Great stay on Sapelo!

We rented this house for a girls weekend and had a blast! The house was the perfect place! Owner was available and helpful. We had Miss Barbara cook one of our dinners and it was delicious! Can’t wait to return!

Exceeded expectations

Nice house, clean and very comfortable. Owner and property manager were both very accessible and helpful. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We left some items and the owner mailed them to us free of charge! Thank you R., B., and C. for an awesome weekend. Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely, relaxing getaway!

Holy (wild) cow! Where do I begin?! Our group of three retired couples enjoyed our first time on this beautiful island, and we luckily picked THE BEST home and caretakers for our stay! This home met all our needs and more! An added plus to this rental were the knowledgeable and friendly caretakers, Chris and Barbara, who provided us with a truck to drive around, a private tour of the island, and YUMMY meals! We are already talking about returning to this secret paradise! Thank you for the lovely, relaxing getaway!

great but changes

The property was great clean.all that was needed. Post Covid had a different atmosphere. I have visited overnight 4 other times. This time people on the island seemed less friendly. I bring each time people who never have had a vacation before. Alll enjoyed. I miss the van or car that comes with the rental. Price was high for old vans and trucks. Not sure if I will return. It is a beautiful island. You can hear God wispering in the breeze

Great Place

This house was very clean and had everything you could possible need. Very comfortable. Plenty of room. Barbara cooked a couple of meals for us and the food was excellent! Barbara and Chris, the caretakers, are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful island

This was a great getaway and I’m really glad we found it. Doesn’t take too long to find your way around. Had a lot of fun on the beach and playing in the waves. Folks are friendly. We had Chris and Barbara cater our meals and you talk about some good eating. I’d ride the ferry to the island just to eat their food! Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Really special place.

We have a new favorite!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with others. The owners were quick to respond and answered my thousand questions leading up to our stay. It was a spur of the moment trip and we had never been. The house was everything as listed, for the exception of the 5 minute walk to the beach. It is a 5 minute drive. Access to the truck is a plus. You definitely need it to get around. Barbara and Chris were a blessing. He had a vehicle awaiting our arrival. She will cook for you (delicious) and they were available for any questions or concerns that we had. We did not stay long enough to get a tour from Chris, but we’re told by others staying on the island to make sure to get it in on the next trip. If you are looking for an adventure with the kids or a moment to stop and take in the beauty of it all and do nothing, this is definitely a trip to take. Thank you for sharing.

Great Beach Getaway

This is not your typical beach vacation. However, we absolutely fell in love with Sapelo Island and plan to come back! The house we stayed at was perfect! Pictures are very accurate! We had 2 adults and 4 teenagers and we had plenty of room in the house! There was an outside shower to rinse off from our time at the beach and it had hot water which I personally appreciated! Beach chairs were provided for us to use as well. No complaints at all about the house! The owners were extremely communicative and available for any questions or concerns. The caretakers were great as well. We ordered dinners every night from Ms. Barbara and they were delicious! Just a few thoughts about the island for anyone considering vacationing here: - It is secluded. It was so relaxing because we did not have to deal with traffic, crowds, etc. - Make sure to get a tour of the mansion scheduled prior to arriving through the caretakers. We did not take care of this prior to arriving, so we didn't get an opportunity to do so. Definitely something we will do next time. - There are no restaurants and only a small general store that offers necessities. As long as you are prepared for this, you will be fine! - The ferry to get to the island costs $5 round trip. You will need cash and it is best to have exact change on hand. - Bring a lot of bug spray! This is all I can think of right now, but I will add more to it if I think of more. Like I said, it was a great place to stay and we absolutely fell in love with the island!

Great property for a small family

Very well kept house, enough bedrooms for children, adults, and grandparents. Had all the needed equipment, beach chairs and bikes. Care taker was great and food was good. Access to the beach with a truck was great. Highly recommend

Great place

It's a great house, with a well-equipped kitchen, clean bathrooms, and comfortable bedrooms. Photos and descriptions are accurate. I agree with all the previous reviews of the house. Bob, the owner, is a great communicator. Barbara and Chris are extremely helpful and gracious. Barbara catered delicious dinners for us each night and reminded us she was available 24/7. Chris met us at the ferry dock with our rented truck and later gave us a tour of the island. We had a blast exploring Sapelo's pristine beaches, maritime forests, and historical sites.

Fun time.

Great island. We had a great time exploring the island. The house had all we needed. The owner was great and his caretakers, Chris and Barbara were great, they cooked and delivered meals and made sure we were taken care of. The island is beautiful and we loved checking out all the area.

Secluded Paradise

We have been working so hard since pandemic started (frontline workers) and needed a much-needed break in a secluded and safe place, the beach was awesome and many times we were the only group there. Dinners from Barbara were delicious, we will be back.

Just perfect

We stayed here with my cousin's family for four nights - four adults and three little kids. It was everything we could have asked for. The house is big, clean, has everything you might need, and is effectively air conditioned (important!). Barbara and Chris took wonderful care of us and were always immediately available anytime we needed anything at all. Chris took us for a tour of the north end of the island, which you're not allowed to explore unless you're authorized by the Georgia DNR, and their cooking is terrific, too - we got two meals from them which were both delicious! (We brought most of our own food and cooking was easy in the spacious, well-equipped kitchen.) Chris and Barbara's kindness was a huge part of what made our trip enjoyable. The owner of the property, Bob, is responsive and easy to deal with, and he'll rent you a truck to get around while you're there, which I recommend unless you travel very light and prefer to rent bikes instead. Sapelo is one of our favorite places on earth and we can't wait to go back - thanks, Chris, Barbara, and Bob, for making this trip easy and fun!

Highly recommend!

I recently visited Sapelo and stayed at this house. We had a fantastic time. The house is spacious, clean and well-maintained. Sapelo is quite a treasure. You will feel relaxed and lost in time. Ms. Barbara's Kitchen is a must! Me had several hot, delicious and fresh meals delivered to the door. The food was amazing! Also, be sure to let her husband Chris give you a tour of the island. We will be back next year for sure! I highly recommend it!!

Wonderful vacation!!!

What a truly wonderful place! Sapelo Island is a step back in time. The beach is pristine and almost private. You may see 5 or 6 other people. Bob's home is very comfortable with everything you'll need. The caretakers, Chris and Barbara Bailey, are just the best. We had meals delivered, which they prepared, three times a day and were pleasantly surprised each time. The food was so good and plentiful. Sapelo is full of fascinating history which Chris shared with us during a "must do" tour of the island. Everything about this trip was amazing! Everyone we met was so welcoming. We will be back!

A wonderful family trip!

This was the perfect house for our family for Labor Day weekend. My mom, husband and two children all stayed in this house with room to spare! We loved the large kitchen and living area and the laundry was an added bonus. The owner went over and beyond to make sure we had what we needed for the weekend. We saw so many wonderful things- Reynolds Mansion, the lighthouse, Shell Rings and Chocolate Plantation and so much wildlife- gators, sea turtles, deer and dolphins! We will definitely be returning to this house on Sapelo as soon as we can! One of the best vacations I've ever been on.

Peaceful Adventure Aplenty

My wife, five year old daughter and I travelled all the way from the mountains of Colorado for the sort of atypical spring break that only Sapelo Island can provide. I had been there before, having grown up in Atlanta, but going back there again with my family, and having them see this magical part of the east coast was a home run. The kitchen and home were terrific, and allowed us to relax and sleep soundly after full days adventuring around the island. This is not a hustle and bustle place, or a place to stay up late and party. This is a place that helps you to slow down, take stock, and appreciate everything. This is one of the most unique island and coastal cultures and habitats left anywhere, and we saw an abundance of birds and animals on each foray from the house. We will be back, and we look forward to another tour around the island with Chris Bailey, your caretaker and Island native.
