Very charming older home
Host was wonderful! Equipped with absolutely everything you will need. Owner truly goes out of her way to include laundry and kitchen needs. We felt like we were staying at Grandma's house with all of the decor left in place from previous owner. Home was very welcoming and in a great location away from everything, while also perfectly located within range for so many things to do and see.

Absolutely Charming
My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. Sandy and Randy thought of every little thing to make our stay that much more relaxing and incredible. I didn’t expect to be able to just sit back and not have to worry about the little things. Thank you so much!!!

Central location for motorcycle riding
Relatively close to the dragon, 28 and the Cherohola. Property has everything you need for a comfortable visit - kitchen is fully outfitted. There's a fire pit outside and a deck on the back. Beds are comfy. Laundry room, 2 baths. Wifi with internet and satellite tv.

Perfect little cottage
This was our first time booking a rental like this both online and near the mountains. We are glad we did. We were away from the city and of all noise. We had 100% true tranquility. It was better than what a hotel could offer. And also my family of 4 and our dog got closer than we were ever before. Absolutely loved it and will be coming again sometime soon.

A true getaway
Having never been to the area, we didn’t realize quite how “remote” we would be by staying here, and it allowed us to truly get away from it all, relax, and enjoy the beauty around us. There are plenty of activities nearby and in Bryson City, but our favorite thing was enjoying the beautiful view from the deck, listening to the bubbling creek and the other various creatures. We had everything we could have needed! We definitely plan on returning!

Pure peace
We recently spent 4 nights in this cabin. Sandy and Randy were very accommodating. Cabin is located in a very quiet location. Mornings are beautiful with just the sounds of the birds and a nearby stream. We travel with our 2 year old golden retriever and the set up was perfect for him. We also enjoyed the nearby lakes and forrests.

An older ranch style house. Very interesting art throughout the cottage and family photos.
Location was in between mountains. The view was on one side of the mountains and the other a hillside. There was a musty smell of an old house inside. Well equipped for a short stay. The showers lost there heat rather quickly. The owners Sandy and Randy were quick to communicate back with us about our comments. They were looking into the hot water issue after we left so hoping that will be resolved. It was central to many great hikes and the Tapoco lodge. It is a beautiful area with friendly locals and lots to do. I feel refreshed and revived. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay that is central this is the place.

Great way to do the Appalacian Trail!
My son and two pets stayed for a week in this property. The two baths were a great boon for two adults. I enjoyed sitting in the "mountain room" every morning and watched the sun come over the mountains. The trees were changing but probably not to peak. The changing weather was a delight to watch as the week went on. My son brought out DVD's and books that he thought I would love. He was a great librarian! Our favorites were Down from the Mountain, High Lonesome and A Walk in the Woods. Concurrently, I read Bill Bryson's book about his hike on the Appalacian Trail. Entrance to the Trail is about a mile away. Other entrances are near by. We brought supplies. However, I took a trip one day to Robbinsville and bought produce at a local market as well as at the local Ingles. Robbinsville has almost all anyone would want for a tiny town. On the way back I went to the Yellow Branch Farm and Pottery. I came home with a wonderful compote and one of all four kinds of cheese. There were other places I would have loved to have explored. But being "home" was too inviting. Thank you Sandy and Randy for a great get away.

Great place to stay ran by wonderful people.
4 of us were there for a motorcycle trip and we couldn’t have been happier with the house. Randy and Sandy were accessible and friendly. Could not have had a better stay.

Cute little house with all amentities!
Stayed here and went to the Fontana Clogging Jamboree - the house is very cute and included everything we needed for lodging for the weekend. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were very nice, and sitting on the porch at night listening to the stream was wonderful! We didn’t stay long enough to use the grill or fire pit, but both are available on site. The house is located up a pretty steep gravel driveway, which we didn’t realize when we booked (may have overlooked that if it was in the description) There were a few creepy-crawlies inside and several spider webs around the house - of course, it is a house in the woods, so we weren’t overly surprised, but that is probably the one thing I would suggest for the owners to improve on. Laying in the bed and seeing spider webs up at the ceiling wasn’t the nicest thing to see! We also couldn’t find the trash receptacle based off of the instructions for check-out, so that could be clarified a little more. Over all, it is a great mountain rental home for the price, and I would definitely recommend it to others who are looking for a rental in this area!!

Great location for a relaxing vacation
Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful location. The cottage was comfortable and located close to Fontana Dam and some other beautiful sites. The owners were a pleasure to meet and made us feel very welcome. We also enjoyed hiking along part of the Appalachian Trail, which was only two miles away. The roads are excellent so getting to the property was very easy. we considered this to be a good value.

Beauty Personified in the Great Smoky Mountains
Mountain trips are almost a rite of passage in Western North Carolina, but your choice of lodging can be the difference between a good trip and an excellent trip. Thankfully, this two bedroom house helped really make the trip something wonderful! For starters, the property itself is really more of a house than a cottage: two bedrooms, a spacious living room and kitchen with all the amenities needed for a short or extended stay. The balcony view with the sound of the creek below in the valley was absolutely fantastic both at sunrise and at sunset. The beds were comfortable with plenty of closet space for clothes and luggage, TVs in both bedrooms with a nice selection of DVDs and books for those perfect lazy days. The basement has been converted into a studio for the aspiring artists, a very cool touch. The property does have a laundry room available as well. By far the best part of this place was the fire pit though; nothing beats a warm fire to wind down and relax after the day! This property isn't suited for every type of trip, though: the location is absolutely gorgeous with stunning vistas on the way up, but you pay for that beauty with long drives to the major attractions. The nearest town of note is a 20-25 minute drive away down two-lane, windy roads. This is definitely a locale best suited for people looking into outdoor activities at Fontana Lake: you're located near the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway, but the steep gravel driveway makes this locale untenable for motorcycles. You are quite isolated here too with no cell service to speak of and a landline phone that is dependent on the weather. There is internet available, but it's pretty slow, so if you have to take your work with you, be forewarned. All in all though, these shortcomings don't diminish the quality of the location. If you enjoy outdoor activities, want a romantic location during Leaf Season or just want to get away from everything, this is an absolute gem at a tremendous price. As long as you don't mind the drives, you're going to really enjoy your stay here.
