Ideal Property
We had an excellent week long stay. The property is well maintained, well equipped, and very comfortable. Nice rural location, but short trip to visit KC.

Kansas family reunion
Absolutely beautiful home, our second stay there. The house is a treasure. Our best times were sitting and having early morning coffee on the porch (a bit of turnpike noise but tolerable) with a couple sightings of a doe and fawn. We had to to get the televisions and wi-fi working the first night. Someone responded fairly quickly. The network name was incorrect on our check in information and there was some confusion with the password we received and the one given by the gentleman who was taking care of our call. The next night we tried grilling and the grill was out of gas. Another call and a quick response with a new tank. Now comes my biggest concern:There was a huge storm, all our phones went off with a tornado warning. Then we realized that there are no instructions about where to take shelter. We later saw that there is an "Auntie Em" style shelter on the back side of the house. Perhaps consider including some time of information about this on site. We love staying there and certainly plan to return. Thank you for your excellent care of this immaculate farm house.

Great farmhouse!
We flew into Topeka to visit our daughter at KU. It was a busy football weekend, so we wanted to avoid Lawrence as much as practical. This farmhouse was the perfect solution to stay outside of town in a peaceful area, but not far from Lawrence, or Topeka. The house was well-equipped, very clean, and beautifully remodeled. We really enjoyed our stay!

Not quite as expected
The location and overall property outside was great, and the property management rep was outstanding. There are three reasons we give this location a rating of 3 stars. One is due to an abundance of gnats inside the house. I grew up in this area so I’m all aware there are a lot of bugs, but the amount of gnats, especially in the kitchen was over the top. There were also cobwebs hanging from the ceiling fans in most of the rooms. This could be because it hadn’t been stayed in for a while but it didn’t help from a creepiness factor. Second reason to give this property a rating of three is what was not shown in the pictures of the property. There were several lithograph type photographs hanging in various rooms and in the stairwell of the property. These photos were beyond creepy and added to an overall creepy vibe for the property. The house itself is beautifully redone and you can tell a lot of care was taken in the rebuilding of the property, but the decor is dark and the feel of the inside of the home is dark and the creepy portraits throughout the property did not help the overall vibe, nor did it lend a to decent nights sleep for myself or my kids. With some change of decor and some work on the bugs it could be quite charming. The third reason I can’t give this property more than three stars is the Wi-Fi was horrible. If you’re planning to book this property and connect you will be incredibly disappointed. Cell service and a hotspot was much for more effective than the Wi-Fi.

Beautiful Backdrop for a Quiet Christmas
My husband and I spent a few days in this beautiful farmhouse surrounded by the peaceful countryside of Kansas for our Christmas this year. Our two grown children joined us for Christmas morning brunch and presents. In these times, it was a safe alternative to a big family gathering, but it still felt close and cozy. I agree with other reviewers that it is difficult to reach Kevin by email, but text worked better, so try that. Evolve is great to work with and were quick to try to help with communication as well. This is a beautiful, historic home and you will definitely enjoy your time here!

Beautifully restored country home on lovely grounds.
The house and grounds are wonderful. Our main concern was in lack of contact with the owner/manager. Four times over a two week period I either sent a message via VRBO or emailed the person listed as the contact. I asked the simple questions if coffee was provided and if we were free to explore the barns on the property. No response of any kind. We also have a VRBO property so I understand how easy it should be to contact the property manager. We ended up taking our own coffee (though it turned out there was coffee there).

Perfect place for a peaceful weekend

Socially distanced vacation
This house was a perfect spot to meet up with my daughters for a safe, relaxing and enjoyable visit! It is very clean and well maintained. Located away from town, on several acres, we had plenty of space to stay outside in the daytime and enjoy sunsets and sunrises from the spacious wrap-around porch. The bedrooms are on separate floors and there are two bathrooms, so we had plenty of space indoors as well. The decor is tasteful and interesting. Beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed the original features that were preserved, as well as the modern updates. There are two state parks within 20 minutes so we were able to enjoy a day on the beach at Lake Clinton. It was exactly what we needed! Thank you

Country getaway
We enjoyed our stay overall but our experience with the property manager was terrible. We tried to extend our stay but never heard back, and couldn't get a hold of them through phone, email or otherwise, so we eventually gave up. It was a very frustrating experience. The house itself is super cute and has a beautiful setting. There is quite a bit of noise from the highway, though, but you sort of get used to it.

We love this charming farmhouse!
This is our second time staying in this sweet farmhouse for the annual KC Hardwood Classic in Lawrence. This house has all of the comforts of home and is fully stocked with everything you might need. I'm very particular about cleanliness and cleaning person (or staff) does a phenomenal job. The property manager, Kevin, is quick to respond and helpful. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. It is so relaxing to sit out on the porch and enjoy the breeze. We had a team dinner there both years and everyone has a great time! Hopefully we'll be back next year!

Outstanding property and hosts!
We volunteer at Tallgrass Parrot Sanctuary and have always had to stay at a hotel in Lawrence and drive back and forth. So imagine our shock when we found this lovely restored house in Lecompton, within walking distance of the sanctuary! Everything we could possibly need or want was in the house. It has been lovingly restored and is beautiful and restful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Amazingly restored farmhouse with ALL the modern amenities!
This Farmhouse was incredible! We couldn't have asked for better accomodations! Recently restored this gorgeous farmhouse is clean, comfortable, and spacious. Everything we needed was there! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to bake/cook/prep meals, plenty of linens, comfortable and plentiful seating, and topped off with a helpful, friendly caretaker! This beautiful property allows for quiet, serene sunrises, enjoyable meals in the inviting dining room, rest, relaxation, and peace. Thank you for renovating this home so beautifully. It will be a treasured memory for our family, and we expect to return to it often as we have family in the area! Thank you again! We look forward to our next visit.

A True Gem!
This place is fantastic! A lovely farmhouse close to Lawrence and Topeka. It's in a rural area with big charm. Inside, it is decorated in Rustic-Modern farm decor, down to the tiniest details. This home is incredibly spacious and clean, which is so important to me. There is a perfect little kitchen, fully equipped, a charming dining room off the kitchen, two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a laundry room, all done with great style. The wraparound porch is outfitted with comfortable furniture for dining and lounging. There's a huge yard in back where we enjoyed throwing bean bags and grilling. The Property Manager is readily available for questions, yet respects your privacy completely. We would love to stay here again if we are ever back in the area!

Country Gem
We rented the farmhouse for a mother/ daughter weekend. We grew up in the country and greatly missed being able to go out to the farm for weekends. The yard was nicely mowed and maintained. The deck and other porches were great for just sitting outside in the evening and for dining when we grilled. The house was very clean and cozy with several rooms quite roomy ( dining room, kitchen). The lower bedroom was nice sized with two walk-in closets and the upstairs bedroom was very large. There were bathrooms on both levels and the laundry room was upstairs. The older farm items such as the stove, claw foot tub, and water pump have been restored and add great character to the home. The country charm is maintained combined with modern amenities. The decorative touches in the kitchen on the microwave, stove, and dishwasher provided wonderful character to the kitchen. We did not find a can opener or bakeware but there was nice dinnerware and the skillets were in good condition. There was also a coffee bean grinder. The beds were comfortable and the bedding nice. The beds had pillows with shams but not just pillows with pillowcases. This was not an issue for us as we travel with our own pillows usually. Our elderly mother did fine on the main level. The main level bathroom has the claw foot tub with a shower head but if anyone has mobility issues they might keep this in mind. The upstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower. The toilet height was good and not too low. We have learned with time to consider all these things when traveling with our mother. The flat screen TV had Dish TV. Kevin, our local contact, was friendly and did a good job taking care of any questions we had. We liked the fact that the property was gated with video surveillance. We went into town and ate at Aunt Netters Cafe and bought steaks at Kroger Meats. We also visited Constitution Hall. We had a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend. There are lakes in this area for other types of activities. We took a day trip to Atchison and Overland Park is also less than an hour away. Overall we had a wonderful weekend at this charming country home. We loved our stay!

Very relaxing!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this little farm house. Everything was new and clean. Though I'll tell you the owner has a camera installed by the back door which he does use and speak to you through which was a bit awkward and startling as we didn't know it was there. So be advised. Also we had some trouble with the thermostat in the upstairs bedroom. The heat would kick on every two hours and when it is 90 some degrees outside it makes it miserable to sleep. But really on the whole it is a beautiful house with many great amenities. We loved the time we were able to stay there.
