Ski time fun!
This unit photographs nicely and for the most part it looks just like the pictures. Mostly clean at eye level…but lots of cobwebs and a little dusty. Plenty of sleeping and common space for our family of 9. Washer and dryer great for wet ski stuff. Master king bed is unsleepable. Head lays downhill, no support and it needs to be replaced. We tried sleeping with books under the legs at the head, with our head at the foot and then thankfully, there were two twin mattresses downstairs that we brought up and laid on the king box spring. Not great but manageable. Location was great! 3-4 minute walk down the road to access the 4 o’clock run. Lots of snow so we were able to ski the road home. Replace the king bed in the master and we would stay again.

Great Location, Not Great Property Management
We were very excited to stay at this location given its proximity (walk to, ski back) of Breckenridge Mountain. When we first arrived, it was clear that the description of the unit should state 4x4 vehicle is REQUIRED and not recommended as the steepness of the driveway and just a small amount of snow made it very difficult for us to get one of our vehicles that was rear wheel drive out of the driveway. Snow removal at the unit was sub-par as I had to request multiple times to the property manager to have the driveway cleared and the initial response of "we have regularly scheduled maintenance" was not acceptable as the driveway amassed 8+ inches of snow and required one additional request to the manager for the driveway to finally be cleared on Thursday (4 days after arrival/initial requiest). In addition to driveway issues, upon arrival we were informed that the upstairs bathroom shower was leaking and that we were not to use it. So 6 people were forced to share 1 shower...It was not horrible, but would have been better to inform us of this before we arrive instead of learning it from a note on the fridge when we arrive. Other than those pains, our group of 6 had plenty of beds and large common areas for us to have a good time and not feel on top of one another.

Good news and bad news
First of all, the house was neat and clean and orderly when we arrived. There was a mix up on how to get into the house. It was supposed to be unlocked, but was locked and no one could help us. On our own, we finally found a hidden key outside. Although it has not been updated, the house was in reasonably good shape. It was reasonably priced compared to other condos and homes in the area. It is a ski in, ski out house, if there is enough snow on the road. There are plenty of beds for a large group like ours and the kitchen was even stocked with groceries left behind by other renters. (Really do need more than 7 forks) It is also nice that we had a 2 car garage to park in. If you don't have a four wheel drive vehicle, do not rent this house because of the steep driveway down to the house. We had two front wheel drive vehicles and had trouble getting up the icy street in front of the house. The driveway was the real challenge. It was steep and covered in a thick layer of ice. They had a snow removal service but we still had to shovel and chip out the ice in two ruts to get down the driveway and into the garage. Getting out was another matter entirely. The snow plow service "cleared" the driveway of a recent 9" snow but still left the thick layer of ice. We had snow socks (like chains) for our front wheel drive vehicles, and, with significant effort were able to get both vehicles up the steep driveway. Even the man (Darren) who lives in the separate basement was not able to get out of the driveway without our help. Inside the house, the sheets on the beds were badly pilled, scratchy and uncomfortable. New sheets are badly needed. All of the toilets were not sufficiently anchored down and rocked back and forth when you sat down. The house has 2.5 bathrooms, but you are warned not to use the shower upstairs because it leaks. You definitely need to bring extra toilet paper and paper towels. With a family of six adults and three kids, we quickly ran through their supply. (one extra roll of toilet paper and no extra paper towels; we were staying for six nights). They should provide extra toilet paper in each bathroom as well as extra paper towels in the kitchen. During our stay, water began to leak from the ceiling in the kitchen. Darren was able to remove snow from the roof to stop the leak. However, we almost had water damage to a laptop and a cell phone that were near the leak. For the price we paid, we shouldn't have had these issues..

Ski trip
Terrific location with short walk to the runs! This was perfect for our group of kids and adults and made it so easy to start and end the day as well as swing by for lunch. Check in was a easy as it gets and communication was superb. Well stocked kitchen with everything you could need. The furnishings and some of the facilities are a bit dated and that led to a couple of minor issues. We had a bunk bed break (it was promptly fixed!) and had a water leak downstairs from an upstairs shower. One of our guests found one of the upstairs beds too soft to comfortably sleep. All in all a great value though and we had a fantastic stay.

Enjoyed our stay
We had a great trip to Breck and the location of this house is very nice. Communication was great and very friendly. The layout of this house didnt exactly suit our group so doublecheck that before you book. You have to walk through one bedroom to access another. The house itself is cozy, very well stocked and the hosts are very thoughtful with what they have available. We really enjoyed our stay and if we have a smaller party would definitely book again.

Great stay - enjoyed almost everything!
The 2 things I am not happy with are as follows: it's a little bit of a hike to the nearest shuttle stop (gold camp) especially if you have snowboard/ski gear. That being said, if you time your day right, you can ride from the runs on to the street down to the house. Also, we were told there was access to washer/dryer during our stay. We arrived and were left with "the people staying before you broke it" and didn't receive any compensation or means of fixing the issue. Being that we had a party of 8, we fully intended on getting atleast one or 2 loads of laundry done and not having to pay extra for such. Both those things aside, the stay was great,.

My stay at this home was very nice. In the first part of my stay, there were 5 people, and the home was very spacious. By the 12th of August, there were just 2 of us. So, obviously there was more room than we really needed. I wasnt able to rate my stay with the stars, for some reason I wasnt able to get the stars to go as high as I wanted. I don't know why. I tried a number of times. As you can see, I could only get 3 stars, even tho I hit 5 in some cases. As far as check in and out, it was very easy The location was perfect. Close to busses and gondola. Very quiet area. All in all it was a wonderful stay.

FABULOUS LOCATION
We stayed Dec 20th-24th and had an absolutely lovely time. The house was fantastic - great for the large family that we had all staying together. It snowed our first day there, so for the rest of the trip we were able to put our skis on at the end of the driveway and ski down to the lift, then ski all the way back to the driveway again.

Beautiful house in beautiful location!!
We absolutely loved this house. It had plenty of room for everyone in the common spaces as well as the nice-sized bedrooms. The area is breathtaking and it was so nice to be able to walk to the slopes or take a 2 minute drive to the shops. This was our first trip to Breckenridge and the entire trip was excellent. Thank you so much!!

Perfect location / everything you need
Everything went without a hitch and the place is well equipped. Easy walk to ski in or ski out and even better to ski in when there is fresh snow because you can ride right down to the front door. Enjoyed our stay and the group is already talking about next year and staying here again if available when we make up our minds.

Hope to visit this home again
Our goal, every year, is to get out family together for a Christmas on the slopes. It is one of two or three times each year we have the opportunity to be in one place. I was looking for a place big enough to hold all of us, enough beds and bathrooms, and close enough to eliminate the early morning rush to, or evening rush from the mountains. The Mountain Retreat delivers on all of those and did so at a reasonable price. If you're looking for glitz and glamour this isn't the place, but if you're looking for a well stocked kitchen, large table to eat together, or place for family to relax in front of a fireplace, beds for all, and a great location, this has it. It's a little dated, but who cares... Mtn is a short couple blocks walk to the Mountains in the morning, and a quick ski back, literally to the front of the property in the evening. As others have mentioned, there is two bedrooms on the main floor that share an entrance and a bathroom, a quirky design, but once again, who cares...you're two blocks from the mtn! One suggestion though, swap the queen and baby crib in the room attached to the master to the bedroom with the bunk room downstairs. I'm thinking having the parents / baby in their separate space and the bunk bed age kids (sleep all night) share the joint space might work better :) Overall, enjoyed our expierence, found the owners very easy to work with, loved some of the extras, like sleds for the little ones, and plan to use them again in the future!

My family and I loved Mountain Refuge and had a wonderful time!
Mountain Refuge was perfect for my family. There was 16 of us and had plenty of room. Loved the fact we could walk to end of street and get on the slopes and then ski right on in from the slopes. We were minutes from the town. My family and I were blessed to be able to stay at Mountain Refuge.

Exactly what we needed.
Had a great stay in this house. Two families and two grandmas fit just right. 11 people total. 6 Adults and 5 children (ages 3-7). We cooked at the house 5 of the 7 nights. Kitchen has everything you need. Enormous garage was great. Location is great, 10 min walk to the Gondola to get down to town. Hiking trails were close to the house. Downstairs beds and living room couch could use an upgrade. Would definitely recommend this house to others looking for an affordable vacation in Breck.

Amazing location
Had a great stay at the Mountain Refuge. The home is older and quite dated but was fine for our group of 9 adults and 1 baby. The kitchen is modern and fully stocked. The 2 and 1/2 bathrooms were functional. [ I have never seen a dark brown toilet and bathtub before]. The floor plan is a little quirky. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor. The second bedroom is accessed through the master bedroom and the bathroom is shared. We got used to that but it would have been nice to know that before hand. The 2 bedrooms in the basement were fine but my sons felt that the bunk bed mattresses needed replacing in the one bedroom. There is no heat register in the master bedroom but we found a space heater in the garage that worked well. Speaking of the garage, we fit 2 vehicles in it easily and it was nice to have them out of the cold. There is about a 10 minute walk in ski boots to the trails to ski down to the lifts. On the way home you just ski down the street to the house. Again, you cannot beat the location. You are surrounded by multimillion dollar homes in a swanky neighborhood. I would recommend this house to anyone with a large family hoping to create some great memories together. The only thing missing is a hot tub. The owner and property manager were quite helpful and easy to work with. It is a 5 minute drive to about anything in town.

Well situated and suited
This house was ample for our family of five. We did not need the 4th bedroom which was accessed thru the MBR. We enjoyed the proximity to the slopes, skiing down the street to the Snowflake lift, while the boarders preferred to walk to Trygves Run, which was the return route to the house, as clearly described in our arrival information. Without these instructions, we would have easily lost our way back to the house, or mistakenly ended up in town. The kitchen was well stocked with pantry essentials and plenty plates and pots/pans. We ate all of our meals at the house after a single trip to the City Market (for which a loyalty card was on the carabiner with the house key). An abundance of firewood was stacked in the garage. The house was ready at our early arrival, clean and comfortable. Eric shoveled the walks and roof and offered to pull the cars up the driveway if we needed. We shoveled out 10+" of new snow from the driveway the morning of our departure, just before the plow came to finish the job. I could only suggest a digital lock to better accommodate access to the house.

Mountain Refuge is what it's all about!
We stayed a week at Mountain Refuge , 3/21-3/28/15 and had an incredible time. The location on Peak 8 at Breck was perfect for ski in, ski out and the home was perfect for the 5 of us with room for more. Great accommodations, great location, cozy fireplace every night and all the amenities of home. Washer and dryer helped alot with wet gloves! Wish we could stay longer. Will consider coming back for Summer fun and definitely for next ski year. This place rocks!

Best Ski Vacation Rental
We had two families stay in this house with a total of 4 adults and 5 teens and kids. It could not have worked better. There was more than enough space and the house had everything families need - abundant cooking supplies and even cooking food staples, games and books, and DVD's, extra bedding and air mattress, boot driers, bathroom supplies, etc. The proximity to the ski runs was ideal. The skiing works well for all ability levels. And if you ever have an issue or a question, this owner is always reachable and quick to address any inquiry. The whole experience was a pleasure and we would not hesitate to come back another year! Thank you for a memorable and easy family vacation!

Convenient Retreat_great for a family
What a wonderful time we had at this retreat. Everything you can imagine is available and the kitchen is more than adequately equiped. We cooked a lot and there are all kinds of supplies that others have left to make cooking with essentials easy and cheap. Leave a little behind is a good practice (pay it forward). We got stuck in the driveway with all the snow and ice. The snow plows come frequently and cleared not only the road but our driveway. A word of caution...do not leave your car on the side of the road unless you want your car to be plowed under and you shoveling out:) We found twine to tie our trunk down when people and ski equipment could no longer fit. We found shovels and boards to pull ourselves out of the snow and ice. The house was very comfortably furnished and the mountain very convenient to get on and off. Love this place!
