Beautiful Views and Peaceful Vibes
Wonderfully kept up fisherman’s lodge. Great fishing for our modest boat. The property as a whole is so interesting and vast. If you are looking to unplug and stay in a more rustic but well kept accommodations—this is perfect for a family. It’s also close to Detroit Lakes and Perham for shopping and restaurants.

Exceeded our Expectations
This property provided a reunion of HS friends & their spouses the perfect opportunity to enjoy each others company & catch up on life. The grounds are spectacular and very private & the house was large enough to accommodate 5 couples (and children, if need be) quite comfortably. A stunning estate kept pristinely in 1947 fashion, was a delight to stay at such a beautifully maintained historic home.

Beautiful classic lodge on pristine lake
Had a family reunion at this lovely home. 5 bedrooms meant everyone had a bed. The lovely interior spaces allowed our group to spread out and enjoy different focuses in differ areas. The weather didn’t allow much swimming but we enjoyed the little beach with pretty pebblesand the water clear and nice.

Great place for a family get away
This was our families 2nd year returning to the lodge. It’s the perfect space for a larger family with beautiful grounds, unique character and situated on a quaint lake. The lodge is picturesque and has lots of space inside and out. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful retreat
Our family of 11 had vacationed for a number of years at a family resort. The resort closed and we were left without a vacation site for this summer. As it turned out, we ended up with this absolutely fabulous rental on a beautiful property and lake. It was easy to communicate with the owner and she was very responsive. Our grandkids love to fish and had the best ever fishing (their words). There was plenty of bright, clean space in the house for all of us to gather together and if someone wanted time alone that space was available as well. We booked for 2023 before we left.

Amazing northern MN lodge!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Aerie Lodge. It was the perfect up north get away! Beautiful views, spacious lodge, relaxing atmosphere, gorgeous grounds, and pristine lake made for the perfect vacation. Laurel was such a gracious host, very helpful as we planned this trip and prompt at answering any questions. Gene, the caretaker, was a gem, and takes wonderful care of the beautiful property. We spent four nights at the Aerie with eight adults and two kids over the Fourth of July, and it was a great space for a multigenerational getaway (grandparents, siblings, and kids). Perfect to spread out but also plenty of room for us all to be together to celebrate a special sixtieth birthday and Independence Day. We loved swimming off the dock and the water was clean and shallow for the kids to swim. The kitchen was great for cooking group meals, with a big long table where we could all eat together. The lodge itself is built of beautiful wood, with amazing views of the lake, and the grounds are amazing! So expansive with hiking trails and lots of space to run and play games. Overall an amazing property, where you and your loved ones can create lifelong memories. We can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful home and great piece of lake front property. Very cool old cabin. Amazing sunsets over the lake to enjoy on the deck. Plenty of room for a big family! Nice sand beach and good size dock. Huge yard for all the kids to run around. I would definitely return and recommend this property.

Great family Labor Day Getaway
Our family of six plus an infant stayed at the cabin over Labor Day Weekend. The place was fantastic and we couldn't have been happier. The location, property and interior were perfect and exactly what we were looking for. The land the property sits on is breathtaking and looks like a movie set. We were able to visit with the caretaker of the property and the owner, and both were helpful. You won't be disappointed with this listing. We hope to return next summer.

Beautiful lodge on a quaint lake
A spacious, beautiful and charming lake lodge. The space made for a perfect family get away with lots of space to relax, dine, swim, and for the kids to run around. We visited in august and with ample windows and fans the lack of air conditioning was a non-issue. Would definitely book with them again.

Relaxing and beautiful lakeside retreat
Everything couldn’t have gone smoother - very easy to communicate with owner snd found the place to be extremely clean and comfortable. We rented a boat from nearby shop snd all the fisherman caught so many fish. We also saw eagles, otters and loons. Caretaker Gene was so friendly and took my dad (we celebrated his 80th birthday on this trip) on a golf cart tour of the facility. The grounds are amazing and the house was really unique. I would highly recommend renting or bringing a boat if you have people in your group who like to fish and you can also fish off of the shore. Sitting out each morning was so peaceful snd the sunsets were beautiful. Can’t say enough nice things about our experience!

Family get together
Laurel was very prompt getting back to me with any questions we had. The lodge and grounds were beautiful. The upstairs lift rooms were a little hot this time of year but rest of house was great with fans and breezes. We were close to hiking, biking and of course swimming in the lake which was a big hit with grandkids. Loved it!

Excellent Get-Away Location
We all had a wonderful time. The lodge accommodations were perfect for our family get together. The lodge provided the perfect setting for our family to spread out if needed or stay together in one room. We enjoyed the sun porch area for our breakfast and the back patio area for savoring the lake view. Laurel was a very accommodating host and had excellent instructions and follow through.

An amazing gem
We LOVED our stay. I don’t give rave reviews on VRBOs often because, frankly, I’m pretty picky. I’m so, so happy we ended up in this beautiful location over Memorial Day this year. The listing is very accurate, except it can’t do justice to how stunning this property is. The grounds are very well cared for and my kids loved playing and exploring everywhere. We have young kids so having a shallow beach that wasn’t right next to the house (which is set back a bit) was key for our kids safety. The lake is really quiet and the property has a ton of shoreline. The house is tastefully kept up and very comfortable. The lofts would be perfect for teens or adults - not safe for kids because of the steep steps and fire doors that open right into the main room. But we fit very well in the 3 large main floor bedrooms. The kitchen has all updated appliances and kitchenware. The views are stunning. Laurel, the owner, is very available and answered all questions promptly. We got to meet Gene, the grounds keeper, who is lovely and has been caring for the property for a long time. We will definitely be back. This is a beautiful, quiet get-away spot and works well for families (we went with 2 young families and a set of grandparents). Lovely spot!

An Authentic Minnesota Treasure
The Aerie is simply amazing! Our three generational family (grandparents, parents, teens, and children) has been renting lake homes for our annual vacation for the past 20 years. This was our first time renting the Aerie and it is by far the best property we have rented. The deep history of the property, the serenity, and the quality family time are just a couple of the benefits. The layout of the lodge was perfect for multi-generational traveling. The large center living space provided a comfortable space for all 10 of us to play games, eat meals, and socialize. The expansive outdoor space provided plenty of room for outdoor yard games, running with the kids, spending time at the lake, and relaxing while watching the sunset. Our boys were able to fish off the dock and shore line, catching a variety of fish that kept them busy for hours. Despite our travel date in late August, the clarity of the lake water was exceptional. The sandy beach area provided a nice space for swimming and water sports. The property owner and caretaker were easy to contact and ensured our every need was met. This property is authentic to its building date in 1947 and has been well preserved over the years. Our boys (ages 17, 15, 13, 10, and 7) were so occupied with exploring the grounds, enjoying water sports, and outdoor activities that they didn't use their electronics during our 4-day stay (which was our goal). This is the perfect property to rent so you can "get off the grid" and have some quality time with family or friends. I wish I could rate it higher than 5-stars!!!!!

Beautiful Estate
The property was spectacular. The pictures do not do it justice. There are over 10 acres of perfectly manicured grass. The lake is pristine and very quiet. The lodge was very clean and well equipped. The caretaker, Gene, was very friendly! The listing says that there is no air conditioning which is fine all throughout the cabin, except for the 2 loft spaces which are extremely hot. If you need 5 full bedrooms I would be wary, as my kids ended up sleeping on couches in the main Floor to escape the heat. Just a few things that would make this rental even better: We were disappointed that we were not able to use the fireplace. It is the central focal point of the cabin, and while the listing told us we would not have an indoor fire pit, we were not expecting not to be able to use the beautiful indoor one. While the cabin was well stocked with kitchenware, toilet paper, etc..there were no staples provided. Most VRBO’s have had spices/cooking oils/ coffee/etc. come prepared with absolutely everything you may need to cook with! This is not required but something I’ve always had at other rentals. There is no grill on site, and we had to bring our own. Also there are zero lake toys/canoes/paddle boards anything at all for water play, so come prepared with whatever you like! Otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay and beyond gorgeous property!

Great get away for a family
We were looking for a place to stay with our children and 4 grand boys. Because of the Covid virus ,we wanted a more secluded place. This was perfect. The home feels like a Northwoods cabin. We brought blow up water toys for the grands so they spent hours in the water.. The lake is Very quiet and serene. And —-sunsets were amazing. We had a boat ride with a friend of the owner. It was at twlight . We saw the sun set and the full moon rise over the house. The accommodations were fantastic. Winnie

Our family has had a relationship with this property ever since my parents came here as young people in love, before the lodge was even built. We have tried to preserve the 1940's integrity of the lodge and boathouse and the gatekeepers house.

Why they chose this property

If you dream of enjoying the serenity and privacy of a country estate, the charm of a 1940's lodge, sunsets more beautiful an Maui, you will find yourself in the tranquil grounds, woods, and shoreline at the Aerie Lodge. The architecture is Prairie School, the interiors have been kept authentic and the grounds provide a good daily walk.

For business retreats, the setting is ideal for team building and lucid discussion.

For weddings and celebrations, few places offer the natural elegance and beauty.

Some families make a stay at the Aerie a yearly tradition. Make it yours! There is a refundable property fee that will be charged. But will be refunded if visitors stays does not create the need for excessive cleaning.

What makes this property unique

Beauty, tranquility, privacy, secluded, gated, half mile of lakeshore with sandy beach, close to shopping, medical facility and outdoor recreation facilities.
