A very happy Christmas.

We enjoyed our stay in this very cozy property. It was just the right fit for a family holiday escape into the country. Very peaceful and beautiful. It even snowed on Christmas Day.

Beauty and Tranquility

We loved the peace and beauty of this charming farmhouse. Such a relaxing place to stay after the crowded Cumbres Toltec train ride. We appreciated how well the house was equipped, loved hearing and seeing elk, coyotes and the deer that had breakfast right by the pond. Will recommend it to others.

Beautiful scenery and wildlife

We enjoyed watching the fifteen elk graze in the meadow in the evenings and loved rowing and kayaking in the peaceful pond with our family. Really is a great escape and great way to connect with nature

Amazing views

You cannot get better views than from this house. There are mountains and water in one vast view overlooking various wildlife from chipmunk to elk. The boats were great for the kids to ride around the pond, and it was within walking steps of the house. My nine year old daughter learned to kayak for the first time. Both the girls also enjoyed the various toys like tea sets and board games provided. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy your home.

Worth Every Bump, Awesome!

The road coming to the house was a bit bumpy. The house is Awesome! Everything we needed was at our fingertips! We were greeted by a glimpse of a doe & fawn on the other side of the pond. Little did we know that the next evening the pair accompanied by another yearling came literally within 10 feet from me on the deck, just walking through as though I didn't exist, in absolutely no rush to get anywhere! As they were munching away on the lush lawn, an entire herd of elk came into view in the meadow! We couldn't wait to get back each day to enjoy the show! It feels like the house is an intricate part of the meadow! Thank you so much for sharing your home, We did not want to leave, can't wait to come back!!

A family favorite!

After staying at Elk Meadows last year, the family unanimously and enthusiastically voted to come here again this year. The house is comfortable and well stocked, and the setting is peaceful and private. The children spent hours in the pond…swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking. We will definitely be back!

Spring Break Getaway

Nothing short of excellent. Although in the end it didn’t make much of a difference, our 2 girls were a little disappointed that there were no bunk beds like the photos in the listing showed. But that was more than made up for with how beautiful everything was. Coming back for sure!!

Idyllic Setting for a Family Gathering

We stayed at the property 5 years ago and enjoyed it so much we came back. It's perfect for a family getaway with extended family. We love to sit on the deck or porch and watch the world go by. The kids (and adults) played lots of outdoor games and used the kayak and rowboat, too. We missed the badminton set, though! The turkeys, coyote, and deer out back were fabulous hosts, too. :) There was a pesky squirrel that liked to come around, but we were able to shoo him after a bit. If we have reason to be in northern New Mexico again, it's definitely our go-to place to stay!

Absolutely delightful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay…the house was adorable, incredibly well-stocked, and spotless. Everyone enjoyed kayaking, floating and swimming every day. Lots of beautiful hiking trails nearby. We were lucky to spot elk, coyotes, and other wildlife across the pond. It is a fun and peaceful place, with plenty of activities nearby, such as the Cumbres & Toltec train, wildlife area in Chama, Heron and El Vado lakes, cliff dwellings, etc. We look forward to staying again next year. Thank you for making this property available! It’s the new family favorite!

Why they chose this property

Our Santa Fe-based family purchased the property and built the home in the early 1990's as weekend getaway and gathering place for extended family and family friends. It's been a perfect place for adults to relax and kids to enjoy being outside. Our family has gotten years of enjoyment out of the home and surrounding area and we hope that your family enjoys it just as much as ours has.
