We were a group of 7 people (3 adults, 4 children aged 11-14). The home was clean and user friendly. There are 5 bedrooms, 3 with queens, 1full, 1 room with 2 singles. The two bathrooms are small, as you would expect for plumbing tucked into a 1790 house, but adequate. We found the small kitchen to be mostly well stocked- it could use a small saucepan and/or kettle. There are several houses/cabins on the property- we had the whole place to ourselves and enjoyed walking to the shore, visiting the red barn, and the kids enjoyed roaming all over. Rossport would be an ideal location for a family reunion or group of friends to get together.
Unique house and property perfect for our family reunion
This is an unique-rustic-restored old farmhouse on a beautiful property overlooking the Cobscook Bay waterfront. The house was open for our arrival. (There is no check-in here.) The house is clean and tidy with plenty of room for the 6 of us. The kitchen is well-stocked with stove/oven, coffee maker, toaster, microwave oven & refrigerator/freezer, cookware, silverware, bakeware and paper goods. The bathrooms were well-stocked with towels and toilet paper. The bedrooms were neat and clean. There is a lack of electrical outlets in this historic house so bring extension cords for some of the bedrooms. The space heaters kept us warm on a chilly weekend. We enjoyed looking at the antiques throughout the house and the property. WiFi, laundry facilities and a pool table are located in the red barn on the property. We had good AT&T and Verizon cell phone coverage at the house. We enjoyed meeting Ross, our host, and visiting with him - a wonderful gentleman! It’s quiet and peaceful at Rossport and we enjoyed our family visit here very much.
On short notice, we booked the Jacob Lincoln Farmhouse for our family of 4. What a stroke of luck to find this place. We spent 4 days exploring Eastport by bike and by foot. The area is breathtakingly beautiful and there is plenty to do if you love the outdoors. We especially enjoyed joining the a crowd of locals and tourists at the wharf for mackerel fishing, where there was a communal atmosphere and plenty of action on the lines. Additionally we found quiet trails and outstanding views on the Bold Coast trail in Cutler, Reversing Falls in Pembroke, and Shackford Head in Eastport. Biking the Bold Coast Scenic Bikeway was equally rewarding.
Rossport itself is gorgeous and the views are ever-changing with the tides and the weather. We had some rain while we were there and so a family trip to the Red Barn to shoot pool kept us entertained The Farmhouse had a rustic simplicity and plenty of local artifacts and antiques. The porch was a great place to read a book and the no TV/no WIFI kept our kids unplugged and more engaged in family time.
Finally we really appreciated the opportunity to meet Ross who showed us great warmth and had some wonderful stories to tell. We hope to make it back to Rossport in the near future!
