Awesome views of Lake Superior from the South Shore in authentic log cabin.

The St. Croix is an authentic log cabin nestled on the South Shore of Lake Superior. It is located just 3 miles west of the quaint town of Port Wing,Wi. which is the halfway point between Superior and Bayfield Wisconsin. The views and access to the big lake are spectacular! The cabin is heated by a beautiful gas stove fireplace along with electric wall heat if needed. We provide full fiber internet and a flat screen TV with Dish. Enjoy the log furnishings, along with the loft stairway - leading to a queen log bed in the loft giving you views of the big lake. Once outside you have access to a private fire pit with wood provided. Enjoy viewing the beautiful sunsets from the log swing or park bench- both located on the bluff. You can walk the 180 feet of sandy beach while looking for agates or skipping rocks, or grab a towel & bring a good book and chill. There’s a basket of brochures in the cabin with suggestions of the various restaurants and tourist attractions in the area. Be sure to check out all the unique waterfalls in the area, along with the numerous hiking trails, biking and kayaking opportunities…
The quaint town of Port Wing offers a great little store called: Johnsons which offers all the basic groceries, along with fresh & smoked fish, and gas. The town has two bar/ restaurants and a great marina and two separate beaches. They even have a coffee shop! The next towns going SE towards Bayfield are Herbster & Cornucopia both have beaches, restaurants and shops to explore. Bayfield is a beautiful town filled with lots to see & do. A must do is to take the ferry and explore Madeline Island… of course.. you may just want to stay at the St. Croix and embrace the sounds & pace of the Big Lake! Watch for the eagles that visit daily along with looking for the big ore boats that seek passage into Duluth. We hope you’ll enjoy this one of a kind place.

Beautiful view
This was the perfect take off point for our apostle islands trip. It was more of a drive to Bayview but more than made up with it with the lake view and private little beach. The space is small but nice bed and well stocked kitchen. I do wish there was a couch, because most of the seating was wooden so not as comfortable for movie watching on a rainy day. Overall would definitely recommend

I was in town visiting family for a few days and booked this place to have my own space, with my 6-year old. It was very peaceful, I loved the swings/and chairs by the lake. I was lucky that my husband did not join me on this trip - as the cabin saids it sleeps four, but definitely only sleeps two (in the upstairs loft). That being said, this would be the perfect honeymoon/couples cabin. Kitchen was stocked with the very basics. I'd recommend bringing some extra towels, as I booked the cabin for two - and only found two towels (for our two day stay). If we needed something extra with all the sand or perhaps any extra shower, it could of been interesting. Overall, I would stay again! While I didn't communicate with the host on anything, they had messaged me details for traveling and checking-in, which was helpful. Port Wing and the surrounding area is beauty, lots to explore, so recommend as well if you're looking for a new area.

Great rental property.
Overall the place was very clean. The view of the lake was spectacular. We didn’t spend much time at the rental as we had a family weekend outing in Herbster. We would highly recommend staying here.

Secluded, yet close to several towns
Very much enjoyed our stay at the cabin in Port Wing. The cabin was beautiful and very clean. It was stocked with everything you might need. There was a short walk to the lake and I could see the lake and hear the waves from the cabin. I contacted the host a couple times and they were very responsive. The whole minnie vacation was stress free!

Perfect Quiet Getaway
My husband and I booked the cabin for a last minute getaway. It was perfect for the two of us. The host was super communicative and there were instructions for everything you could need in the cabin. The bench overlooking the lake was perfect for watching the sunset each night. The steps down to the sandy little beach were a little rugged and could prove difficult for some. The kitchen is small but they have just about everything you need in there. I would recommend bringing your own shampoo, conditioner, soaps.

The cabin was very cute and cozy, short walk to firepot and beach. There was a bench and swing to lounge in and watch the lake. Make sure you check out near by falls and quarry point. We really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect getaway
This cabin was the perfect getaway! The cabin itself was very clean and cozy but truthfully we spent most of our time sitting outside on the deck grilling, on the swing overlooking the lake or sitting on the beach enjoying sunrise and sunset. Cute little town about 30 mins east. Communication and check in info was easy and quick! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful cottage on Lake Superior
This is our second stay at this property, both times the week before Grandma's Marathon in Duluth. It is a wonderful place to get away and relax before punishing ourselves during the marathon! We had some wonderful sunsets sitting in the living room or in the loft. As we drove into Port Wing on the day of our arrival we even saw a black bear. We hope to return again next year!

Great Stay
The cabin is exactly as described and pictured. Good communication with the owner and easy access into the cabin. The location is fantastic with a private bonfire area and access to the beach. The only negative about the cabin is that there really isn't a comfortable sitting/lounging area on the main level by the TV. There is a comfy chair but the wooden bench was not comfortable. It was raining all day the one day we were there and it would have been nice to lounge in front of the TV. Other than that, the little cabin was perfect! Check out Cranberry Over Superior for a great breakfast and the Fish Shed in Cornucopia for lunch.

31st Anniversary
For the first time in 21yrs, my husband and I were able to take a trip to celebrate our anniversary! This cabin getaway was perfect! Small but just the right size for the two of us! And to be right next to Lake Superior was the cherry on top! First time to Wisconsin and first time to Lake Superior! Thank you for a marvelous anniversary gift!

Why they chose this property

10 years ago I had a appointment in Bayfield that fell through to the next day. I had never been on the South Shore and had a day to look around. Cherie and I would visit the North Shore two to three times a year. We have not been north of Duluth for over 10 years as we fell in love with the sunsets, sandy beaches, and warmer water. The South Shore has so many outdoor options without the crowds. So much to see and do from Port Wing , Herbster, Cornucopia, Bayfield and Ashland. We are located at the halfway point from Duluth to Bayfield offering the opportunity to visit both during your stay or simply just hunker down at the shore.

What makes this property unique

We have always wanted to build a log cabin so somehow we ended up building 3 of them. Starting in spring of 2024 we rent out two twin log cabins. The log cabins are authentic hand hued very cute little houses that folks are really enjoying. Both cabins have everything you need for a short stay. Both cabins have nice views of the South Shore from inside and out. Each cabin have a queen bed in the loft that is ideal for a party of two. We do allow additional guests (2) with a memory foam option for children 4-17. We highly suggest that for comfort reasons 4 adults should look for other options outside of Superior View LLC
