Lazy Timbers is private, peaceful and secluded. We are located in the North Carolina Appalachian Mountains situated just south of the Tennessee border (9 miles) off of state road 294. It’s just beautiful here. This time of year, the leaves are changing so sitting out front next to the fire pit enjoying the cool breeze through the timbers is what it’s all about. I come here to relax, unwind and to get away from all my work stresses while still enjoying the modern amenities of home. Our home was recently fitted with a new heating and air conditioning system that was installed in 2017. We also installed a state of art water filtration system and tankless hot water system. Lazy Timbers has two full bedrooms. The master bedroom has a brand-new king mattress with cozy and comfortable linens. The guest bedroom comes with a pillow top queen mattress with the same comfortable linens. The downstairs living room is fitted with 2 new twin beds and a natural gas fire place. The downstairs area is setup as a game room with a Foosball table, dart board and board games. Our kids love to hang out in the upstairs loft that has an additional twin bed. It’s such a cool place to sit back on the bean bag chair and stare at the stars through the moon roof. Lazy Timbers has two full bathrooms. The living area has a wide-open floor plan and is spacious but inviting for the entire family that includes a queen size pullout bed. The sunroom room offers a beautiful full view of the surrounding foliage with the comforts of two large couches to curl up and watch a movie on the big LCD TV. The kitchen has been modernized with all the necessary cooking utensils, pots and pans you would expect in your own kitchen and even a Kuerig 2.0 coffee maker (bring your K-cups).
Lazy Timbers lets you disconnect without being disconnected. We offer free wireless high-speed internet and Satellite TV with a full complement of channels for everyone. Lazy Timbers is a 2.5-hour ride from Atlanta or a 1.5-hour ride from the Knoxville, TN. Our property is physically located on the backside of the mountain where the large ten commandments of Fields of the Wood is located. I can literally walk out the front door, up the hill and find myself looking down on the 10 commandments. What a view, very hard to describe you just have to experience it! The Murphy area provides a wealth of things to do. The recently constructed Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino is located only 30 minutes away along a beautiful country road. White water rafting is about an hour in each direction with the Ocoee river (12yo and Older) for the more experienced rafters or the Nantahala River (7yo and Older) for the family. Lake Hiawassee is just minutes away and provides a wealth of outdoor activities like swimming, fishing, boating, tubing and pontoon boat rentals for the entire family to enjoy. My family and I enjoy geocaching and have found lots of beautiful tucked away waterfalls in the area and beautiful mountainous trails searching for treasures. Historic downtown Murphy is about a 20-minute drive away. The town of Murphy offers modern restaurants, antique shops, an ice cream store and even a Walmart a little further down the road. The drive to the property is gorgeous. You will drive a paved winding road from Highway 64/74 up the mountain through some of the most beautiful views. The community boasts a small pond at the base of the driveway where there are bass and catfish ready to be caught (please catch and release for future guests). The private driveway has ample space to park your RV or several large vehicles. If you are quiet enough in the mornings the driveway seems to be a nice spot for the local deer to graze (no hunting please).
We enjoy outdoor grilling. We have a grill located on the outside porch area (BYOC - bring your own charcoal). With a couple of Adirondack chairs on the porch, my wife and I like to drink a glass of wine together as we watch the fire pit below and enjoy our peaceful surroundings.
