About this property

Historic Waterfront Beach House on Estuary

Waterfront beach house.
This charming 1903, tastefully restored, waterfront beach house, has panoramic views of Necanicum River, the Estuary, Tillamook Head and Pacific Ocean. Features include, private steps to the soft sand beach, original woodwork throughout the home and claw foot bath tub. Many modern upgrades compliment the quintessential vintage charm.

Create a moment.
Roomy enough for a family clambake (comfortably sleeps 6), intimate enough for a romantic weekender, this well-appointed home offers great usable space for cooking, indoor and outdoor seating options for drinking and dining, and big fluffy beds to flop down in at the end of the night. Double fridge/freezer, dishwasher and laundry, coffee maker(s) and cable TV, extra soft linens and clean towels, big windows with lots of natural light (and candles tucked away for the evening hours), a working cook’s kitchen and a sloping grassy yard - this is a flexible, livable space that easily adapts to (and inspires) any adventure.

Relax at the coast.
Tilt your Adirondack chair toward the waves, or curl up with a book in the cozy sunroom. Enjoy private beach access - where fresh meets salt water at the intersection of the Necanicum River and the Pacific Ocean - with crabbing, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding just steps from your door (all required kit for crabbing is awaiting your arrival - so grab it and go get ‘em!). The wine fridge and fully stocked honor bar is at your disposal (house rules: take a little, leave a little... it all balances out).

If you must work...

Beautiful and charming little beach house!

We had a wonderful stay here, the house was lovely and had everything we could need for our stay. The location was beautiful and just a quick drive into town. The host was great, we had a small issue when we arrived that she promptly addressed (while out of the country!) and followed up to make sure all was well. We hope to be again next year!

Magical Oregon

First time to Oregon and we fell in love. The location on the estuary was magical for the kids. House was lovely and had that old fisherman house vibe. Updates were nice. Only issue we had was the floor hand been mopped in a long time. The 10 minute drive to Canon Beach was beautiful and we made it every day. We’ll be back to the OR coast.

Old school beach house vibes

We LOVED this place. The house is exactly how I would update my grandparents 1905 beach cottage if they'd had one. Not a fancy overhaul, but a simple functional update without erasing a century of beautifully rustic character. The location was outstanding. We spent many, many hours exploring the estuary at low tide and looking for routes all the way out to the ocean. We loved tracking various birds through the sand, looking for crabs and sand dollars, and watching spectacular sunsets from the back porch. And it's a quick drive into town for all the tourist-y bits, too.

Beautiful Sunsets

Our family really enjoyed staying at this beautiful waterfront home. The house was clean, the home was well stocked with all the essentials and the location was perfect! We spent every morning walking out along the estuary, days down the road walking through the promenade and evenings watching the sun set right out the back porch! Jodi was an amazing host and very quick with responding to our questions! Such a beautiful place to spend our family vacation!

Spring break Getaway

This is a great location to get away for a quiet retreat. From the sun room you get a view of the ocean. The kitchen is nicely stocked and makes it easy to prepare meals. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of blankets to stay warm. The family room has plenty of space to spread out and read a book or stream a movie. It's a nice walk into downtown Seaside.

Seaside

Charming house with gorgeous estuary and ocean views. Very functional and well-supplied kitchen. Clean bathrooms and lots of towels, bedding. Cleaners could do a better job of vacuuming - some cobwebs and dead flies. Picked up some litter in front yard first day of stay.

Amazing View

Comfortable remodeled farmhouse feel with the walls, ceiling and floors covered with beautiful woodwork. Everything from the farm kitchen to the furnishings and decorations made this house a home. So many windows allowed a panoramic view of the river and ocean. Jodi was a great host who was available and super helpful. My son and I had a very relaxing long weekend.

Spring Break with Friends

Historic home with lots of character. Ample space for 8. Spring weather on the coast can be finicky. We enjoyed walking on the beach in the sun and taking refuge in the house when the wind and rain came in. Views were great no matter what the weather was like. The kitchen provided everything you could possibly need. There are also an abundance of games, videos, book, kites, rubber boots, too many things to mention! There is a lot of space to spend time together or find some time alone. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had a wonderful time!

Owner apologies

We have been very torn whether to write this review or not. My travel pal, and I were very surprised at the unkept condition of this old house in a great location. There’s a fine line between rustic charm and deferred maintenance. After our stay we sent a list of items directly to the owner and were refunded the full amount because they stated they were embarrassed that we encountered such a long list of issues. I understand that this owner has promised to repair these things and stated appreciation with the integrity that we contacted them directly rather than write it all in a review. The main reason that we’ve decided to post a review is to continue this integrity and good intentions for any future visitors. This property is a very special historic house and deserves to be kept in a more pristine condition. The history of this house alone is beautiful. I hope that any future visitors here will be met with finished and properly repaired bathrooms and we hope that the owner will remove words like “tricky” out of the house book and repair the items that are “tricky”. A message to the owner; there is no need to reply to us and we appreciate the refund and we hope that this will hold you accountable to all future Visitors.

Just like we remembered it

We stayed here in 2014 and our family loved it so much they have talked for the last 9 years about the best vacation ever— so when my now adult daughter (she was 14 back then) suggested we get together for a special family celebration, we both immediately said we wanted to go to Seaside (from Texas). She was elated we could book the same house because the thing she wanted to do most was sit in the sun room and read a book like she did all those years ago. The house did not disappoint and we had a special time making memories again while reliving old ones — putting the crab traps out, watching the sun set and rise, and cooking together in the kitchen. Now, my adult son is saying it is his turn to go back! Jodi is a wonderful host, the house has everything one could need, and we would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area for unforgettable memories that are definitely worth driving 2000 miles to experience again!

Slice of heaven

This house was just what the doctor ordered. Nicely equipped with all that we needed in the kitchen. Beautiful view out over the inlet: such a great beachside location with smaller kids. House is located on the hill, so have to walk down stairs to get to the beach. But once on beach it is flat and inland a bit so was out of the main Oregon beach wind gusts. Pictures seem to actually present house. Older style, with some nice upgrades. Only odd thing is no shower on second floor where all the bedrooms are at, so had to go downstairs to shower. Wasn’t an issue, and the bath upstairs was perfect for the kids. Fun to have the clam guns and some beach toys available for use. There are lots of items left for communal use that made us think we had come to someone’s actual home :-) We quite enjoyed our stay, and look forward to the next time we get to escape the city to stay again!

Our Best Vacation Ever

It's virtually impossible to describe how wonderful this house, its location, and Jodi (the manager) made our first vacation since the pandemic. First, we stayed at the end of February 2021 and the house in Winter was spectacular as it looks out over tidal rivers with ocean surf pounding in the distance. Saw countless shorebirds, including Bald Eagles catching fish in the river directly behind the house. Then, the house itself is charming and full of character. It's scrupulously clean, and fitted out with an incredible array of high-quality kitchen equipment and utensils, plenty to keep any serious chef happy. The furniture, towels, and bedding were equal to luxury hotels, along with wifi and AppleTv we couldn't ask for anything more And lastly but maybe most importantly, we can't sing the praises of Jodi the manager enough. She worked with us on scheduling issues we had, and then was immediately available, pleasant, and helpful with our one-and-only question. We are already planning our next trip there with our entire family this time.

Family vacation

We really enjoyed the historic house and location. Staying on the estuary was neat and seeing the birds and small fish and other creatures as the tides came in and out was lots of fun as well - especially for our nature-minded group. Paddle boarding was easy when the tide was in on the estuary. The glassed-in porch was a treasure that all enjoyed. The cooks kitchen was fabulously appointed and we enjoyed cooking in it. We would definitely stay here again for the location and the charm and Jodi has done a nice job of making it well appointed without feeling fussy. The bathrooms and the house were very clean for sure. The refrigerator was an exception and did not appear to have been recently wiped out, and I assume, an accidental oversight. I just wiped it out and moved on. I recommend that guests leave their shoes at the door in order to avoid tracking in prickly plant debris. We vacuumed a couple of time throughout the week and left our shoes at the entry. All enjoyed the hosts tips and the boardwalk and the nearby parks. We hope to come back again!

This historical house on the estuary was exactly what we wanted and plenty of charm!

If you love the coziness and quirkiness of older homes, this is for you! I called it my “Summer of ‘42” (movie) house. I found myself wondering about the people who may have lived here at one time and I think it has always been a happy house. You are surrounded with so many fun things from books to sand dollars lined up on the outside window ledge of the sunroom to a clothes line complete with clothespins! There is so much character and charm in this house. I felt right at home from the minute we walked in. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could possibly need or want. And YES! You really can catch crab just a little walk from the house! We were lucky enough to see a herd of deer run right past the house early one morning on our little beach on the estuary! There were at least 50-60 of them – quite a site! Also saw blue heron. As you can probably tell, we loved this house and the estuary. I think I could have easily spent a month there! AND, with all of the fun, whimsical things that were in the house, it was sparkling clean! Hope you love it as much as we did. Where do you think the wooden stove must have been? Who put the time into the wonderful ceiling in the living room and dining room? If you love to dream and romance a little bit about the past you will love this house!

Truly Perfect

Everything about our stay was perfect. I love the beach house. The view is unrivaled. It is the perfect place for a quiet escape from city life. Each evening I sat in the sunroom with a glass of wine, watching the herons and the sunset beyond the estuary and ocean. I can’t wait to go back..

Captains house. Old charm.

Captains house sat on a hill. We opened the door into a farmhouse kitchen updated and ready for cooking. We enjoyed the views from the sunroom! Upstairs the rooms where clean but the doors didn’t latch well and the floors cracked. Downstairs TV room had dog hair on the rug which was easy enough to cleanup but wasn’t appreciated (since pets aren't allowed). The steps down from the house to the beach was a bonus. We had many hours playing and exploring. Fun was had by all.

Special Place of History and Habitat

The house is clean and well stocked for the location. The weather was perfect to explore the beach through the lense of tide all day. For our grandson, discovering the clams and crabs will be lasting memories we hope he will cherish. The saga of watching the make believe pirate ships slip through the morning fog from the sunroom will hopefully continue next summer. The rich library will be well suited for some rainy days in the fall. We all felt so privileged to have spent time in this historic home and hope to return.
