St. Michael's Place Retreat

Fiber optic ATT WiFi with Roku tv, board games, and play activities for the little ones plus a sitting room with lifecycle cardio-fitness bike. Out back is a private deck overlooking a lovely garden complete with gas grill and charcoal grill.

In the garage you'll find two bikes, two beach chairs, boogie boards, beach cooler, umbrella and mats for your convenience. Fenced in front and back yards for your kids and pets.

Unlike most VRBOs, this home is fully equipped with incidentals: paper products, trash bags, foil, spices, etc. so you wont need to trouble yourself with extras. Just bring your personal toiletries, cloths and food and enjoy.

MUSC and Roper Hospital are 5-10 minutes from the home. Rent is sliding scale based on insurance. Please inquire as we would love to help.

St Michael's Place
Loved our time at St Michael's Place. Great house and neighborhood. And our dog loved going to the dog park just down the street. She made a lot of new friends. The neighborhood is very quiet and neighbors are friendly. If ever in Charleston again will definitely stay there. Trish was wonderful to work with too.

Great House in Nice Neighborhood!
We stayed here for a month when we moved to Charleston while waiting to close on our house. Home is very nice and in a nicer, older neighborhood that has Oak Trees lining the streets on James Island. Location is great. Downtown is less than a 10 minute drive. Folly beach is 20 minutes. There are restaurants on James Island only minutes away. The Charleston Muni golf course is about 2 minutes away. House is well appointed and has everything you need for your stay. Propane grill on on nice deck out back. Two bikes and stuff for the beach in the garage. House is awesome for a dog as well since both front and backyards have a fence. Would definitely recommend this place.

Perfect location. Everything we needed.
Property was perfect for me and my family (two adults, three teens). Quiet residential neighborhood was convenient to Folly Beach, downtown Charleston, and everything else we could have wanted. Far enough from the beach to avoid the busyness of the tourist crowds. The house was also equipped with everything we needed in terms of cookware and cooking supplies (olive oil, spices, etc) which really cut down on how much needless shopping we needed to do. In our downtime it was a great, peaceful neighborhood to just take a walk through.

Absolutely perfect
I honestly can not say enough good things about this home. It was the perfect location to Everything. The neighborhood is quite but perfect for walks in the evening. The house itself is a sweet, simple house perfect for what we needed. My Dog loved the fenced in yard to run and play. The 17 year old loved the sunroof and used it as her room while we were there. It has a come home feeling. We had no issues so we did not have to call the owner, but the day we left I called to let her know how much we enjoyed our stay and she was very nice. We will be back.

Nice older home in a great neighborhood, close to everything.
Owner easy to work with and easy to contact. Home is I a great location. Nice neighborhood close to everything. Would have given a 5 star rating but the House had a musty smell to it and I would not recommend to anyone who may be sensitive to smells. We had to burn scented candles the entire week to help cover the odor.

What a charming and cozy home! We enjoyed our month, escaping the Winter in the North. Folly Pier was great and only a short drive. The location is very handy, close to shopping and restaurants. The gardens in the back are very interesting, many birds too.

Cozy Christmas Stay
We felt right at home here for the holidays. The location was great... lovely neighborhood with easy access to everything. The fully stocked kitchen/pantry was particularly appreciated. We found the home and Charleston itself to be very dog-friendly. Would definitely stay there again if visiting the area.

Comfortable, great neighborhood, lots of little touches
Thank you! We felt right at home. When we arrived my husband bumped his head on the car and we quickly found the first aid kit and bandaids we needed. Comfy bed, great fenced in yards for our pup, coffee filters, lots of towels, great books to read. Easy in and out of the city and Folly Beach. Lovely porch, bicycles, great spot! Don’t miss James Island dog park, everyone so friendly!

Warm and comforting.
Trish's place was like having a home away from home. It was obvious that lots of love went into it and it was exactly the kind of place we needed for our stay. We were there for medical treatment at MUSC and Trish made our trip a little less stressful because of her understanding and generosity. I would highly recommend it if you prefer to be away from the tourist areas or are in need of a refuge for medical care.

Amazing oasis close to everything!
This house was perfect in every way. Although I travelled just by myself, it would be ideal for families with children. The layout of the house is very open, much bigger than in photos, with many choices for sleep and play areas and lots of parking. I brought two large dogs, one an escape artist, and both the front and back yards were secure and fun for them. It's great to be able to park right in the long driveway by the front gate for unloading the pups and luggage. The backyard goes back more than you see in photos, and the natural landscaping provided them a cool place to sniff and explore. The street is shady and only one block from famous Wapoo Drive, and very close to a lot of well known eateries. You could walk to many. Easy and fast to downtown Charleston and beaches. You could just tell that it would be awesome to live in this neighborhood. The best for me was that steps away is a perfect park to take dogs for shaded, leash- free play, as there is a fenced in portion of the park. To top it off, the most amazing dog park I've seen in my life is not far at James County Park, with its lake for dogs. Because it was so hot while I was there, Trish's central air was a godsend. Everything worked perfectly and was spotless, with ample provisions for cooking, cleaning, linens and entertainment. You can tell Trish takes a lot of care in her home and is thoughtful about details. She is very responsive to any questions. Thank you for a magical place to rest my road-weary bones and fall in love with Charleston!! Thank you for being a truly pet friendly place

The house felt like home to me.
It was comfortable. My dogs were happy. I had family visit and there was plenty of room. The neighborhood was peaceful. I was out and about, mostly at my daughter's home. She lives in Charleston and was my main reason for visiting the area. Being from the northeast, the warmer temps were great. I would just sit and have my coffee on the back deck in the mornings and loved the "early spring" for me. Thanks Trish.

Perfect
I stayed here for the month of June while doing some graduate course work through Clemson and College of Charleston. The location of the house is absolutely perfect, only 15 mintues to downtown and about 20 to the beach. It says a lot about a city when after a month of checking things off the to-do list you've ended up adding more than you've done as well as a lot about a house when after a few short hours you feel very much at home. A word of caution, the beds are very, very hard and springy. If that's not what you're used to pick up a mattress pad before you go. Everything else, including Trish were so lovely it would not deter me from another stay, I'll just plan accordingly next time. Check out the Tattooed Moose on Johns Island for a laid back lunch. Sweetwater Cafe on James Island for breakfast. LB sweets and treats on James ISLAND for croissants or pastries. Crust also on James Island for brick oven pizza, fresh salads and a good beer selection.

I moved to Charleston in 1991 and fell in love with James Island immediately. It has that perfect combination of small town atmosphere and large city amenities. St Michael's Place was my quiet home and garden retreat for 12 years until I built another home around the corner. You just can't beat living so close to everything Charleston without feeling like a tourist.

Why they chose this property

St Michael's Place is a true retreat located in Riverland Terrace, THE OLD VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD close to Folly Beach and Historic Charleston. Amazing golfing, boating, biking, walking, shopping, restaurants and farmers' market all within walking distance.
Unlike other properties, this one is equipped with just about everything you'll need to stay and have fun. Just bring food and clothes.

What makes this property unique

Historic Avenue of grand live oak trees
Historic Fort Pemberton
Waterfront neighborhood with boat landing
Two play parks
Walking distance to everything essential -movies, restaurants, bars, spas, etc.
