We had a wonderful stay at cousins cottage. The location is perfect and we really enjoyed access to the bay. Our hosts were very accommodating. Some good words to describe this rental are quaint, comfortable, and good access to Green Bay.

Sunsets on the Bay

This was the second time we've stayed at "Cousins Cottage". We are still amazed with the beautiful sunsets and the water and the view in general. It's a great launch point for any activity anywhere in door county.

Summer Getaway

A beautiful house. Super clean and location was great for touring Door County. Only a few miles from Peninsula State Park, Cherry Picking, Cana Island, among so many other Door County activities. The lakefront view was spectacular. We spent many afternoons relaxing and kayaking right at our rental. A great stay. Didn't want to leave!

Great Experience

Cousin's Cottage gave us just the relaxing getaway we needed. Bryan and Diane had the house opened up when we got there, with fresh-cut flowers on the table and a lake breeze wafting through the open windows and doors. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, clean, and plainly loved and treated as a family home. We especially enjoyed the renovated bathroom and well-stocked kitchen, with new appliances. The Weber gas grill was clean and new, too. When we stayed in, we enjoyed the huge windows all around the lake side of the cottage, fresh air, shade trees, and of course the lake. When we went out, Egg Harbor and Sturgeon Bay were both close by. We would come back to stay with our gracious and friendly hosts with no hesitation.

Incredibly Welcoming!

We loved our time here! Diane and Bryan both came to greet us when we arrived and we felt at home the entire time. There were homemade muffins for us too, what a nice treat! The cabin was really clean and cool with a unique layout and the views of the water were great. If you wanted to you could lay in bed, watch the sunset, and roll over and go to sleep. The location was really good too. We really got to relax during our stay, and we are hoping to return in the near future!

Nature + Nurture = Wonderful Stay

What a delightful experience! This stay delivered more than was promised and expected. The cabin was beautifully designed to offer the best view of the lake and autumn, and to keep us comfortable. Everything we needed was right there; we happily didn't have to leave for days (it was our honeymoon). Bryan and Diane were available if we needed them, sharing suggestions for restaurants and excursions. We did have several wonderful dinners out and visited several parks and beaches. It was amazing. We would recommend this to everyone!

Perfect location to explore Door County

This clean and cute cottage was a perfect location to spend when exploring the great things Door County has to offer-- we were minutes from everything. It also provided some peace and solitude when needing some down time. The sunsets were amazing! The hosts were so helpful and sweet! The cottage was clean and perfect for our family of 4. Kids loved the bunk beds and there was space to spread out and chill after a day of exploring. The windows and deck allow you to take in the beautiful scenery. I would highly recommend this place!!

Perfect

My husband and two sons (9 and 6 years old) had an amazing time at cousins cottage. Going to sleep and waking up each morning to the sound of water on Green Bay was like heaven. The cottage was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and tableware and we were able to cook several times during our stay. We also used the grill. We enjoyed smores several nights at the fire pit with wood provided. Our family especially enjoyed the fishing pier and spent almost every morning and evening fishing and swimming. This was a great place for active little boys who enjoyed running and playing on the grounds. Bayshore drive was also quiet enough to go for a run. We never drove over 40 minutes and were able to hike, kayak, pick cherries, climb a lighthouse, play mini golf, and eat at fantastic restaurants during out stay. Our hosts were also extremely nice and helpful but did not intrude during our stay. I would highly recommend this cottage and would stay here again! .

Wonderful cottage with amazing views and sunsets

My sister and I had a "sister's getaway" and stayed 6 nights at the Cousin's Cottage. The cottage was clean and stocked with all the necessities needed to cook, including Door County Co. coffee! The cottage itself is very cozy, well thoughtout and comfortable, including the beds. We chose not to cook and take in all the great restaurants in Door County. We were greeted on the deck with a vase of beautiful lilac's. There is a picnic table for outdoor eating and a fire pit. The views of the Bay from the cottage and the deck are absolutely spectacular. It is such a quiet, serene property, very relaxing. The weather was perfect, in the mid 70's so we were able to enjoy Pennisula State Park, White Dunes, lighthouses and the quaint shops in Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Ephraim and Sister Bay. Everything is within a 15 - 40 minute drive. We also stopped at several Farmer's Markets which were fun. We tried to get back to the cottage before dark so we could enjoy the amazing sunsets from the deck...they were spectacular!!. (Even saw a mother goose and her goslings one evening on the bay.) We had an amazing, relaxing time and hope to come back sometime; we didn't want to leave. Thank you Bryan and Diane for sharing this "little slice of Heaven".

Decompress and recharge

Rented this cottage for one week (Sat -Sat) early June. Landlord lives next to cabin, cordial and helpful. Cottage size fit us well (couple). It has a open layout, lots of windows with view of the bay. One queen bed, and two bunks. A small family would be Ok here, but only one bathroom, so be advised. Kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots, pans, and etc. Good water pressure and hot water for shower. Several books, games and TV (which we didn't turn on.. It's Door Co. for goodness sake). Location is good, as drives to just about everywhere is not an problem. No beach here, rocks at water edge. Beach at county park a few miles north, no fees, and lightly used, at least in June. Cottage faces west, so sunsets are the thing. Gets rather warm in the late afternoon, with all the windows and west sun, but blinds help and there is good ventilation through cottage. There is a sitting room area and dining table. They have a fire pit plus wood, but we chose not to burn. Picnic table close to the water. Sitting on deck and enjoying the air is very good for the soul. Noise is minimal, occasional boats and Harleys on the back road. Sleep quality is good and things quiet down at night. Cottage is well maintained and clean. Well water, so you may want to bring bottles, as we did if you are not used to the different taste. The place is well built, as we withstood two decent storms at night without worries. Parking for one, maybe two small cars, very near the cottage. A few steps up onto the deck and cottage. WiFi worked for me without issue, for the few emails and such (it's a vacation !) Recommend to contact Landlord directly for schedule and payment.

Great cottage by the bay!

We thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful, private cottage on the Bay! It’s so close to anything and everything we wanted to see or do on the Peninsula! A real “find”—a hidden gem!! Bryan and Diane thought of every detail to make us feel welcomed and relaxed. Calm or stormy, the Bay always delivered a beautiful sunset. The waves on the Bay and the breezes through the tall cedars entertained us by day and lulled us to sleep at night. This cottage exceeded all of our expectations!

Sunsets, bonfires, great memories!

This place is wonderful. The windows were spotless and provided gorgeous views of the lake from every room. You could even watch the sunset from bed. We set up a hammock near the water and watched the waves all day. At night, there is a great fire pit right on the water. The beds were comfortable and the place was spotless, the cleanest I’ve ever seen. The hosts were so helpful and responsive. They even baked us fresh cookies! I can’t wait to bring my small fam to stay again.

Beautiful and Relaxing

Exactly what we wanted. Cozy place right by the water to relax. I loved hearing the waves at night. My husband and I went for our anniversary without our kids and just wanted a place to relax and enjoy nature. The sunsets were gorgeous and we loved just sitting by the fire pit at night. Bryan and Diane were gracious hosts and we had a really good time.

The owners are simply enjoyable to talk to and they definitely give you your space and they're there if you need anything they're very nice people I am glad to say I have met them for the second time. I just can't say enough how much I enjoyed the peace which was much needed for me and my husband thank you again And as for staying in the cabin, with all the windows it's simply a little piece of heaven the best way to explain it, window view everywhere you can wake up and hear the waves and see the water. Door County get away

The location of this cottage can't be beat: on the shore of Green Bay in Door County. We were close to the small towns and shops as well as the parks, hiking trails and water front views. The owners, who live next door, greeted us and let us know that we were welcome. The cabin has full window views of Green Bay and a wonderful deck with plenty of chairs (2 were reclining) to view the night stars. Everything we needed was provided (kitchen/bath etc) - the queen bed was very comfortable and the two couches were wonderful to catch up on some book reading. We would like to return and continue exploring the area. This cottage would be our destination!

About the host

Hosted by Bryan Troutman

Host profile image
My wife and I have been coming to Door County on vacation since the mid 1980's. We acquired our home in 1989 and purchased Cousin's Cottage last year. The addition of this property expands our waterfront footage to 300 feet, which we share with potential renters.

Why they chose this property

This property helps to protect the beauty of the entire property and the wonderful vistas of the Bay of Green Bay. It is unique and has its own personality throughout the seasons.

What makes this property unique

Cousin's Cottage is appropriately named because the kids simply love its style, uniqueness and location. There is nothing more pleasant to have Cousin's Cottage bring family together. It has also proven to be a wonderful honeymoon destination.
