Lovely 1st Floor Apartment in Historic Canal House, Jordaan, Center, Amsterdam

Cosy 1 bedroom apartment in a historic canal house in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main city’s attractions.

The apartment has a very nice feel with an 'authentic' style, an open, fully equipped kitchen in the living-room, a private bathroom with shower, wireless internet, a TV with international channels and of course a coffee maker. In the bedroom is a double bed and in the living there is a couch which can be made into a comfortable double bed as well, if you like to sleep seperately. (costs for extra bedlinen is 10 euro). Bookings are for 2 guests max, a baby is counted as 1 person according to the local rules!
Everything in this apartment is in great condition!

The neighborhood is ideal located at about a 10 minutes walking distance from the busy city center with lots of restaurants and shops, The Ann Frank House, the Central Railway Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square and Westerpark and 3 nice markets on Mondays (arts and crafts-), Wednesdays (organic-) and Saturdays (farmers-).

In short, the perfect place to stay when in Amsterdam!

Nice place in quiet neighbourhood
Cosy apartment in 400 y.o. building with a contemporary interior. Safe and quiet neighbourhood, but close enough to walk downtown or catch a bus. Short tram ride to the museum district. Enjoyed our stay with a helpful host. Highly recommended.

A very pleasant stay
The apartment suited our needs perfectly and we enjoyed an evening walk and a meal in a bar in the local area. Great position for walking in to the centre and a tram back at night.

Jordaan - Great Location
My daughter and I had never been to Amsterdam so we chose well with the location of our apartment - just outside the very busy areas and two bus stops from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Served by trams and buses we easily connected to everywhere and we could walk if we had the energy. The apartment is small but adequate. We could see our street from our canal cruise at one point, so it was an ideal location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Emmy’s place in the Jordaan! The apartment had everything that we needed to feel at home for the week. Our friends, who joined us during this vacation, were able to stay in the apartment on the ground floor of her building. So, it was the perfect setup for us. It was close to a bus and tram stop, as well as a grocery store, which made it super convenient. The area is beautiful and our host, Emmy, was kind and helpful! We had a fantastic week being back in the city that had been our home for 5 years!

Emmy's place was lovely. Plenty of space, lots of sunlight, all the amenities we needed, located an easy walk from the centre of Jordaan. Check-in was seamless and Emmy welcomed us and shared recommendations and directions to local attractions. Would definitely recommend this place to stay. I know others have mentioned the stairs and it's worth mentioning. They get very narrow at the top of the staircase, so going up and down is a bit tricky. But it's not a deal breaker. I'd stay here again :)

Clean an Quiet
The place was very clean and quiet, and within walking distance of the center of Amsterdam. Just be careful about leaving out any food (or chocolates bars in your luggage), as you may get an uninvited guest. For longer stays and those who enjoy making your own meals, the kitchen is very tiny and no "safe" storage for groceries, except the frig.. Overall though, very good. And - the shower is VERY slippery.

Comfy apartment in great location
The apartment was very comfy and had everything we needed. It is in a brilliant location - tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood with bags of character yet a short walk from the main sights. Emmy was welcoming and told us a bit about the area including a great local bar/restaurant ('t Blauhooft) which was friendly and had good food/beer. Highlights of our stay included Keukenhof and the Anne Frank Jewish Quarter Walking Tour. We'd definitely stay here again.

Well located appartement in a house
Appartement located in the center if Amsterdam. Clean but opened during the day. A key is missing to close the entrance door thus everybody can enter in the bathroom and in the bedroom when we are outside. The stair to reach the apartment at the first level is small and dangerous.

The unit was very small with 2 large armoires in the small living room plus an oversized round table for 4 when the limit of people is 2. No paper towels or cleaning products were provided and the main issue were the steep, winding stairs to the unit. Ok if you are young and not bringing large suitcases. We had been on safari so had larger bags. Possibly ok for 1 person.

Emmy was great to communicate with. She gave us a really good overview of the area, she told us how to get around and shared some really nice local spots as for a meal, or a drink. Accomodations were just as pictured, very clean and everything you needed to have a good stay

My friend and I stayed at this lovely, cozy apartment right in the heart of Amsterdam. Everything was walkable and very quiet. Emmy was very helpful and accomodating. We had everything we needed including umbrella's! Only surprise and it could have been I overlooked this... there were about 15 steep stairs up to the unit. I found this a bit of a challenge as I foolishly had a 60 lb suitcase to lug up! LOL!

This is the place to stay!
Emmy greeted us warmly and gave us great restaurant and activity suggestions. She made sure we had everything we needed several times over the course of our two week stay. She’s friendly and wonderful. Location is beautiful. It’s close enough to the crazy center to make it an easy walk but far enough away to be peaceful. This is staying in a real residential neighborhood not tourist central. The apartment is clean, nicely furnished and very well maintained. It’s comfortable and livable. Definitely where we will stay when we return to Amsterdam. Thanks, Emmy, for a truly wonderful stay!!!

Property was just as described and photos accurate. As previous reviews stated there is a flight of very steep stairs. If you have agility concerns this could be a problem. Friendly street cats everywhere. Quiet neighbourhood. A unique island. Unfortunately there was a very loud party our first night. If in bedroom no problem. But sleeping on sofa bed you could hear everything till 2am. But I think we were unlucky and this does not happen usually. Apartment is small so large luggage a bit awkward. Apartment is light and clean and has all the essentials. Sofa bed a bit firm but I think guests mostly sleep in bedroom where the mattress is good. There is no body wash in shower, so bring your own. The location is great. We walked so much it was convenient for apartment to be so centrally located but still so private and quiet. Would definitely stay at Emmy’s place again.
