About this property

Stunning Five Bedroom Historic Red Hook, NY Home

This stunning historic five bedroom home was built in 1839 by the founder of the Dutchess County Fair. It has been prominently featured in very prestigious publications. It is located in Red Hook, NY, near Rhinebeck, Tivoli and Bard College with it’s Fisher Center performance space designed by Frank Gehry which offers a world class music and theatre program. The house is on 33 acres. There are two ponds and large fields and all the windows look out on rural farmland with no suburban sprawl. The Amtrak train stops in nearby Rhinecliff and the drive to the house follows one of the most beautiful roads in the county. There are at least 12 fantastic restaurants within several miles of the house, which are due to the confluence of the Culinary Institute of America and the abundance of farms in the area . In Hudson, 13 miles to the North, there are an abundance of antiques shops and many more restaurants and activities including Hudson Hall, the nations first Opera house and Basilica Hudson, which has fantastic performances. There are pick-your-own farms for apples, berries, asparagus and pumpkins within a mile or two of the house. A few minutes drive will take you to Olana, the home and studio of Frederic Church, and several Historic Livingston houses , like Clermont, which are open to the public. There are several extensive nature preserves with walks for hiking and taking in the Hudson River. In the Winter there are 4 ski areas within 45 minutes, Catamount being the closest.

There are 5 bedrooms:
One on main floor off the kitchen with a Queen and ensuite bath (Shower only)
Master bed has a queen and connected bath
Guest room has a queen and separate bath
Child's room has a twin and separate bath

We had a great time at Staats Hall. The house is magical. The hosts/owners are wonderful hosts and everything in the house is immaculate. We would highly recommend it as our family had a lovely time during our stay there.

Stunning

This beautifully and painstakingly restored house is extraordinary and delightful. Merely casting your eyes around the rooms and walls is an inspiring visual adventure. The kids loved running around the expansive well-maintained grounds. The owner is charming and very responsive. Our visit was really a treat.
