Very convenient location to both Bar Harbor and South Harbor. Not far from the Carriage Trails and many hikes. The house was very clean, quiet and was a peaceful place to relax.

September Getaway
The property matched the listing. Lack of kitchen table/chairs is the only observation I missed when booking. Not a big deal for adult groups (Breakfast bar with seating for two exists.) It was great that a hard sided cooler was provided!

Excellent location
Excellent location for touring the island!! It was hard to believe though how many people don't know how to open casement windows and a lot of the window cranks were broken. With AC at times the house got hot not being able to open all the windows. Overall our stay was very nice and enjoyable!! Thank you Amber for hosting us!

Great home base for a week on MDI
Amber's neat and tidy home offers a convenient launch point to not only downtown Bar Harbor but also lots of other spots across MDI. We appreciated having the kitchen so that we could make breakfast and lunch at home, and even pack a few picnic dinners for enjoying at sunsets throughout the park. The kitchen and living area inside are not particularly large so if you are planning to host a large group dinner indoors this is not the space for you. However, there was also deck seating and backyard seating that could accommodate a larger group, whether permitting. It's more or less a 30 minute drive or shorter to most points of interest around the island. The bedrooms are a nice size and Amber provided extra blankets and towels that were also helpful to have on hand. It was easy to get in touch with Amber when we had a question about the trash, and Amber was also very communicative about some work on the deck that happened during our stay and making sure it wasn't inconvenient for us.

Great house, great destination
Our family of six had a superb experience at this rental. The home is well-appointed, the kitchen well-stocked, and the details all in place. We appreciated Amber's notebook of recommendations and used it often. When we had a difficulty, Amber responded in minutes and tended to it with great communication and kindness. She was a delight to work with. As for Acadia, it is a place of ridiculous beauty. We had a great time hiking together and seeing the views from many mountaintops. What a fantastic week we had.

Clean, quiet retreat
We had a wonderful time staying at this house. It was one of the cleanest rentals I’ve been in and it instantly felt like home. Everything on the island is within a short drive of the house, and we loved exploring during our stay, especially with the amazing fall colors. It would have been nice to have seating for more than two at the bar as our family of four could not have dinner together, but we realize there isn’t much room in the small house for a proper dining table. (We would have loved using the outdoor table, but the weather was too wet during our stay.) In addition, the mattresses, while not uncomfortable, were very noisy. And the master tub was tough to get into and out of, especially after running the marathon! Overall, this was a great, clean, and quiet place to stay to experience MDI.

Centrally located
This property was centrally located to Acadia and Bar Harbor. House was clean, nice kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal. The appliances in the kitchen were nicely updated. The beds were a lot to be desired, not enough washcloths for the four of us. They did supply body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The on suite bathroom was nice but slippery. I did not like the oversized tub. Too hard to get in and out of, the other bathroom was fine. There was not enough water pressure for the showers. The furniture in the main room was very uncomfortable and desperately needs updated. There needs to be tables in this room with lamps, we had a hard time relaxing because of the furniture. The driveway need to be lit up a little, we missed it at least 3 times. Over all we give this house 6 out of 10, mostly because of the comfort of the beds and the furniture.

SeaStone Cottage was purchased in the spring of 2013 by Amber Howard, a local island resident. As the daughter of a stone mason, Amber decided to pay homage to her heritage and name this property after the stone cairns that guide hikers through Acadia National Park. With SeaStone Amber hopes to share her love of adventure and travel, all on the island she first experienced as a little girl. Amber continues to live and work in Bar Harbor at one of the local restaurants and as a massage therapist. Her family lives nearby and often helps with gardening, maintenance and property management.

Why they chose this property

Mount Desert Island was selected as the 25th best island in the world by Travel & Leisure. Sand Beach was featured as the Destination of the Day by The Huffington Post. Acadia National Park was rated as the 2nd best for biking in the country. And Bar Harbor's Town Square was honored as one of the most beautiful by Travel & Leisure.

This island is known as 'Eden,' and I hope that while you visit with us you are able to Live, Travel, Adventure, and experience this amazing place and come to love it as I have.

What makes this property unique

SeaStone Cottage is in the ideal location for those looking for a complete vacation experience on Mount Desert Island. Spend your morning swimming in Echo Lake, or jumping off the secluded cliffs into Long Pond. Enjoy the view of Somes Sound from the top of Acadia Mountain. Hike the Beehive in the afternoon, or if you're daring take a chilly dip at Sand Beach. End your evening in Bar Harbor enjoying dinner or watching the sun set from the top of Cadillac Mountain. Don't forget to end the night with some ice cream while you enjoy live music in the Village Green, or a cocktail at any of the local watering holes. Wherever you go, you are always just minutes away from SeaStone!
