This two-bedroom, two-bathroom West Beach cottage was perfect for our needs. First off, it was clean when we arrived, which we both appreciated. And it was plenty large enough to accommodate my wife, our fifteen-month-old daughter, and me.
We enjoyed the updated kitchen and appliances--it made cooking meals very easy. We also enjoyed spending time on the screened-in porch overlooking the lagoon, especially when it was raining. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable (we didn't use the other bed), and the water pressure in the master shower was exceptional.
We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, plates, utensils, coffee maker, trash bags, dish soap, etc. That made everything a lot easier.
The cottage had beach stuff available for use, including two chairs (we didn't use them, but they were available). They also had some beach toys for kids, which was a nice touch.
Proximity to the beach. We were happy with the proximity of the cottage to the beach. A few of our friends said we should rent bikes to ride to the beach and around the island, but we ended up just walking to the beach with our daughter in her stroller. The walk took about 12 minutes (I could have done it faster by myself without the stroller).
Location of the cottage. We liked being in West Beach. We had not stayed in Kiawah Island before, so we weren't sure whether it would be better to stay in East or West Beach. But for us, West Beach worked out perfectly because it was closer to the Kiawah front gate and to Freshfields (grocery store, retail shops, outdoor market, etc.). Also, if you're playing golf, the cottage is steps from the recently renovated Cougar Point club house.
Parking at the cottage was super easy, as was accessing the cottage. The electronic keypad made things much easier than dealing with keys.
Finally, the TV in the living room is new, and the cable works well.
We would definitely stay here again!
