Charlie’s 2nd Birthday

We loved the home and especially the pool. The remote to the TV was a little picky at times but we didn’t have time to watch much TV. It was our first experience and it won’t be our last. We will look to stay at this home again when coming out this way to see my son and his family. 💜

Booked again for next year!

We really liked the house. It has character! We were there during the "spring shed" so we fought a lot of falling stuff which was to be expected. We used the hot tub daily. Guide book is easy to read and user friendly. House has all you need for a visit. Kitchen is also user friendly. See ya next year!

Lovely older home, quaint neighborhood. Old passenger train runs behind home; adds ambience.

Quaint neighborhood and town. Busy downtown but not as touristy as coastal towns. Beautiful lakes. Nice golf available. Beautiful pool/hot tub. Heavy foliage (we were there during Spring shed). Owners were very accommodating to keep pool clear and functional.

Not one to repeat

I'll try to start with the positive, the pictures are accurate but more information would have made the decision to stay here entirely different. We arrived late so it was already dark outside, walking up to the back door with belongings, we walked past a bug bomb can on the ground, then passed a wet towel hanging next to the pool. Walked on into the house which is very nicely decorated, however when we went to put up our clothes we found clothes already in the closet, then opened the drawers in the bath to place our toiletries and found a used deodorant stick, hair brush covered with hair and a used towel on the back of the door. These were all things we have never in past 8 years of using homeaway ever come across. Later we thought we would check out the pool so we turned on the pool light to find large patches of leaves and debris on the bottom, sadly it wasn't useable to us. Finally we began to look for a place to let our pets do "their business" and found that only the front yard gets cut the rest is left "natural" which in Florida is kinda well you probably know. Finally we headed off for some sleep or attempted to, after a few hours we realized the house is located between two highly trafficked roads. So in the morning we decided to contact the owners with our questions and concerns, they were quick to respond but unfortunately they were not able to assist. We asked if they could get the pool cleaned and the grass cut since there were no tools for me to do this myself, they let us know the schedule of the cleaners "they were both planned to arrive 4-5 days into our 7 day stay . We also discovered the used toiletries, towels and clothes belong to the owners since this is their primary residence. Ok so at this point we cannot use the pool, our pets are trying to crap in foot tall weeds and were sharing closet space with someone else's stuff, but we are still trying to make the best of it. Then rain came and the rear doors became swollen shut leaving us the front door only as a way to enter or exit, did I mention the busy road? So after this we decided to find another location and leave this rental for another place to stay. Best decision we made that week, we did email the owners again, but they never responded probably didn't want to bother with us, since it would spoil their vacation bought with this rental.

About the host

Hosted by Ken and Lea

Host profile image
My wife and I are tech business owners and empty nesters. We have the luxury of traveling often with our laptops so we can work.

We are avid short-term rental hosts and guests/renters with our properties (US and Canada) available for short-term renting as well.

Why they chose this property

Historic and quaint Mt Dora is defined by our century old mossy oak trees and historic renovated homes. We are surrounded by lakes, rivers, spring heads, parks, national forests, and lots of golf courses.

We are well known for our festivals and untiques. We have one of the largest untique centers in North America nearby (Renningers). We have many old and historic towns nearby as well.

What makes this property unique

We are the most stunning rental property in Mt Dora. We have extended our uniquely restored inside to a relaxing outdoor lagoon.

Our living room spills out to an awesome outdoor lush tropical paradise that lights up at night. Float in the heated salt water pool/hot tub. Listen to the waterfalls or look up into a canopy of century old mossy oak trees.

Enjoy a large backyard covered BBQ patio, fire pit, or bocce ball game.

You won't find another Mt Dora home that compares.
