About this property

Ginger Lily is a 2 bed-roomed open plan apartment situated under the main villa with a balcony across the back overlooking the gardens. The price is low from June to Dec 2024 as there are some local builders working on the site behind us although there is minimal disruption to guests and they are working for us so we can have influence on what they are doing....!
When with us you don’t have to go it alone as our on-site house manager, Kim is happy to arrange tours, book restaurant reservations or cook an authentic local meal for you upon request. We take your experience personally and want it to be the most fun and memorable vacation ever. We can even stock your food pantry in advance of your stay, just send us a list! Need more space? We have three units on property available for rent. Send us a message!

This apartment is accessed down steps to the side of the house. It benefits from: air conditioned bedrooms, screened windows, free high speed wi-fi, cable TV, secure on-site parking and location within walking distance to all bay side amenities is what makes Villa Papillon unique.

Feel at home while cooking in the fully equipped kitchen featuring coffee maker, microwave, toaster, oven, full size refrigerator, utensils and linens. Guests who prefer to do their own laundry have access to our washer and dryer facility.

Situated in the same scenic area as the Marigot Bay Resort & Spa. Walk to a secluded cove, snorkel at the beach or visit the nearby Rum Cave!

Relax at the Ginger Lily 2 bedroom apartment with private veranda overlooking tropical gardens of lime, coconut, mango and breadfruit trees.

Make use of the Weber gas grill while enjoying scenic views from the shared upper deck gazebo and pool area. This is a shared area with the other apartments if occupied.

The Marina Village, a small grocery, bank with ATM, multiple restaurants, local land and water taxi station are all within a few minutes walk from Villa Papillon.

We do not accept children due to the risk of falls from height on site by the infinity pool.

Great vacation

This beautiful property is awesomely located a couple of hundred meters from the bay, and a short ferry ride takes you to a beautiful beach. The house has multiple apartments with a shared area in the main floor - the particular apartment where we stayed was spacious and comfortable, but lacked windows in the two sleeping rooms making the fan/AC indispensable for some air circulation if wanting to sleep with closed door. Kim, the property manager, is awesome, helpful and very responsive - certainly a huge asset for the property!

Awesome property

This home was beautiful, the photos are very accurate, but don’t show the beauty surrounding the property, the gardens, the lush, green, and the ability to listen to the birds. Stephen was prompt in response to questions, but the highlight of the trip was Kim and her Attention to us and our requests. She set us up for an awesome day of snorkeling, gave us ideas for restaurants, and each day checked in to see if we needed ideas or assistance with anything. She was just phenomenal and cooked us an incredible island meal. The roads are crazy, so if you rent a car be aware. The best place for lunch to enjoy the view of Gross Pitons was mango tree restaurant, highly recommend! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was a winner! Thank you Stephen and Kim!!!

Good choice

Close to the marina. Clean and well kept. Having a manager there full time was helpful and she cooked us a delicious meal ! The pool didn’t get a morning sun so we didn’t use it but the patio was chill and comfortable.

Lovely setting and for the adventurous

We are so very grateful for Kim, the property manager!!! She was available everyday to give us advice on things to do. She does the laundry for a fee. Please reach out to her, esp considering hiring drivers as opposed to car rental. Stephen, the new owner, was very easy to work with. The Villa Papillon is off the beaten path & the roads are full of potholes &hairpin turns—I failed to notice that driving is on the left, which can present a challenge for those from the USA. The plus side is that we experienced St Lucia’s charm apart from the larger cities and resorts. The small town of Marigot Bay is picturesque. There are a couple of restaurants in the area. Dining out is quite expensive. The Villa, on the side of a hill overlooking Marigot Bay,is picturesque & gated. The pool, gazebo and bbq area on the upper level are lovely. We found the locals to be most friendly & helpful, especially when we became lost during our explorations. The beds in the Ginger Lily apt are very comfortable and the air conditioning in each bedroom was all we needed. Our veranda was a haven for early morning coffee, reading & just enjoying the flora & fauna. We had daily visits from birds & saw mongoose— fortunately no snakes! There were ample glassware, plates, dining utensils & food storage containers, including plastic ware for poolside. The apt needs some refreshing & replacing of small appliances & cooking equipment basics. Bring your own herbs and spices. Unfortunately, my wife came down with bronchitis for 4 days & we were pretty confined to the Ginger Lily, making our own meals, which we enjoy. There was a nice supply of teas which were most appreciated, but only salt, pepper & sugar. Kim was instrumental in arranging for a doc to come in person, as well as the wonderful Verna to give us each a massage en-suite. There are numerous steps down to the apt. This wasn’t a problem for us but should be noted. One of the major reasons we selected Villa Papillon was that proceeds from the rent was goes to support a charity for local children! For the daily fee, we would have been happier with the Villa on the upper level as it was updated and more spacious. We had the best time with Edmund Tours once my wife was better, going to all the area high points, including snorkeling and mud baths. We recommend the Villa P if you are adventurous.

Exactly as Expected

We were very happy to find that the villa looked exactly like the pictures and was very clean and inviting! The plunge pool and gazebo were perfect all week! The bedrooms were excellent for sleeping: air-conditioned, dark and quiet. The breezes and fans were great during the day. The private balcony overlooking the canopy of palms and other trees was a beautiful place for morning coffee. Kim, the house manager, is exactly what you would expect from the older reviews (before covid shutdowns). She was available to help us with all kinds of needs, and was quick to troubleshoot any issue we had. She had groceries waiting for us when we arrived, made us a delicious meal during our week, and arranged transportation for us. We really enjoyed the more secluded rocky bottom beach that was a 10-15 minute walk north of the villa, instead of the very touristy, sandy but small Marigot Bay beach. Chateau Mygo was our go-to for local meals, if we didn’t feel like cooking for ourselves. The Villa Restaurant further up the hill also delivers pizza between 5-9pm, or you can head there for breakfast or dinner. There are a handful of other restaurant options in Marigot Bay as well. We travelled with another couple and the “Ginger Lily” 2 bedrooom apartment was a great size for the 4 of us! There are 3 units in the Villa Papillion, and we really enjoyed chatting with the other guests at the shared patio, plunge pool and gazebo, and never found it to be too busy or crowded. (There were never more than 9 guests in total, including the 4 of us, when it was full.) Would definitely stay here again, if we ever return to Marigot Bay! Thanks for a great week, Kim!

This is the place to stay! A slight walk to restaurants.

Kim our liaison was the absolute best! She helped us arrange a private driver for airport pickup/ drop off, he drove us across town to dinner took us to party and made sure we made it back safely. Shout out to Louics! The property was beautiful and very private.

Beautiful and quiet

My family of 4 stayed here over the Christmas holiday. Lisa was excellent, promptly answering all of our questions prior to arrival. Kim the property manager was very attentive and took care of us during our stay, made restaurant suggestions and even booked a private in-room massage for us. We are so happy we stayed in Marigot Bay, it was quiet and secluded and never crowded even in their busiest season. The property is very well maintained and clean, exactly as the photographs show. We appreciated the safety of the gated entrance which included a spot to park our rental car. The kitchen is stocked with enough basic items to fix a meal and the beds were reasonably comfortable. The air conditioning was nice for sleeping at night but we turned it off and enjoyed the breeze during the day. Thanks to the previous vacationers who left comments in the diary with recommendations on where to eat and which beaches they preferred. As others mentioned there is a short steep incline to walk down to the Marina, we had no issues walking it in flip flops. Bring sturdy shoes to hike to the more secluded beach 20 minutes away.

Loved this place!

The apartment is comfy and well-equipped. We spent happy hours on the balcony (too warm in the afternoon but great in the morning) trying to capture on camera the humming birds visiting the opulent flowers of the garden below us. We were well looked after by Kim and William. We had already had ten days in a hotel in Rodney Bay but this was a great location for exploring inland (Millett Bird sanctuary, for example) and further south round Soufriere and beyond. We had one day relaxing on the terrace followed by barbecue supper; otherwise we explored.

A very special place

We had a wonderful week at Ginger Lily, Villa Papillon. The apartment has everything you could want and is beautifully kept. Kim made us feel very welcome and able to answer any questions we had. The view from the villa is extraordinary and I think we spent many hours just staring at the lush vegetation and watching humming birds. We also loved bouncing back and forth across the bay on the ferries and even after a week we began to feel part of the friendly community there. Great sunsets too and I am sure we will be back.

Dream vacation

Beautiful and well equipped apartment very close to the bay which is important if you do not rent a car as the area is very steep. The patio area is a great place to relax overlooking the jungle-like garden. Kim, the manager, is very friendly and helpful in arranging day trips and grocery shopping. We spend a wonderful two weeks there and hope to be able to return soon!

Fantastic !

We had the best experience whilst staying at Ginger Lilly apartment in Marigot Bay. Kim, who manages the villa, was great and looked after us very well. The accommodation was perfect for the two of us and would have been just as good if there were 2 couples staying in the apartment. We love to cook and found the kitchen was very well equipped. Gorgeous views, beautiful property, amazing hosts!!!

I am so thankful that I found Villa Papillon while searching for vacation rentals in Marigot Bay for a wedding I attended at the Capella Resort and Marina. Capella is only a 2-3 minute walk from the Villa and I am so glad that I stayed at Lisa and Larry's place instead of the resort. It was wonderful to be able to wake up in the morning and have my coffee on a private balcony overlooking the lush, tropical paradise of Saint Lucia. Although it was nice to head over to the Marina Village to visit the shops, cafes and restaurants around the bay or go hang out at the pool at the Capella with the swim up bar, there were days I preferred to just relax on the terrace at Villa Papillon, where I could use the grill, take a refreshing dip in the plunge pool, and watch the boats come in and out of Marigot Bay. Lisa and Larry were amazing hosts because they were always available to answer any questions or concerns I had and they were more than accommodating of all my needs. The maintenance manager, William, was available to address any issues and make sure that the pool was cleaned, the security gates were functioning, and do anything else that needed to be done on the property. The property manager, Kim, was also available to help with anything and everything, from house keeping to recommendations, and even took me on a site seeing tour of some of the island. I highly recommend Villa Papillon and the best part about the property is that the proceeds from the vacation rentals go to helping the underprivileged children of Marigot and fixing up the local school to ensure it is a safe and secure environment for the local children to learn and grow. Thank you so much Lisa and Larry! I can't wait to go back to Saint Lucia and to anyone thinking about visiting Marigot Bay, Villa Papillon is perfect for a romantic getaway and/or a relaxing vacation in paradise! :)

Intimate stay in paradise

Thank you Cyrus and Lisa! Villa papillion is an unparalleled way to experience the island. The peaceful intimacy of this place is complimented with thoughtful amenities and a relaxed ambience. The pride that Saint Lucians have for their home and their willingness to share it with foreigners is authentic and refreshing. Cyrus was an excellent ambassador of his homeland. A great stay in magnificent surroundings

We had an incredible 5 day stay here on the beautiful island of St. Lucia. We felt right at home in "our" Ginger Lily Suite in the Villa Papillon - it is very well equipped to make life comfortable and the views and surroundings in beautiful Marigot Bay are magnificent. Lisa had provided all the details to us in an email a few days before we arrived and Kim welcomed us and showed us around the apartment when we arrived even though it was already 21:30 (Thank you Kim!). There was also a folder in the appartment with tips for things to do - that was very helpful especially since we were there in the off-season. A small convenience store, the docks of the bay and some restaurants are in very short walking distance (5 mins at most) from the Villa. We were at Doolitle's (at the other side of the Bay) and Julieatta's (on the top of the hill when entering the Bay) and enjoyed the food. As we had a rental car we did some driving around the island ourselves - to the Pitons, the Touraille Waterfall, the Sulphur Springs and Soufriere and Rodney Bay. Marigot Bay turned out to be a good starting point for these excursions as it is well located almost in the middle of St. Lucia's west coast - within an hours drive you can get to almost anywhere on the island from there. One of the highlights was a one-day watertaxi trip to Soufriere and Anse Chastenet with one of the local captains - we found that well worth doing with great snorkeling at the Anse. We are so glad that we chose this place for our days in St. Lucia - we had a wonderful time here.

Relaxing and peaceful

An easy walk into town, Villa Papillon is a nicely appointed and clean accommodation complete with beach chairs, towels, snorkel gear, beach bags, bath robes, hair dryer etc. the street side of the villa is gated and locked, the veranda at the back of the property overlooks lush vegetation. Bedrooms are air conditioned and quiet with comfortable beds. We did not rent a car for the first week of our stay. Marigot Bay is a lovely little village with some good restaurants and bars, live music, a small grocery store and bank and a sweet little beach across the bay, accessible by a ferry shuttle. That being said, if you want to explore the island, cab fares and water taxis are available but tend to be expensive. The car we rented after the first week provided the means to see more of St. Lucia, but we found we did not use it everyday. In hindsight, a daily car rental, available in town might have been the more cost effective. Would recommend the Villa and Marigot Bay to travelers who are not looking for the inclusive resort type of vacation.

Amazing, peaceful garden and steps away from fine dining.

I spend a lovely quiet week at Villa Papillon. Marigot Bay is absolutely gorgeous and it is steps away from the property. The villa itself is very well appointed and offers everything you need if you wish to self cater. The many small touches Beatrice ensure are there for you, are obvious the moment you there greeted by a welcome local beer! The food in Marigot is fabulous. I ate all around the bay and was never dissappointed. Lots of choicies at different price points. I spent most of my week at the bay since I was ill and I still throughly enjoyed my visit. I am a single lady travelling on my own and the property is very safe and the property manager, Cyrus is very attentive and available to assist. He even took me to the clinic when I got ill! (The health care is great if you get ill.) The owner Beatrice is very accessible on email and organized my airport pick up. One tip: if you wish to self cater, you might want to shop before you reach the villa. The shop close to the villa has limited selection. I did not rent a car since the driving is challenging getting to the villa. Grocery delivery is available from the store if you wish, but I like to check out the produce myself before purchasing. Thank you for a wonderful visit. I'm now happy and healthy on the the next leg of my trip. No doubt in part to the great care I received in St Lucia!

Lovely stay

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Papillon. The apartment was very nice and as described. It was clean, cozy and comfortable. Cyrus was very helpful. Great location with a great house manager

The location is amazing and within easy walking distance to Marigot Bay. There is a small grocery store, atm, and restaurants all within walking distance from the villa. I bought a bunch of food for the week when I arrived and cooked in the villa which had all the utensils I needed. There is a beach about a 15 minute walk from the villa with BBQ grills. Take a right out of the gate of the villa and take your third right down a gravel road that dead ends into the beach. I would wear water shoes the beach as rocks. The villa has air conditioning, hot water, a balcony and wifi. For those craving adventure, Cyrus knows everything there is to know about the island and will find the perfect adventure or sight seeing tour for you. Cyrus found my wife and I the perfect little sight seeing snorkeling boat tour which was the highlight of my visit. I can not brag about Cyrus enough! he was always available when we needed him and he made sure we were safe and had a great time. The villa is incredible and Cyrus makes the trip incredible. For those who enjoy a small hike, there is a trail along the ridge across the bay behind the rainforest hideaway. Very steep in places and an excellent view at the top! I can not wait to return to Marigot Bay!

Excellent !!

We arrived in Marigot Bay Feb. 2 and were pleasantly surprised at such a beautiful place. our rental property was everything one could wish for. The kitchen was well equipped, and the apartment was very comfortable.The short walk down to the bay was well worth the effort, the numerous restaurants, the view, the very friendly locals made one feel right at home!! Many of the islands attractions are easily accessible by either water taxis or land taxis at reasonable prices. We preferred the water taxis as you could visit many locations easily. We can not thank our property manager "Cyrus Brown" enough for making our month long vacation exceptional!!! His knowledge of the island and his willingness to assist us at all times was greatly appreciated. We met at the airport as strangers and left as good friends. Thank you Cyrus!! The Captain wishes he was still there.

Wonderful Property! Wonderful Trip!

My friend and I loved this apartment. It was beautifully furnished and had a well stocked kitchen. The bedroom A/C units worked perfectly and when needed cooled the entire unit with doors left open. The apartment is ideally located -- just a 3 minute walk from the town center and dock. Do note that one section of the walk is well paved but steep. Marigot Bay is an absolutely beautiful bay and marina. Everyone - boaters, tourists and islanders alike are welcoming and friendly. It has a very small town feel. If you want a touch of luxury, the newly renovated Capella hotel across the street has spa and restaurants that are available to non guests. Cheateau Mygo on the dock has a delightful live band on Tuesday nights that is excellent! As indicated in other reports, you need to drive 15 minutes away to get groceries. Clearly, the highlight of our stay was the property manager Cyrus Brown. Cyrus is a one of those rare individuals who infects you with his positive spirit and love of the island. He checked in on us each day, answered our never ending questions and gave us so many helpful tips about the area. Since we were not renting a car, we hired Cyrus as our driver to and from the airport and also as our tour guide for a day of exploring the sights around Soufriere. His rates are reasonable and he truly made our day each time we were with him. One evening we could not get the door combination lock to work and he appeared within 10 minutes to resolve the problem (which was not due to a defective lock). Thank you Cyrus for a memorable trip! I can’t wait to return!

We originally had our honeymoon in St Lucia in 1995 and have now bought a holiday home. The previous owner built this vacation home in Marigot Bay. The landscape is mountainous and lush with vegetation, the bay is filled with luxurious yachts of all sizes but this is in stark contrast to the daily struggles of many local families which is why we continue to support the previous owners nonprofit organization called Irie Kids, Inc. Profits from our rentals help fund programs for underprivileged children in our community.

Why they chose this property

This is a beautiful home and is one of the closest to the bay being a 2 minutes walk. We are so happy to have bought this as a holiday home and we are happy to share it with some of the proceeds being put back into the local community as the previous owners did. We are fortunate to have kept the wonderful staff who truly care for guests which is reflected in our 5 star reviews on multiple websites. We hope that Villa Papillon is a sincere reflection of the grace and beauty that is Saint Lucia. SIMPLE & BEAUTIFUL!
