About this property

Private cottage with Sandy Beach on Arrow Lake

Our property provides the athmosphere of a private secluded summer residence with beach. The cabin is in its private little orchard overlooking our lake front pasture and our private bay with beach. The location is has a beautiful deck where you can enjoy the sunset over the mountains.
The cabin is 900 sqft of very liveable space. It was originally built in 1991 and upgraded in 2009 and 2013. The cottage fits nicely into its natural environment. The cottage consists of an open living area with sofa and futon, an open kitchen, a newly renovated bathroom, a bedroom with closet and an entrance with laundry utilities.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size stove and oven, side by side fridge, dishwasher and microwave. The living room has a TV (just for playing DVD's since we have no satellite TV), a stereo with Ipod station a sofa and futon and a woodstove.
The bedroom has a queen size bed and a closet. The bathroom has a shower/tub. The entrance with laundry has closets and a washer and dryer.
A second smaller bedroom has a bunk bed and a closet. A deck is located on the west side of the cottage with beautful views over the pasture, beach and bay. A fence surrounds the cottage and some fruit trees build a little orchard. Take a few steps off the deck to a short path that leads you down through the pasture to the beach. Across the lake there is an island to explore and within a short hike also a waterfall. The property is a total of 100 acres and offers private trails. Watch the Ospreys and Bald Eagles fish in our bay. There is always lots of wildlife around. Have fun!

In the winter you can usually snow shoe from the cottage. There is lot of wilderness to explore. Enjoy the back country and mountains with your snow mobile (please watch the avalanche reports). There is a lot of terrain in the Selkirks and Monashee mountains that is just used by our local snow mobil enthusiasts or find some hidden x-country trails. Winters are magical around the Arrow Lake with moderate temperatures and a lot of snow in the mountains. Backcountry ski exploration is a lot of fun.

Dogs:
Well behaved dogs that stay on the ground (not on sofas, beds etc.) are very welcome and if they do not run after wildlife can be kept without a leash. There is so much room to run around for dogs and with our rock bluff to the north and a meshed fence to the south it is quite safe. Our resident dog Schoko is very friendly.

Have fun!

Really beautiful spot!

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and the beds comfortable. The access to the lake was outstanding and the area is just beautiful. The trip down the driveway to the cabin is just incredible. We loved the visits from the host’s lab, such a sweet girl, and the beach access was incredible. The lake was nice and warm for swimming or playing fetch with the dogs.

Excellent Property for our Mini-moon

We decided to stay for a few nights after our wedding at this peaceful and relaxing property. We had a fabulous stay with our dog, relaxing and spending time on the beach and in/on the lake. Very private and remote. Our host was amazing and very communicative, even offering some fresh veggies during harvest season! Thank you!

Peaceful fun get away

We loved the clean well appointed cabin. We were 4 adults and 2 dogs yet felt like there was lots of room. Sabine is wonderful, very attentive to our need but she maintained our privacy....even dropped us of fresh veggies from her garden. We loved it there!!!!and the very freindly chocolate lab was an added bonus!!

Excellent and so enjoyable

The description does not do this property justice. The setting is very private, and the views of the lake are amazing. The house feels spacious, and we could see the water from the bedroom as well as the main living area. Was an easy walk to launch our kayaks, and it felt very safe to just leave them down on the water. The owners very generously allow dogs, and our dogs enjoyed swimming in the beautiful water as much as we did. What was absolutely incredible to us is how well equipped the house was. It truly had everything we needed and more than we could even imagine. All Communications with these posts have been a breeze, always prompt and. The thing we were not as prepared for as we should have been and wait really studied the math was to make sure we had more than enough groceries. Nakusp isn't more than 40 minutes away, but once we arrived at this peaceful and beautiful location, we did not want to leave. Finally, the hosts, Ulf and Sabine, were absolutely delightful, warm and generous.

Beautiful Rural Getaway

We enjoyed this property so much, it's one of the best we've ever stayed at. The views from the balcony overlooking the property and Arrow Lake were mesmerizing. Very comfortable clean cottage and a good kitchen to work in (bring your groceries!) The owner's horses in the pasture and their enthusiastic chocolate lab retriever were entertaining and only added to the rural atmosphere. Thank you!

Pristine Paradise

What a lovely offering Sabine and Ulf have for us on the shores of Arrow Lake, far from other habitation. A cabin on a small farm in the quietude of nature with a deck to overlook the magnificence of this land. Fully equipped and comfy, our stay was so-o-o-o restful and rejuvenating. The highlight was our swim in the lake of course! And diving off the raft into these clear cool waters that you can drink! Thanks for a great stay! Challamar and Joannie

A glorious place to relax and unwind

We loved every minute of our stay here. From the clean and spacious cabin to the private beach graced with friendly horses to the trails around the property. A short 45 min drive brought us through winding roads following the arrow lake to the hot springs and farmers market in nakusp. Osprey nests and bald eagles were everywhere. Paddling kayaks/canoes/SUPs on the lake was a highlight for us and the kids. Very very comfortable beds and a full kitchen made for a peaceful glamping experience. I could sit on the deck for days watching the sunset over the lake. We’ll certainly be back. ❤️👍 I would advise to bring all your groceries as the nearest store is In nakusp.

Piece of heaven

As we drive up the hill, and the lovely doe jumps across the road almost as if she’s saying goodbye, we are feeling like we’ve just left a piece of heaven on earth. The kids in the back talk about their adventures as they say goodbye to the foal and our dogs wish they could play one more time with their new friend Schoko. We went with elderly and disabled parents who found the place comfortable. Husband loved fishing along the bank where he and our daughter caught over a dozen trout in a few hours. Lake to plate does not disappoint. Sabine and her family very friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and felt like our home away from home. Looking forward to returning one day; hopefully soon.

Beautiful property, Cabin could use a touch of TLC

As beautiful as the land, beach and property was I just couldn't give the full 5 stars due to a few minor issues. As a renter of many VRBO properties I rely heavily on reviews to fill in some of the gaps in the property description. The land itself, trees, property, beach, dock are all very well maintained and beautiful. The cabin has everything you need and full kitchen but is fairly outdated. The BBQ looked brand new which was great, there was an A/C in the living area which was nice, each room had a fan also. The beach is well maintained and great for swimming, no mosquitos that we noticed either. Having the canoe and kayaks to use was a great bonus too if you want to explore or fish. As for some of the cons, you won't have completely privacy as the beach is shared with I believe 2 other rental units as well as the owners. It wasn't much of an issue for us except for 1 day where another set of renters had 2 large dogs running through our beach stuff, we got lucky most days and had the beach to ourselves. When we arrived we had a few issues, the fridge had been turned down and was very warm, we were worried our food would spoil and put them in the freezer and we ended up needing to toss them anyway as they froze, the fridge is pretty old and took over a full day to cool down. The bunk bed was very wobbly and felt unsafe to have anyone in the top bunk unless they were a small child, my kids are full grown teens and wouldn't be safe up there, so we tried to use the pull out couch, which only had 1 old single size piece of foam stuffed inside it. So we took the upper bunk which was also just an old foam piece and made a makeshift bed. The master bed was also pretty old and uncomfortable but we made do. The reclining chair felt very old and dirty, the wicker chairs are unusable. The kitchen table chairs were very old, one was broken at the top so we set it aside as to not damage it further. There was also quite a few small wasp nests around the roof. The TV has no smart features except the chromecast so I'd advise bringing your own Roku or media player. I txt'd the owner about some of the issues but didn't hear back until the next day from a different number, and when I replied to that I didn't hear back. I spoke briefly with the husband Ulf who was very kind and made sure everything was ok now. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and if some of the interior items were replaced it'd be just about perfect

A great family getaway!

The property is beautiful and right on the water. They have a selection of canoes and kayaks. The cottage itself is cute with everything you need. There is no smart TV for the evenings but we made it work. The nearest store is in Nakusp so bring your own groceries!! Once we had our groceries we didn’t need to leave again. We spent our time in the clean lake and evenings on the beach having fires!

Tranquility and your own HUGE beach

Our family enjoyed our stay at Arrow Beach. The cabin is a great choice for families, with a big flat yard around the house. The lake is a short walk down the hill through the pasture, and has an ENORMOUS beach, very sandy with a rock hunting/throwing area farther down. The resident Chocolate Lab is well behaved and we loved having her visit. The cabin has a big living room, good sized bedrooms, and huge closets to store all your things. The duvets were sooooo cozy and warm. Good blinds on the windows to keep the sun out and keep the place cool. There is an air conditioner unit near the kitchen table and fans throughout the house, however we did not need these. Bunkbeds were good for kids. The deck is composite, meaning no splinters! Look for the umbrella that attaches to the post on the deck, the deck gets a ton of sun in the afternoon. In the notebook there are directions to the hike on the property (pink flagging tape), check it out! It took us 30-45 minutes at an easy pace. There have been nuisance bears in the area, we did see some bear scat on the hike, and the fruit trees have electric fences around them. We unplugged these during the day so the kids could run around, but plugged them in at night, and it was no trouble. Sabine and Ulf obviously take care to give their guests privacy, they do live at the house just down the way however are busy taking care of the sizeable property, and other than the occasional chat in passing, we were mostly left to enjoy our own family quiet time. I’m sure if we needed more assistance they would have obliged. I suggest packing a few extra kitchen things (oven mitts, wooden mixing spoons, large bowls). The property is perfect for families looking for peace and quiet, which was exactly what we were hoping for.

Hi, my name is Sabine and I love to share our property with guests. It is just my husband Ulf and myself sharing our property with our guests and we usually do not see each other aside from on the beach.

Why they chose this property

Our family fell in love with the Kootenays and our property in 1990. It was the location, climate, the beach and lake, the long summer seasons the clear water, fishing and space that we loved. We raised our kids on the property and since they have left to other parts of the world like to share the beauty of the place.

What makes this property unique

Privacy, unspoiled beach, no crowds, room to breathe, freedom, quiet, clean water, in the woods, lots of trees including old apple trees and wild cherries as well as walnuts and other, wildlife and wildflowers ...
