About this property

RARE GEM direct Waterfront on Hood Canal, Olympic National Forest

We are sorry to say no pets. We love the animals but we simply have had too many issues.

This 3 bedroom vacation home is a combination of the main house and a SEPARATE STUDIO. Please Note: The base rate is for the main house only. The main house is 2 bedroom, one King bed and one with a queen bed, 2 full bathrooms, SLEEPS 4 and the BASE NIGHTLY RATE COVERS UP TO 2 guests. The site will adjust the nightly price for additional guests. The studio is also available for you to rent if you have the need for a 5th or 6th person or just need 3 beds for the 4 of you. .

NO FIREWORKS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY OR BEACH.

The ATTACHED STUDIO has a separate entrance up top and is available for groups of 5 or 6. Total 6 people for the house at any time. The studio has a Tempur Pedic King along with a full kitchen and full bathroom. The studio is exposed to Hwy 101 so not recommended for light sleepers. The Main house is insulated by the studio and a stairwell. The design is great and we do not hear anything but the Seals talking out in the water.

The house has a set of 12 stairs that brings you from the carport entry to the main floor, kitchen, living room and deck. The studio has outside stairs, about 12, from the carport up to the entrance. If any occupant has difficulty with stairs this may not be the best home for your stay.

We ask if you drive a EV please let us know as a utility charge must be paid depending on your length of stay. The area has high rates that escalate as we consume more power.

It is time to step back, kick off those shoes, take off that tie, grab a glass of wine or cup of hot tea and enjoy one of the most spectacular views imaginable. Relax in the most romantic places on the Emerald Northwest. Endless views, a sweeping deck that over hangs the tidelands with a dock to the water, watch otters play, seals and eagles just about in every direction. This is the exact location where the Dosewallips river feeds the salt water ocean ( they say - when fresh water rivers feed salt water oceans - life is most abundant and rich). Sit back and listen to the sound of the rivers greeting the tides of the ocean. A Magical place in paradise where you can go exploring at many nearby State Parks, Kayaking, Canoeing, hiking, water sunrises and best of all- low tides to walks.

Sit on the deck or inside to be greeted by amazing sunrise. Enjoy Kayaks, 4 of them, o
when the waters on the Hood Canal reach high tide and are calm. Life preservers are provided in different sizes in the shed on our dock. Take a hike outside your door to some of the most romantic, magical walks in the Pacific Northwest.

If you are a family or just a couple in need of a getaway then this is the perfect place to relax.

Eat fresh Oysters or clams just a few miles away while listening to live music on weekends at the Hama Hama Saloon. Walk to a local tavern or simply stay put and enjoy a million dollar view with everything this home has to offer all around you. Life does not get any better.

There are two Visitor Centers with detailed maps and up-to-date information about the Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park

This is the eastern access to all these amazing natural places, abundant with amazing scenery, all levels of hiking trails that can lead you through the entire Park for a week of trekking, or a short round-trip with a picnic. Falls View Park and waterfall, Wildlife Viewing Platform, Mount Walker viewpoint and many other wonderful scenic outings all within a few minutes' drive. Windows in every direction, expansive deck that hangs over the water for big views. Big space to enjoy a family of 6 -8 comfortably. Olympic national forest is near your doorstep. Home to Otters, seals, Elk, Osprey, Kingfish and Bald eagles.

During Summer peak season reservations for three night stays are available. Look for dates to capture some of the most magical full moon views.

A lively view of wildlife complete with binoculars
A wonderful opportunity to stay put and watch the tides and wildlife change in front of you The house is wonderful with all the details I love when away from home. The host was easy to reach, responding quickly to messages when needed. The area offers a multitude of recreational activities if you can tear yourself away from the deck

Great stay at “Rare Gem”
Rare Gem on the Hood Canal has a spectacular view of the water from the house and from the expansive deck. The deck is in need of some loving attention, but it is welcoming with umbrellas and comfy chairs. The kitchen is well appointed. Beds are very comfortable. The kayaking is splendid, and swimming at nearby river a treat. Owners are warm and helpful in all communications.

Beyond Expectations!
What a fantastic week we had, exploring Brinnon and surrounding area. This is a must do for anyone exploring The Olympic Peninsula. VRBO property much more than we anticipated, a wonderful place, to hang out, enough room for our family. The view was beautiful! The view from the Master bedroom breath-taking. A big shout out to our hosts Mary and Tom for their attention to detail in creating an environment that is warm and welcoming. Roy and Denise

Tom and Mary were the most gracious hosts for my birthday weekend. My family enjoyed constant eagle sightings, elk, otters, and all of the wonderful flowers blooming. The house was perfect, with an ideal open layout that worked well for us. We will be back for sure!

Amazing location
Amazing wildlife and views from the deck. The house and studio combination was great for my family of four plus an additional couple. Beware that there are not many curtains on the windows and the upstairs bedroom in the main house is in an open loft so if you like to sleep in, bring an eye mask and earplugs!

Beautiful and peaceful
The property was spotless upon arrival and had everything we needed. Very comfortable accomodations and layout for two couples. Checking in and out was a breeze. We loved the beautiful views and wildlife, seeing seals, otters, an elk herd and bald eagles just off the deck every day. The property was well maintained and seemed very private and secluded. Having kayaks and a canoe available was a definite plus. Overall it was a wonderful place to stay.

A complete gem
Let’s see, how can I summarize this property ... a great house, spectacular view, excellent kayaking, abundant wildlife, and expert hosting by people who really know what they’re doing. I hope they’re not planning on having much time there themselves as this one’s going to be heavily rented year-round!

Family weekend at the Hood Canal!!!
Before we got to the house we stopped at HAMA HAMA for a bushel of oysters and were able to dig clams on the north side of Dosewallips. Lots of fresh seafood!! Beautiful house with great views. Huge deck for enjoying time outdoors. Large sunroom for kids room or family pets. Good access to beach!! The two bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. A hot tub would be a awesome addition to this property!!!

Incredible views!
Wonderful stay! The views were incredible - the living room/dining area, sunroom and master bedroom are east facing huge windows so we could enjoy the views all day! Lovely long table in dining area- can complete puzzles. Great open floor plan. Very comfy beds! We loved sitting around the fire pit at night and relaxing. The owner, Tom, was very approachable - We couldn’t figure out how to get the fire pit working our first night abd he walked us through it- success! Highly recommend.

Absolutely the best!
This place could not be better for a quiet cozy get away! The house has everything you would need including fun games, kayaks, all the kitchen gadgets, even a crock pot! Right on the water! The wildlife was spectacular and the sun rises from the master bedroom...just wow! There are tons of nearby hiking trails and state parks. The restaurant that you can WALK to has the best food (take out only because of the COVID) I sure hope I can stay here again! Best vacation rental EVER!

Looks much nicer in pictures
We were really disappointed for the cost. The tile floors are absolutely filthy, it’s nearly impossible to get down to the beach especially with little kids, and there’s nothing to do in the area. We went home a day early.

Great time in Brinnon
The house was very large and accommodations were perfect for our family of four. We made good use of the games, water access and Kayaks that were included with the rental. Some of our day trips were a long drive from the house but I always looked forward to getting back there and spending more time on the deck taking in the amazing views of the canal and Mount Rainer in the distance. Communication with Tom and Mary was very easy. I only needed them once at the start and from there it was smooth relaxing vacation.

Beautiful location. Close to Docewallips and Pleasant Harbor. Great weather and the beach was great.
We would give it a 5 except for the sun waking us up in the master bedroom at 6 am every morning. Blinds would definitely be helpful. The studio was perfect for the grandkids & their mom. Very cute and accommodating. The house had all the furnishings and kitchen needs one could ask for. Amazing blackberries on the beach! Thank you Tom & Mary. Plenty of room for our boat trailer--that was a huge thumbs up!

Stunning view! Great host!
We had a fantastic time at Tom and Mary's place. We had four adults and one teenager in our group and we all felt very comfortable. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, pots, pans and appliances. Huge dining table was perfect for games. Wood burning fireplace kept us cozy as we sat and looked out at the gorgeous view. The beds and linens were wonderful. Tom was responsive and helpful and we were so happy to get a good day of weather for kayaking right off the landing of their deck. We would very much like to come back and enjoy the deck more in the spring or summer.
