About this property

Experience true Door County charm in this recently renovated, inviting home owned by one of Ephraim’s founding families. The Thorp family history dates back to the 1850s with the founding of the Village by Reverend Iverson. Family owned for over 60 years, BD, the owner, grew up in this lovingly cared for home. The immaculate interior has a master bedroom with king bed, nautical themed bedroom with queen bed, and country-cottage ambiance in the third bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom boasts a new large walk-in shower with safety rail. Newly updated kitchen comes fully equipped and the home also has a laundry room with washer and dryer. Central air will make your stay more comfortable on those hottest summer days. Large landscaped yard with mature trees, picnic table, Adirondack chairs and hammock.

This is our second year staying at this house and was just as wonderful as last time. We played outside in the huge yard everyday and I snuck in a nap in the hammock. Comfortable and perfect!

This house was absolutely perfect for us. It was a girls weekend and the 3 of us loved it. Everything was clean and comfortable. That is incredibly important to me because I have allergies to dust and pets. Other houses we’ve been to, allowed pets and didn’t clean well. And that ruined my weekend with the itchy eyes and throat. This place I had no issues. Everything was so clean and fresh smelling. We had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen is nicely stocked with everything you’ll need. There was a supply of all the products(tp, napkins, soap etc) and we added what we brought to it. The pie was such a sweet and caring touch that we all appreciated. The location is perfect. It’s in the middle to everything we wanted to see and visit. The only thing we did miss was a fire pit because we like to do one night outside to do s’mores :) but we barely missed it. Would definitely love to come here again. Thank you Bob and Jodie for letting us use your home.

Wonderful

Our stay here was perfect! The yard was great for our son to run around. Very close to downtown Ephraim. The owner came right away when the water heater went out and made sure to get it fixed in a timely manner. Definitely a great place to end our vacation!

One of the best vacations ever

Besides we fell in love with Door county a special experience was the house we rented for three of us. Extremely clean, well equipped so you don't need to worry about anything that you might need during your stay. To make it long story short we felt just like home. Looking forward to coming back to the Thorp house!

Comfortable and private

This home is exceptionally clean, comfortable and surrounded by a beautiful forest. We enjoyed a visit from a couple of deers on our first day. It’s located very close to Ephraim main town and provides easy access to everything that Door County offers. This was our second stay in the Thorp home and would certainly book it in the future.

Clean and comfortable

Clean, updated cottage with plenty of room on large wooded lot. Little or no traffic noise, just a few deer cutting across the lawn.

Clean, roomy, and convenient to all Door County towns

This is a really nice home that is set on a large lot that is surrounded by trees. It's a country setting with few homes nearby. Very safe. Things I'd improve: The wood oil (I think) has a weird smell that needs to be aired out before guests arrive. I'm sensitive to smells but even my husband said it wasn't pleasant. Once the furnace started blowing most of the smell went away. Maybe switch to a different oil? Please add a hair dryer. Door County was the last stop on our two week journey and we didn't pack a hairdryer for the trip because that is a staple among the places we stay. A dishwasher would be great. I don't want to wash dishes while I'm on vacation. We had to get up an hour earlier than normal to have enough time to shower and run the towels through the washer. This is very inconvenient. Although I made these suggestions, I gave the home 5 stars because it is very welcoming and clean. Thank you!

Comfy, clean and beautiful

First vacation house I can call home. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and a cherry pie! Grill ready to go with charcoal. Bath nicely stacket as well. Very beautiful decor. Awesome yard and hammock. Close to everything in small town. It could use a fire pit though.

Perfect Door County Getaway

Charming, well cared- for home with great yard in terrific location. Thorp House had everything we needed for a great vavation - wonderful outdoor space (w picnic table and hammock), beautiful property. The home itself was immaculate, with comfortable beds and new bathroom and laundry facilities and newer kitchen, as well asa large living room with plenty of seating and great WiFi. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the owner’s thoughtful touches.

Lovely Home!

The BD Thorp House was perfect for our week in Door County. The house is immaculate and was well stocked with everything you would need. The location is in a quiet neighborhood just a short drive from downtown Ephraim. It was quiet, cozy and the perfect getaway for our family. The cherry pie was a "sweet" touch. We would definitely stay here again next time we come to Door County!

Wonderful!

My sisters and I loved this place. It was clean it has everything you would need. Nice quality appliances, towels and sheets. I got to meet the owner, he was very nice, and he left us a cherry pie as a welcome gift! What a wonderful surprise when you walk in, and it was still warm. The layout was great, people can stay up in the living room while others sleep and you do not disturb them. Thank you for sharing the home with us, we had a great time!
