About this property

Buckingham Palace Apartment with early check-in

Back on VRBO after a 5-year long let, Albany Court is a delightful apartment situated in-between the Royal Family's residence, Buckingham Palace, and The Houses of Parliament.

This is a one-bedroomed apartment with US zip and link king bed which can be split into two twins and an additional twin murphy wall bed (in the living room), directly next to St James's Park tube station's side entrance

We have owned this apartment for almost 20 years.

The apartment is currently being spruced up with new furniture, repaint and some additional touches like a Nespresso machine.

Albany Court is on the 1st floor and has an elevator. Located on the corner of Palmer Street and Petty France (please see the street map link below), it's situated in one of London's most prestigious neighbourhoods - the regal and historical district of Saint James's Park, beside Mayfair.

Listen to the King's regimental brass band practice during some lunchtimes in the grounds adjacent to the apartment from your apartment.

Why not take a Royal stroll alongside your London home? Saint James's Park is a magnificent sweep of open lawns, trees, and gardens with a lake at its very heart!

Once you've crossed the park, you'll arrive at the Mall - a broad open avenue that runs between Trafalgar Square, London's Theatreland, and Buckingham Palace. You'll notice Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch on the right, with Buckingham Palace on the left. The Mall is lined with many stately buildings.

Check to see if the 'Royal Standard', the King's flag is flying outside Buckingham Palace - this means she's at home!

Catch the Changing of the Guards or visit the state rooms of Buckingham Palace itself or the state carriages and splendid horses at the Royal Mews.

Check the London Tourist Board's website to see what's happening (the King's Birthday, Lord Mayor Show, etc.). Albany Court will give you an advantage when all these events are on, as you're so close to all the action!

To the right of Albany Court are the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames and Westminster Abbey. You can literally adjust your wristwatch to Big Ben within two minutes of leaving Albany Court. At the Houses of Parliament, visit the House of Lords, House of Commons, and the 'Strangers' Galleries.'

Westminster Abbey is the ceremonial site of almost every British coronation from William the Conqueror in 1066 to Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Monarchs buried here include Henry VII, Elizabeth I, and Mary, Queen of Scots. Nearby is the Tomb to the Unknown Warrior and Poet's Corner, the resting place of Chaucer, Robert Browning, and Alfred Tennyson among others. Number Ten Downing Street, the Prime Minister's office, is also nearby.

The River Thames is besides the Houses of Parliament. At Westminster Pier, catch a boat to the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Tate Modern art gallery, Saint Paul's Cathedral, and Greenwich to visit its Maritime Museum and Observatory. Alternatively, visit the London Eye, London Aquarium, and South Bank Arts Centre just a walk over Westminster Bridge.

You will also be surrounded by London's - if not the world's - greatest art collections: The Royal Academy (home to Constable, Gainsborough, etc.), Tate Britain (Hockney, Turner, and British art from the 1500s onwards), The National Gallery (Van Gogh, Monet, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Goya, and Rembrandt), or take a Damien Hirst-designed boat to the Tate Modern (Dali, Picasso, Mattisse, Munch, Pollock, Lichtenstin, etc.).

For some shopping therapy, visit Pall Mall, Picadilly Circus, Regent Street, Oxford Street, or New Bond Street. Foodies will love Fortnum and Mason's food hall. To stock up on general groceries go to various mini supermarkets such as Little Waitrose on Victoria Street just round the corner (only 100 metres away).

The side entrance of Saint James's Park tube station is RIGHT BESIDE Albany Court. This is extremely convenient for all, particularly those travelling to/from Heathrow Airport.

Gatwick Airport travellers just take the Gatwick Express train to/from Victoria Train Station, which is just at the end of Victoria Street and literally a five-minute taxi journey.

The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, gas hob, electric oven and dishwasher

The bathroom was recently remodelled and features a Matki shower enclosure, natural light, and a heated towel rail (October to April). The entire flat is bathed in sunlight as the ceilings are very high and it benefits from both south and west aspects.

There's fibre internet with a speed of around 50 Mbps, and smart TV (bring your Netflix login details)

Rent with confidence from owners with 20 years experience of accommodating VRBO-ers.

Albany Court is waiting to offer you a truly ROYAL experience!

Fantastic Apartment near Buckingham Palace
The apartment was incredible. As described, the kitchen had new appliances, the king- size bed (U.S.) was very comfortable and the shower was awesome. Plenty of closet space for storage. One small issue- because There is no electric all outlet in the bathroom, had to go to another room to blow dry hair. Would have been helpful to have a wall mirror in bedroom to be able to accomplish this. Location of the apartment is great. Just around the corner from the palace and near other attractions as well. The Tube station was just down street so if you were going farther afield, it was convenient. The lift in the building was out of order but just a flight of stairs to apt. We really loved the apartment and area- we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

A perfect location for sightseeing
We stayed here for the last 10 days of a 30-day trip, and it was perfect for our needs. We were able to wash clothes and fix food and watch TV when we were tired of seeing the sights. The Tube station is next door, and it’s an easy walk to the cool sights and Victoria Street and Station. Highly recommended.

Great flat close to Westminster!
We loved staying in the heart of the city so close to Westminster and half a block from the underground. Getting around London is so much easier underground than on the roads. It was great to be so close to St James park as well - especially if you are a morning runner. Having 2 rooms for 3 people was also so much better than a hotel. The single Murphy bed in the main room has a very soft mattress, better for smallest person in the party. The king size bed in master was a true king - very comfortable! Finding the front door to the flat is a bit of a challenge, but if you read all of the instructions and pay attention to the online pictures, you can figure out where to hunt for the door. Anita was very responsive and always helpful!

Great In Town Stay
This is a refurbished flat next to the Ministry of Justice, just a block off St James Park and within walking distance of all the major Whitehall and Westminster attractions. Exceptionally clean and well equipped for short and long stays, it is truly in the heart of London. That being said, there is more noise than if you were in the country, which is to be expected. The area is safe with plenty of eating options, as well as the St James Underground station within steps, Starbucks and shopping close by. Great value for the money and outstanding location!

Great flat, great location!
We loved this flat. It had more than enough room for 3 people. It is in a great location, walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben etc... Right next to the Underground and Starbucks. Owner was very responsive via emails for all of our questions. We would rent this place again!

Great flat; Great owner!
This was a great flat that was centrally located (one minute walk to Tube station) and had all of the amenities we needed. The flat was only eclipsed by the owner, who was quick to respond to questions and provided the best communication we've ever experienced.

Clean & Comfortable Flat in Ideal Location
This clean and tidy flat, where we stayed for eight days in August, was quite spacious and comfortable for the two of us. The photos seem to depict spaces smaller than they are. The bright bathroom is modern with a great shower. The quiet bedroom contains a large, comfortable bed and plenty of closet space. There are books, a TV, a sofa, a Murphy bed and a small dining table in the main room, which has ample light and square footage to serve as a convenient multi-purpose space. The kitchen is small, but is well-stocked and functional; it was more than adequate for our needs. It has been noted in other reviews that the flat is not air-conditioned. True, but we experienced warmer than normal temperatures in London and still found the flat to be comfortable. Windows can be opened when appropriate, and there are at least two fans that kept the air moving. The location of this flat is simply ideal. Guests who like to walk will appreciate its proximity to Westminster Abbey, Parliament, St. James's Park, the London Eye, Churchill's War Rooms, Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery. Guests who prefer to ride, or who want to explore attractions farther north or east, will be delighted that the St. James's Park Tube Station is just down the street or around the corner (depending on the entrance/exit used). We found the Adam & Eve Pub (across the street) and other pubs and eateries along nearby Victoria Street to be really convenient for casual dining and drinking. Anita is the very pleasant and capable owner of the flat, who was always very prompt and helpful in responding (by email) to our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Anita's flat and strongly recommend it.

Great location, Very nice and clean. It provides everthing you need
Overall, you could not pick a better location. Tub station is just around the corner. In between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abby. Walking distance or short tube ride to all of the great sites. The only issue, is the flat is not air conditioned. Not normally a problem in London, but last week was pretty warm. But overall, I would highly recommend this Flat.

Perfect location for a homely stay
Although this is a lovely 'no frills' one bedroom first floor apartment, it is very spacious, clean and comfortable with use of an elevator as well as stairs. Ideal location for exploring London both on foot and tube: underground station - St James Park - is just around the corner. As apartment is in a business area, the area is quiet at night. Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, St James Park, eateries, supermarket/convenience stores etc. are within easy walking distance. Bedroom - spacious with king size bed and ample wardrobe space. Lounge - has a comfortable couch for relaxing after a busy day exploring. Kitchen - although not large is well equipped. Bathroom - modern with shower cubicle, WC but no bath. Washer and dryer - easy to use, the short 20min cycle on washer is very convenient We enjoyed our stay, thankyou Anita.

Fabulous location and so close to the Tube!
You really can't beat the total package that this flat offers - fabulous location (heart of Westminster), beside St. James Park and EVERYTHING, so close to the tube station you could sleep there, neat, clean and quiet at night since this is the 'government' end of London but a quiet pub across the street, a grocery 2 blocks away, a great KING size bed (a rarity in London) AND an elevator (a rarity in many buildings in Europe). The owner was always prompt responding to questions. The price is very attractive when you factor in that it sleeps 3 people and you have kitchen facilities. The living area is a big spartan but suits a group of three perfectly! Loved it and will probably book it again when in London.

Location, Quality, Comfort, and Convenient - All There!!!!
This is the absolute best place to stay in London for all ages. My 90 year "young" Mom was able to take the elevator to this wonderful, comfortable flat! You are able to walk,. catch a bus, ride the tube, and/or take a train. There are range of dining places, grocery store, convenient store, Adam & Eve Pub, etc. close by. You are withing walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminister, museums, upscale shopping, etc. We did not spend a lot of time in flat, but enjoyed every moment we were there. We had some questions for Anita during trip, and she was extremely responsive by both phone calls and emails. Whatever our concerns were they were taken care of immediately. She is an awesome host with well stocked kitchen, tourist books if needed, great wifi, probably tv (never turned it on), plenty of bedding and towels, and quick to return deposit. I would highly recommend this flat to all travelers to London! It made our trip so much more special!

Great Location and Perfect for our Family
Anita was fantastic and prompt with her responses while booking... I would certainly give her 5 stars. The location is hard to beat... which also gets 5 stars. We ended up walking almost everywhere and the tube is just a stones throw away from the apartment. We took the Heathrow Express into downtown London and hailed an Uber to the corner and was in our room within an hour after getting out of customs... The place has several modern touches, especially the bathroom which had adequate water pressure and a fabulous shower head... In our week stay we took advantage of the washer and dryer in the apartment. There was indeed a Murphy bed but we didn't have a need for it and only used the other room to relax a bit between our trips. I have no regrets and would happily return on future visits. There is a convenient book that has everything you would need to know about the apartment and the surrounding area. Literally a 5-10 minute walk to the park, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Parliament and Westminster Abby. Amazing... We ended up taking the tube everywhere else in London... We went in December and the weather was great... A little cool at night in the 40's and 50's and overcast skies but beautiful and not much rain that I can think of...

Close, Convenient & Comfortable
We chose this apartment for the location and it turned out to be excellent. The flat was comfortable and clean with lots of light. It is located in a quiet area of town, as it is surrounded mostly by office buildings. We felt safe, could it be because the New Scotland Yard was a block away? We always used the stairs but there is a small lift. The flat is on the second floor (or as they say, 1st floor), over a convenience store and across from a pub. It is one minute walk from the St. James Tube Station, by a Starbucks, and a block from the Post Office. Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and Parliament were five minutes walk one way, with Buckingham Palace ten minutes the other, so the location was splendid. The kitchen was well equipped for small meals. The washer/dryer was convenient though slow. The locked entrance to Albany Court as well as the door to our flat felt safe. We will stay here again if we get the chance.

Thanks for a great spot!
The best place to begin my comments is with Anita. She was very responsive during the booking process, met us at the apartment with the keys, showed us how to work all of the appliances and went out of her way to ensure our stay was great. I've booked several vacation properties over the years. Anita was the best property owner by a landslide. Now the property itself.....was terrific. I'm not sure how you find a quiet street with only a 7 minute walk to Buckingham Palace and Big Ben in central London, but if that's what you're looking for, this is the flat. It had the room my wife and I needed, and all the amenities required to make our 9 day stay great. We walked everywhere from this apartment, and with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, we were never too far from what we needed, or wanted to do. Oh, and the bed was fantastic! The marriage of a great property owner with a great property is hard to find. If that's what you're looking for, book this place.

Perfect location! Perfect accommodation!
Location is ideal – adjacent to one of the entrances of the St. James’s Park Underground – and a stone’s throw from St. James’s Park and Buckingham Palace. It was spotless, and so bright and cheery, couldn’t have suited me better, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The bedroom is a good size, with a very comfortable king sized bed, and plenty of closet space. There is a multi-regional DVD player, and a nice TV with a wide assortment of channels. The bathroom is large, with lots of light, and plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The kitchen was well appointed with newer appliances, and well stocked with cookware, glassware, cutlery and dishes. There are loads of guide books, and maps, and there are even umbrellas available. The neighborhood is very quiet at night, feels very safe, especially for a female traveling alone, and there’s a wonderful convenience store located directly below, with anything one could possibly need, including milk, soft drinks and alcohol, snacks, food items, and toiletries. They even sell postcards, souvenirs, and postage stamps! (although, there is a post office around the corner). Across the road you'll find a nice pub, and several other pubs, sandwich shops, cafes, and nice restaurants all within very short walking distance, and a Jamie Oliver restaurant on the high street. Within a short walking distance are numerous tourist sites including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye – just to name a few. And, you couldn’t ask for better public transportation. Great shopping on the high street with department stores, clothing shops, and a well known chocolate shop. The owner was very accommodating and showed such kindness. I look forward to staying in this perfect flat again during my next visit to London, and highly recommend it.

"Our Buckingham Home in the heart of Westminster"
My daughter, friend and I visited Albany Court for a "bucket list" holiday. Our accommodation was the perfect fit for us. After a long day of site seeing, we were so happy to come home to comfy beds and a kitchen where we could prepare tea with our scones. Wow and what a location!!!!!! Who can say they live a few minutes from BP or Westminster Abbey with a tube 15 steps away? Our trip was so fantastic....we are still talking about all of the London sites and parks that we could walk to in minutes from our wonderful flat. Anita is awesome and so very kind and helpful. WE love the Brits!!! We love the UK and all its pomp and traditions. Church service on our final morning at Westminster Abbey....what a way to end a beautiful, memorable holiday. Thank you Anita for sharing your flat where we ate, slept, relaxed and then found time to fall in love with your beautiful country and wonderful people. We hope to come again to spend time with our friends and neighbors across the ocean.

The Perfect "Home Away From Home"!
I had an enjoyable stay in this great flat. Although a one bedroom, it was very spacious and comfortable, and well maintained. The Building is quiet and clean, and has a (small) lift. The King Size bed was comfy and there is plenty of closet space (unlike previous flats in which I've stayed). There is an 'off the wall' bed in the living room also. It's a corner unit, so lots of light, and a nice cross breeze as well with windows in each room. The kitchen has everything you'll need including glassware, flatware, pots and pans, electric tea kettle, etc. The bathroom is large, and has plenty of hot water and amazing water pressure. The building is adjacent to the St. James's Park Underground. It was very convenient for the journey from Heathrow. Victoria Street is close by, so many buses available if you prefer not to use the Underground. Victoria Station is one tube stop away, a few minutes by bus, or a short walk. There are several pubs within a 2-3 minute walk, and a pub directly across the road as well as a Starbucks. And, loads of nice restaurants nearby, and shops to pick up freshly made sandwiches, coffee, and other prepared snacks. Directly below the building there is a nice convenience store for newspapers, snacks, beverages (even wine and beer) and other incidentals including post cards. There is a post office close by where you can purchase stamps and mail post cards. The flat is located within walking distance to many of the popular London attractions including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and Westminster Cathedral, Big Ben, London Eye, Cabinet War Rooms, Parliament and St. James's Park where you can feed the ducks. The owner is very nice and such a pleasure deal with. I highly recommend this flat for a London stay -- and will certainly stay here again.

Perfect location
Spent at week in London last May but forgot to review the flat. Excellent location, minutes from Buckingham Palace and St. James' Park, tube station below the flat so very convenient to all of London and to Heathrow. Comments: 1. securing the rental was very easy and straightforward. Ana very easy to work with and responsive. Getting the keys beforehand was convenient, but mailing them back once we got home was expensive. Still, worked out well. One reviewer described the apt block as "industrial", which is a fair assessment; not alot of charm, but again the location made it all well worth it. The flat is no frills, but we spent almost all of our waking hours exploring London. Neighborhood seemed safe; their is a small food store below the flat, and a Starbuck's across the street. 2. Photos were accurate. 3. Property clean and no worries, everything worked well. Wifi was sometimes iffy, but most of the time worked well. 4. Again, Ana was very helpful and responsive. We didn't encounter any problems while there so had no need to call her. 5. Yes, would definitely recommend the apartment. I can't imagine a more ideal location to have as my "headquarters" for exploring London by foot or tube. Nearby activities - all of London is nearby. Trafalgar Square, Picadilly, museums, Buckingham Palace, St. James' Park all within short or relatively short (and entertaining) walks, or even shorter tube hops. The British Museum could be a vacation destination in of itself. Must see a play at the Queen's Theater, must go to Harrod's, must go to the original Hard Rock Cafe, must take in a local pub (or two or three). Make sure and take one of the open air bus tours early during your stay, which will orient you to the main attractions. Buy Rick Steeve's book and start exploring. Have fun!

A Londoner born and raised in South London who moved to Central London in 1991, where I still live. I love hosting as I get pleasure from sharing my city with others.

Why they chose this property

I used to travel up to Central London as a child with my mum and her best friend to feed the ducks at St James's Park and loved the area from knee-high. This apartment is so centrally located to all the touristy sites and is prestigious with top security yet quiet. We bought this apartment over 20 years ago.

What makes this property unique

Imagine beating the queues by going to Westminster Abbey within 5 minutes' stroll from your Central London apartment, then returning home to relaunch, then walking in another direction to find yourself in front of Buckingham Palace within another 5 minutes - this will be your life at this apartment.

The apartment has many finishing touches such as a Miele washing machine and Miele tumble dryer, Siemens full-size dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine (even though you are opposite Starbucks). Matki shower enclosure, quartz kitchen worktops, black out blinds in each room, ceiling fans, and other features.
