About this property

Walk To St. John's Beautiful North Shore Beaches!Newly Renovated/AirConditioned

Odin, Norse god of wind, surveyed everything in his realm from his throne - Lidskjalf. At Lidskjalf at Annaberg, you will survey the untouched beauty of St. John's north shore as it was hundreds of years ago when the first seafaring gods came upon it.

Walk to three National Park beaches from this wonderful island home. Francis Bay beach is five minutes away on foot, Little Maho beach a more invigorating fifteen minute hike, and Leinster Bay beach an easy ten minute stroll along the water. Some of the best snorkeling can be found off Leinster point and Waterlemon Cay, so bring your mask and fins!

Three queen bedrooms and four bathrooms with two outdoor showers complement the huge great room/kitchen, which boasts a wall of picture perfect views. The bedrooms are all very private, with each having its own flat panel tv, A/C, sea view, and sitting area just outside a sliding glass door.

Pretend you are Christopher Columbus looking at the untouched National Park bays and hillsides or watch your favorite channel on satellite TV and check email and Facebook with WiFi.

Either way, be prepared to experience the true St. John--its stunning beauty and incomparable beaches!

House was a little in need of upgrades but price was reflective of that
Had a great time! Loved the location and set up for our three couples, it is in the national forest which is wonderful but does come with the rustic accommodations that go with that, Luciah was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with, saint John truly is a beautiful place!

Love the property but needs some TLC
First off the property was beautiful and close to the nicest beaches on the island. House was beautiful, private and nicely laid out. Francis Bay was a short 5 minute walk. The house has so much potential, but like prior reviews needs some TLC. Full transparency We dealt with 4-5 power outages, none longer then 4 hours but still disruptive when trying to shower preparing to go out and just getting back from beach. Communication of the outages by WAPA was never really accurate. Adding a generator would be a nice touch knowing the island is prone to outages. Bugs, sure there were mosquitos and such, but the fact they were in the house was a bit of a downer. The doors and other imperfections to the main and secondary living areas had gaps around the seals in them that must allow the mosquitos to get in unless there is another way I could not see. This was troublesome for those trying to sleep while getting kamikazed by mosquitoes. We also had geckos in the house which i didn't mind as I am sure they controlled the bug count some, but the 3 girls were terrified, mainly seeing the gecko poop everywhere. Door locks need to be replaced. Always a struggle getting back into the house trying to get the locks to unlock. Pictures online must be very outdated as the bathrooms and such look 10-15 years older then the pictures. Wear and tear is evident, but the bones of the house are good.

Beautiful ocean and islands view
We really enjoyed our stay. My son loved the outdoor shower (he is 9). My husband and I enjoyed the deck views while sipping on our morning coffee. House was comfortable and cool. Very quiet area of the island and extremely close to amazing beaches on the North Shore. Highly recommend for vacations with family and/or friends.

Not What It Used To Be
We have stayed at this property 7 different times previously and have enjoyed our stays. With each stay we seen some wear and tear. We feel that the home needs some over due maintenance. The air conditioner in the main house wasn’t working and needs to be replaced per the tech that came out. He did get it running but it was barely cooling the room. The main house was infested with mosquitos and was almost unusable. We did find some insect spray and tried that but it didn’t really help much. The washer and dryer are past needing replacement. The washer spin cycle was very finicky and not functioning properly. The house was clean and has a good variety of kitchen cooking equipment. It is sad to see the house that we have enjoyed so much needing some substantial TLC.

VRBO be aware
We were double booked because the property manager said their booking software didn’t talk to the VBRO software. The manager did find us other accommodations, but we didn’t find out until 1day before vacation. Caused a lot of last minute stress. Accommodations were no where close to original location.

Lidskjalf at Annaberg
We have been to St. Johns many times. This property was very secluded and quiet with a nice view. The property was clean and consist of 3 bungalows. The problem was on the first night we lost power on the lower level. The a/c worked and that was it. We called and they were very nice and prompt to investigate the issue but it was not fixed during our stay. The lower level has outdoor showers and was very difficult to do anything down there without electric. When the staff was investigating the power problem they knocked out the a/c in another upper level bungalow. That was unresolved for the rest of our trip. The TV's worked, but none of the remotes worked. Stations had to be changed by hand. The power outage downstairs also eliminated the patio lighting and the lights to see as you were going down the stairs. Other than that the bugs were very bad. St John has really changed since our last visit, Coral Bay is wiped out with few places to eat. Getting food was difficult, they have built more homes and no parking in Cruz Bay. Most places to eat required at least 2 day notice for a reservation.

Quiet Escape with Gorgeous Views
This home worked great for our family of five (three teenagers) on our first visit to St. John. The location, view, and outdoor space were stellar. Easy walk to Francis Bay and amazing stargazing from the deck at night. A few thoughts: --The primary bedroom/bathroom is in a separate little cottage, which is nice and private, but be aware that there are NO window coverings at all, so if you aim to sleep in, you may want to bring some sleep masks. The other bedrooms have blinds. The (major) upside is that you wake up to gorgeous sunrises and a view of the BVIs! --Drinking water: Water is from a cistern and they recommend not drinking it (but fine for cooking and showering). By the end of the week we had accumulated a RIDICULOUS amount of plastic water bottles and discovered there is nowhere to recycle them. It would be good to know if is a better way to get drinking water (in larger/reusable jugs?) --There were lots of little biting gnats/mosquitos that made sitting outside less appealing than we would have thought (we ended up eating inside vs at the gorgeous outdoor table a few times). Definitely bring some bug spray (we also found some left behind by previous guests). --There are two outdoor showers but no shower in the lower level bedroom (which is separate from the main house). The outdoor showers were a bit dirty with bugs, etc. so our teen daughters shared a bathroom with us. No big deal but might be helpful to know. --Management was friendly and responsive.

Quiet, Cozy, Scenic
Our stay was simply amazing. The home was perfect for our family. Three private bedrooms with comfy beds. All the amenities and services needed. The setting and scenery was breathtaking looking out and the British Virgin Islands over emerald waters. Sunrises and sunsets exactly as you would dream in your best dreams. Great location close to the best beaches in the world. World class beaching and snorkeling and hiking? Just wonderful!

If you like to be away from the hustle and bustle on vacation, this is the place to go. You're not so far that you can't get what you need, but you don't have people right up against you while you're trying to relax. We loved it, the views were spectacular and the hospitality was exceptional.

Great house and location
The home is perfect for a grown family for a stay near the water. You can walk to Francis Bay and the deck overlooks Leinster Bay. We could have spent a week just lounging on the deck, but the beaches are too beautiful to miss. Recent improvements of a roof over the outdoor dining and a lattice roof over a portion of the outdoor sitting area make it an absolutely perfect place to spend a morning and/or evening. The managers are also very responsive and came right out when we had a minor problem with the safe. We’ve been staying in this area for over 20 years and have already booked our return. St.John and this home are gems.

Quiet retreat
Wonderful peaceful house. Well positioned on the island. Super close to Maho and Francis bay. Great porch for relaxing morning time. Pictures are accurate and no other houses right on top of you. House is clean. Kitchen utensils a little sparse or broken. Make sure to bring spices for cooking if you plan on cooking in but rest of experience far out shadows nitpicking’s about kitchen.

Wonderful house, wonderful view
We had a great time at the house. We are hikers/walkers, and there were nice walks in both directions, Frances Bay and beach on one side, and Leinster bay on the other. We hiked up to the Murphy house several times. The kitchen is well equipped, great dining deck and next to that is a covered deck and a sunbathing area. 3 bedrooms, all with outdoor access and views. Having laundry on site is a real plus. This is the 3rd place we have rented on St John and definitely the best.

This place is gorgeous!!!
First of all Bianca the property manager was awesome!! She met us at the ferry, and guided us to one of the local grocery stores and then to the property! She was extremely responsive to any questions we had. She really helped make our trip incredible. The house is very nice, and the water views are exquisite! You are truly within walking distance to one of the many beaches! It never got old looking out over the water!

North shore beauty and solitude
Estate Annaberg was perfect for our week long stay. The home had some nice, useful touches including being well lit, beach/snorkel gear and chairs, an amazing patio overlooking Leinster Bay and all the quiet and solitude a family could want along with access to great beaches both walking and driving. If you like being off the beaten path and in a nicely appointed place, this is it. We did notice a few extra live and dead bugs, but that is to be expected in a home within the jungle there. Loved this property! Will come again!

Great stay near Francis Bay
We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay at Lidskjalf. The house was nice with air conditioning in all rooms, which is especially nice in July. As others have mentioned, it’s a tropical island and there are some minor problems with bugs and critters, but nothing bad and there was bug spray provided. The location was perfect for us. It’s 20-25 minutes to Cruz Bay and 15 minutes to Coral Bay and a 5-10 minute walk to our favorite beach, Francis Bay Beach. Francis Bay has really good snorkeling. The reef is not as big as some, but there is a good mix of sea grass beds and coral reef which means a great variety of life. We saw stingrays, turtles, octopi, squid, a spotted eagle ray, and countless species of fish. We had a great time. I don’t have much criticism to make of the property. If I were to nitpick, it would be that there was a little maintenance that needs to be done, a cabinet door that wouldn’t stay on its hinges and a lack of any tools with which to fix it. There were other items that seemed tired and could use attention, but it’s an island and things suffer from the climate. Understand that and you will be a much happier traveler. These issues and the lack of a true covered outdoor space are the only things keeping this from being a 5 star review. Overall the property was great. We had everything we needed and everything worked. We were warned that the electricity and internet services could be spotty, but we never had an interruption. I would recommend the folks at Arawak for kayak rentals, FlyAway for boat charters, and Pizzabar in Paradise for some of the best pizza and painkillers anywhere. I would happily recommend Lidskjalf to anyone and would not hesitate to book this property again. Thanks for a great place to spend a week with my family!

Wonderful
Wonderful place to completely disconnect from work and reconnect with nature. BJ was extremely accommodating with our family needs. The deck, the view of the lagoon, and just the seclusion of the place are undoubtedly outstanding. It was also very well stocked with all the necessities and a couple of beers. I have to comment on an amazing bird that politely knocks the bedroom window just one or two times everyday at exactly around 7am. Maybe the owners trained it to show up for breakfast, but that was such an amazing wake up call to go out and explore. Francis bay that is a hop away is an incredible place for snorkeling in comparison to other big name beaches and the word seems to be spreading fast. Get organic bug spray because and a 4 WD to explore as this base is very much in the heart of the national park. Absolutely lovely and memorable experience. A true vacation.

The Perfect Island Getaway
Some friends and I stayed here for a summer vacation and this place was BETTER than we ever expected! We were greeted by a lovely lady named Kat who showed us how to get to the house and recommended things to do, grocery stores, places to eat, and anything else you could think of was found in this binder in the house which was so helpful! You will definitely see exhilarating views of the sunrise & sunset and if you’d like to lay and watch the stars you should, we all did every night! Such a wonderful stay, I highly recommend staying here and making some wonderful memories :)

Great Vacation!
Loved this house... Family (husband, me, 2 daughters 18/20) rented this house for a week in March 2015. LOVED it! St John's Properties (Andretti) very helpful... House is very nice - had everything we needed. The location is great - hiked every morning at 6 folllowed by an early swim with the turtles/rays at the beach down the road. Walked to Francis beach - beautiful. Lots of beaches a short drive... Great snorkeling at a few different reefs within walking distance. Played tennis at caneel bay and used their facilities as well. Will definitely be returning....
