About this property

OCEAN VIEW, STEPS FROM THE BEACH

26 West 8th Street is a well-loved home that reflects a simpler life; with an updated yet basic kitchen, with a clothes dryer but a clothesline that makes much more sense, with an outdoor shower that renders bathing inside mundane, and let’s not forget riding bikes to the bakery or library instead of getting in the car. It is how life at the beach should be lived, simply!!

Less than 100 yards from the beach, with fantastic views of Sea Isle Inlet, this family-friendly home makes heading to the beach for the day easy. If something has been forgotten, or for lunch on the deck, leave your things on the beach and walk the few minutes it takes to get back.
The 8th Street Beach is located on the north end of the island, the first of Avalon's 60 some beaches, so there are little or no crowds with only your neighbors joining you for fun in the sun. The jetty, which cradles the beach, can be explored to find a rich array of ocean life and during high tides and high waves a wading pool forms creating endless fun for all.
If you have had too much sun and want to check in with the rest of the world, use the in-house WiFi or hop on one of the bikes and head to the Avalon Library for a quiet space to work. Restaurants, ice cream, tennis, basketball, playground, miniature golf and the arcade are all within walking or biking distance.
Make a reservation today and prepare to relax!

Many Thanks!!!

Location can't be beat!
My family and good friends had a lovely stay here. It is such a quiet and peaceful area of Avalon and the beach is steps away. The kitchen was well stocked and it was so nice spending evening diners at the large dining table on the deck. We weree so lucky to have a perfect weather week and enjoyed morning bike rides and the kids got a few days in on the surf boards as well. It was great not having to bring beach chairs or bikes to use since everything was there for our use. The only minor inconeveenience was having to utilize the lower level bedroom accessible using the outdoor steps, but our teenagers didn't seem to mind, other then two of them who have asthma and struggled with all of the dampness in the bunk room. They did have air conditioner untis and a dehumidifier in the room which did help & we would definiteley stay here again. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner when I had a question and Jack was so helpful. Having an 11am check out was nice too so we could still get an am run in and have time to get packed up without being rushed. Avalon is full of nice restaurants all within walking distance!

Unbelievable view...walk across the street to see the sun rise over the ocean!
We went to this property for an extended family vacation. The owner was SO communicative, reaching out a few times leading up to our stay to see how she could help or answer any questions. This house had beach tags, bikes, and beach chairs...was so nice not to have to transport all these! The view is amazing...I can't say enough about watching the ocean from the main room and deck. If you are an early bird, you can walk across the street to the jetty and watch the sun rise over the ocean!

A beautiful beach home
This house was so lovely. The owner couldn't have been kinder or easier to communicate with. My whole family enjoyed themselves very much! The view from the living room and top deck is absolutely beautiful!

Fully equipped, steps from the beach
This is a fully equipped home rental with more than adequate space for eight and incredible views of the inlet. The use of kayaks was a plus as our 6 and 8 year old grandsons were able to paddle in the tide pool. The proximity to the beach is a bonus. The Avalon shore has beautiful beaches and life guard stations at this location add to no worry relaxation. The tide pool and dock are also a plus. Our grandchildren found five different types of crabs, including a spider crab, shells, and 'treasures' metal detecting.

Fantastic Week
We just returned from another great week in Avalon. This was our seventh consecutive year at 26 W. 8th. With each return, we find some new improvement. This year we arrived to find all of the bathrooms had been completely re-done. While I personally miss the 1960s-era pink tile in the master bath, everyone else was delighted with the updated finishes and fixtures. The house is so conveniently located and the views of the inlet and jetty are really great. Simple beach living as it is meant to be.

Classic Avalon Beach Home
We've rented this lovely home in Avalon's quiet north end for a week each summer for 5 or 6 years running. The location can't be beat (100 feet from beach entrance with views of the inlet). Every year we're pleasantly surprised by some upgrade or other that the owners have made over the previous winter. This past year they replaced and expanded the outdoor shower area and the prior year they rebuilt the front deck and railings and bought new outdoor furniture. The furnishings are simple and comfortable - as the beach should be. The living room and front deck create a combined space that is great for entertaining and family gatherings. There's almost always a breeze off the ocean and in most years we've only had to use the AC sparingly (admittedly, our 2016 week was hot as the devil and we ran the AC most of the week - works great). The bunk room on the first level is great for teenagers and college-aged kids (and their friends). Beach chairs, toys, bicycles and kayaks are available for use. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with. By far the most enjoyable home vacation rental we've ever had.

This home has been a place of reconnecting to family for over four generations. Many of our fondest memories are roaming Avalon as children getting to know the island, each other and ourselves. 26 West 8th Street holds a special place in our hearts as it will for you and your family.

Why they chose this property

It's conveniently located to one of the best beaches in Avalon, views across the inlet to Sea Isle, a few blocks from the bay for pier fishing and the Avalon Yatch Club for sailing, as well as the 8th street tennis courts and ball fields.

What makes this property unique

Three bedrooms upstairs with a over-flow twin- bed space on the lower level and a covered car-port allows for children to play in a cool space. The lot is bordered by the only remaining bayberry bushes around and the cool breezes from the ocean reach the house because we are not penned in by other homes. There is an open corridor to the beach and a jetty that brings much fun at high tide with abundant marine life.
