About this property

Carriage House On 150 Feet Of Lake Front

This immaculate 1 bedroom Carriage House offers you the best of all vacation spots – 150 feet of lake frontage with crystal clear water (you can count the rocks and fish swimming below you!), fantastic views, southwestern exposure for sunny days & sunsets that will stun you, eagles flying past your windows, loons and ducks swimming by, great fishing, hiking and wilderness areas close by, Flathead Lake within 45 minutes and only 1 1/4 hour's drive (50 miles) from Glacier National Park. The local gathering and eating spot (Hilltop Hitching Post) is 5 minutes away. Amazing golfing, all varieties of sports, antiquing and art galleries are available throughout the Flathead Valley. Rock climbing is nearby, as is sky diving, hiking, and fishing.

Located above the owner’s garage with private entrance, this getaway sleeps 2 and comes completely furnished. The living area has a new, comfortable fold-out sleeper. Included is a full kitchen, bath, living room, all linens, full appliances, cooking equipment, free Wi-Fi , TV for VCR & DVD player, HDMI cable for using your computer, totally private views, your own BBQ & seating area overlooking the lake, separate sloping path to the lake (bring water shoes for the rocky shore), floating dock & floating swim dock, canoe, sit-on-top kayak (you will get wet!), pedal boat and life vests and fire pit. (Beach area is shared with owner only!) Perfect for that private vacation or for visiting family or friends in the area.

Please note that Bitterroot Lake is subject to fluctuating water levels and typically, the floating dock and swim dock are in place between Memorial Day and Labor Day. If water levels permit, the season may be extended at either end of the summer. Both docks are floating and therefore subject to wave action when there is wind.

In winter, play in the snow, ice skate, cross country ski or ice fish on the lake! Year-round enjoy the neighboring towns, (Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork) a variety of restaurants and ski at the world-class Whitefish Mountain Resort (45 minute drive).

Please note: There is no smoking on the premises. Also, the property is not H/C Accessible. There is one flight of stairs up to the unit. Access to the lake is down a sloping path.

Great location okay building.

It was an okay experience the bed was pretty uncomfy maybe I'm just picky. The place wasn't super clean stuff in drawers food items expired 10 years lots of spiders and spiderwebs about. The good was that the location was fantastic and the lake was beautiful and had neat accessories.

Beautiful Getaway

Patricia and Frank were the kindest people. Their property was beautiful and the lake was amazing! Many things to do in the area. Highly recommend horseback riding at Dream Haven Guest Ranch. And only a short 1 hr 15 min drive to West Glacier. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

A perfect trip

Our stay at the carriage house was such a treat. The proximity to the lake is unbeatable. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and made sure we knew the best spots to visit. Thoughtful touches like the puzzles and dvd collection made a rainy day enjoyable. A perfectly peaceful location makes for the best home base for trips into Glacier National Park. We truly enjoyed our time and would love to come back!

The Carraige House and Bakeries

A peaceful retreat yet close enough to various activities, some beautiful scenery, great hiking/fishing and some very good bakeries. Patricia and Frank are amazing hosts and made us feel very welcome. The Carraige House had everything we needed and even when the weather was not cooperative, we were never short of interesting activities and some quiet time enjoying the views. Our best VRBO experience in North America and Europe.

I did not realize how far out of town it was. The apartment is ok. Owners have stored canning pots, jars, etc. in the kitchen. Little room for dry foods/goods. Also stored exercise equipment in the foyer. Little room for renters own storage. No window coverings anywhere but one window in bedroom. The owners are diligent about the upkeep and rules of the property. It’s very clean and they are nice.

Beautiful setting and Wonderful hosts

This was our anyversary trip and the first one to Montana. We had wonderful time and already planing to come back. Thank you Patricia and Frank for your hospitality! We enjoyed your company and our conversations. Even though the cottage is next to owner's house it is very private. Very clean with beautiful views of the lake out of living room. Full kitchen (make sure to bring your groceries), comfortable bed (linens and all towels provided). Check in and out was easy. The water in the lake is unreal! So clean, you can see your feet as you stand with the water up to your neck. The beach is not sandy, so water shoes will help with rocky shore (we did not have any, but it did not bother us at all). We had fun taking pedal boat and canoe out. It is very quiet in the mornings, the water on the lake looks like glass, but usually by lunch time the wind picks up and it becomes a little choppy. The sunsets are beautifull and if you have a clear night, the stars are magnificent. They have plenty of seating outside: chairs, zero gravity chair and benches by firepit (firewood provided). The Glacier National Park is only 1 hour away (spent couple of days there). We did not have a chance to explore the neighborhood since we were hooked on the lake, but the hosts have a booklet with sugestions on restaurants and what to do in the area. Very nice people and they make you feel welcomed. Best stay ever!!! Lucy and Konstantin.

Perfect Solitude!

My s/o & I needed a break from what has been a crazy two years, and decided we also wanted to be safe. The carriage house was so perfect! We took the peddle boat out each morning, and relaxed right on the shoreline of the lake. We were greeted kindly by the owners: Patricia and Frank each day and their lovely pup Molly, but left to our own devices. The house is in pristine condition, and we had everything necessary to make sure our stay went smoothly. This is treasure in Montana, and we will most definitely be back to visit!!

Ideal lake vacation

My wife and I just recently spent a week at the DiStefano’s lakeside carriage house on Little Bitterroot Lake. It fit our goals and situation perfectly. The size and amenities of the carriage house were ideal for us. We loved the quietness and beauty of the lake. The property was the right distance from Kalispell to get whatever we needed. We had always wanted to see Glacier National Park - about an hour and a quarter away - and got to do that. One day we drove to Flathead Lake, had lunch in Bigfork right on the lake and went shopping in town. Did I mention huckleberries ……. pie, ice cream, candles and yes even lip gloss for our granddaughter?! In the end, probably the best part was the unique relationship we developed with the DiStefano’s. They gave us “insider” information about the area to make the most of our trip. They were gracious hosts to put it mildly. Create a window in your schedule to stay at the DiStefano’s carriage house on Little Bitterroot Lake.

Wonderful Stay

The apartment was inviting, well appointed, very clean and had literally everything I could have needed including ice packs and Tupperware. The location is fairly remote, but the hosts made sure I knew exactly how to find it and that I had everything I needed. There's so much to do in the area and about an hour from Glacier's East Entrance, but also just hanging by the lake for the day would be perfect. Would definitely stay again and for longer than my couple of days passing through.

About the host

My husband and I raised our children here during summers and all holidays before finally making the jump to living here full-time in 2008. And wondered why we did not do it sooner! I am born and raised in Montana and have found that this is the most perfect place to be!

Why they chose this property

The lake is literally picture-perfect! We have year-round easy access, clean water, great fishing, swimming, boating, wilderness around the corner, yet are only 20 miles from town. We watch the fawns come eat our flowers in the summer, the eagles fly by in the fall, the deer and elk amble by in the winter, and the bunnies come out in the spring. What else could you want?

What makes this property unique

We love to sit out and look at the lake. It never fails to uplift our spirits and give us a new lease on life. We light a fire down by the lake summer or winter and can talk into the night with friends and family. The view is stupendous and the area is quiet and rural.
