Stayed here for our annual Tail of the Dragon trip and not only was the property super convenient, but it also exceeded expectations for accessibility and overall commodity.
We will definitely save this location for next year and hope to be able to stay here again in the future!
This cabin is exactly as described, the location was perfect, close enough to essentials, far enough out for quiet and privacy, no a/c, but with the windows open this wasn't a problem. It is well furnished and very pleasant, I would highly recommend this cabin.
House was great! Very accommodating! We had a great time. And it’s only 30 mins to tail of the dragon! We brought motorcycles and there was plenty of covered parking!
Good option for basic accommodations in Robbinsville
We enjoyed our stay with our adult children + their partners and one grandchild. We were all in town for the wedding of another one of our sons and this property had plenty of space to sleep, cook, sit together, and play with the little one. Kitchen was well equipped. There's plenty of hiking, water, and georgous nature all around.
Things to keep in mind if you're considering this property.
If you have to fly in from TYS and drive you will have to drive on 129 (the Dragon). It is slow going and if you're prone to motionsickness, go ahead and take your meds before you get to it. The bikers are generally really great but some are a bit wiley so be very careful when driving.
While there are two bathrooms, and two showers - both showers are in the same large bathroom.
If you need to do makeup for an event like we did, the bathroom lighting is not ideal. So bring your makeup mirror.
The internet dropped often. If you depend on internet to be strong and up without dropping, this isn't your place.
There is a grocery store in town, and it was well stocked. If you enjoy healthy eating, you're going to want to cook. The other food options in town were majority fast food and for some reason so many foods in the region bizarrely have added sugar in them and ruin the taste (plus diabetics beware). Even the salsa at a mex place we tried, the ranch dressing we got with baby carrots at the store, and the pizza we got at Tapoco for rehersal dinner were sweetened! It was not good.
My children and I reserved this house so we could come up and visit my Son’s memorial site. The house was very nice. It was large, very clean and extremely quiet. The downstairs bathroom however was out of order. A bath and 1/2 was upstairs and was manageable for the four of us. One daughter and her husband said their bed was very uncomfortable and squeeked every time the turned over. The other two bedroom’s daybed and queen bed were comfortable. Rocking chairs on that very nice front porch would have been a definite plus. I am looking forward to staying here next year.
This perfect place for large groups during October to april or may ish. Very clean well kept and lots of space to relax and enjoy. Not feel to crowded.
This place is great it's got a lot of room to spread out we had 4 adults and 7 kids and we weren't crowded at all.something we learned to keep in mind, cell and Internet phone service in the mountains varies so keep that in mind but that was blessing in disguise we needed the break from devices it was something we needed that we didn't know we needed it was good for adults and kids so keep that in mind depending on the time of year and weather you might only get cell or Internet in town but the owner was on top of the issue for us and had a tech out ASAP but for us the extra time was used being exposed too nature and the mountains there's a lot of nature and forest around you the owner was great and took care of us very well I recommend this spot also robbinsville is a cool town with good natured folks and hospitality ...cell service didn't work on site but in town there was service and WiFi I would love for the opportunity to stay here again one day I definitely recommend this place it's good for the spirit
We loved our stay! The house had pretty much everything we needed, and it was very clean and welcoming. Great place for big families!
And only 25 minutes from the tail of the dragon!
Great property for our purpose. Only issue was no working internet, TV or phone service for the entire stay. Kind of a drag for 3 - 20 year old's when non of their tablets, cell phones, or Nintendo switches that they brought worked. I had also needed to work on my laptop, but could not. FYI T-Mobile does not work at this location either.
We will go back, just need assurance that the internet is working before we go.
The property was perfect for our family. It accommodated 8 adults and to children very well. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy our get away. Would recommend to anyone. I
This home was a great place to gather my New Years guests. Perfect for a large gathering. The house was spacious and private. Great skyline views for sunset and sun up.
Property was as advertised. It will technically sleep 12 but two of the beds are futons that are just slightly smaller than a double bed and tip easily. If all of our party had come as planned, it would have been difficult to sleep but since two didn’t come, all was well

My family has lived in the Gastonia area in the Piedmont of NC since 1971. I was born at the new Gaston Memorial Hospital in 1974. I attended Cramerton Christian Academy through the 6th grade, graduated from Hunter Huss HS in Gastonia in 1992. I married my wonderful wife in 2001. We now live in Gastonia NC with our 21-yr old daughter and 18-yr old son. We are members in regular attendance at Mount Beulah Baptist Church, Bessemer City. I hold a NC Electrical Contractors license and work in property management in Charlotte, NC.
Why they chose this property
Family owned since 1962, this is our grandfather's house. He purchased it unfinished and spent most of the rest of his life finishing and caring for this property. Our granddad, Richard, was one of the Great Generation, a veteran of WWII, earning the Purple Heart. His faith in God and his rugged determination to work and provide for his family in spite of his disabilities have been a shining example to me and my brother as to the kind of men we aspire to be. Due to high unemployment our parents moved to Piedmont NC in 1971, where my brother and I grew up. It was always the highlight of our summers to spend time in the mountains with our grandparents. Our granddad passed away in 2012. We convinced our dad to buy out his 3 sisters and retain the property in our family. We want to continue the family ownership for our children but we can only afford to keep the place if it helps pay for itself. Dad and Mom are nearing retirement and we have families to support. While we grew up in the Piedmont, my brother and I share the connection of deep family roots in Graham County, going back 5 generations. We have hunted all over the county with our dad and as boys spent time fishing the creeks and streams. My brother has spent time fishing with his son in Graham County, and I am looking forward to doing the same with my kids.
What makes this property unique
We chose this property because it belonged to our granddad. He and my dad shoveled out the basement by hand and wheelbarrow. The living room sports a 19' window which overlooks the little valley below. The best way I can describe the house is 'comfortable'. It just feels like home!
