Nice, quant, clean and well maintained cabin. Great overall place to stay with the family. There were however ants in the kitchen, dining area and bathroom, which I wasn't a particular fan of.
This place never disappoints our family. It’s small but doesn’t feel small with the lay out and high ceilings. This is our 2nd year coming here and as I said, it didn’t disappoint yet again!
We had a lovely stay at Engles Nest. The cabin is quaint and comfortable. Green Valley Lake is charming and the neighborhood/community is peaceful. We really enjoyed hiking in the mornings and evenings. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!
Loved this place so much! Very clean and comfortable environment. We had a lovely time and stay here. Lots of games to play and TV worked great! Will definitely be booking again!
Awesome little cabin! Beds were comfy. Excellent selection of DVD's and board games. Great hiking around the property and Green Valley Lake is really cute. You can rent a paddle or pedal boat and cruise around. Great for a family like ours with two kids and the dog.
A few were things missing which would have made it a little more comfortable for us (propane for bbq, firewood, shampoo/conditioner) but there's a little store close by.
We had a great time and would return.
This is a cozy cabin that’s perfect for a small family and is fully stocked with everything you’d need for a stay. Lots of games and movies to keep you entertained. Would recommend for a family looking for a weekend get away.
We loved our very snowy stay in Green Valley Lake, a cute neighborhood nestled in the mountains. The cabin is one block away from the national forest and also in a very walkable neighborhood. The cabin was the perfect size for our family of four. We particularly loved the expansive game and DVD library. Jodi was SO responsive--I am sure I drove her crazy--given the heavy snow fall and the ever-changing road conditions, she accommodated us to keep us safe and sound in the cabin.
I was not sure if we would be able to keep our booking due to weather conditions. However, the property owner kept me informed and provided transparency in expectations. Luckily we chose to head out into the adventure and it all worked out! We all enjoyed the cabin and brought in the new year!
We really enjoyed our time here. The cabin was super cute and easy to get to!
We did happen to stay on the hottest day over 90 and the cabin got super hot. We ended up packing up a bit early but we would love to stay here again!
We had a great time the place was clean and well equipped, the bank beds where just right for my little girl and my boy, they had so much fun in the snow
We were so pleasantly surprised with our stay at this cabin. It was just enough space and didn’t feel small at all. The room with the bunk beds were so amazing! The kids loved the look and original wood look of it. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice and updated with laundry. We arrived right when the March snow storm arrived on a Monday and it snowed real hard all day. The cabin had views of the snow falling everywhere you looked with the big, nice windows. The pros overweighted the cons which for us was only one really. That happened to be the front entrance walkway. Icy with snow walkwalk/ stairs leading up to the door. Not a deal breaker but maybe it could be updated later in the future to be a bit more safer. Overall, I would give this a 4 1/2 out of 5. I would definitely come back!
We had a lovely stay at their quaint cabin in the best location of Green Valley Lake. Our young boys loved playing in the snow and especially loved the handmade bunk beds in one of the rooms. Sledding hills were just steps away! The cabin's main room with a stone fireplace was my favorite. The kitchen had only very basic items but worked fine for us. The two bedrooms had plug in portable heaters only but both nights we didn't even use them. The wall heater in the main room was all we needed.
The positives were the cabin's location and rustic charm. Great wifi and plenty of games and movies to use. The negatives were the uncleared steps that made going in and out of the front doora challenging with all the ice and snow. We ended up shoveling and clearing it ourselves. Also the cabin could have used some rugs, every move we made we could hear because of the creaking of the wood floor. Remember to pack everything you need, including shampoo and soap. Unfortunately, the local store closes early and we missed having a few items our last night.
Overall we were very happy with our stay and will cherish the memories. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
It was the first exposure for my 8-year-old son and myself to Green Valley Lake, and we found it to be a jewel. He wants to come back for the snow, and I would too. Thank you, Jodi and Engels family! Hope to see you again.
(P.S. Could use a waste basket in bathroom.)

Dissappointing
Property was just OK at best. Getting in the door was a challenge, especially so for anyone with balance issues. Some deck boards were rotted and neither front or back entry had anything to hold on to climbing up the steps. Inside was strong creosote odor. Info book mentioned access to a row boat but hard to figure out how to get to it, if in fact it was docked at the lake. There was one in the driveway that we assumed was the boat referred to in the book. Best thing about the property for us was its proximity to our sister's cabin which was where we spent all our time anyways except for sleeping. Worst thing was that our cabin's owner was late in getting us the access code to enter the cabin. Bathroom excellent and beds very comfortable and cabin had a very good central heater but space heaters were useless.

Hi there! Been coming to GVL since I was a little girl and I love its charm, history and surroundings of the national forest! I am a realtor, school teacher and traveler! I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 boys! We love to hike, fish, snowboard, play games and enjoy each other by the fire with music! We hope you enjoy it too
Why they chose this property
The hiking trails right out the door. Just go out the cabin and turn right and there are trails for miles and miles with views of crab flats, lake arrowhead and even Big Bear. As 2N19 goes all the way to fawnskin. I love that the forest is always changing, always different every time I visit it!
What makes this property unique
Close to a great sled hill within walking distance! National Forest and hiking right at the end of the street! It’s my favorite part! I also love our neighbors so please be courteous!
