Perfect place to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary!

Everyone in our family has really enjoyed staying in this amazing home. Kids (+grown-ups too) had fun foosball wars plus the decks were perfect for playing with diabolos and launching flying saucers. Musical bunk beds was also a popular kid pass time, while the older folks slept in comfort and peace in the lovely bedrooms. The view by day was amazing and the stars by night were exquisite. This was the perfect place to celebrate our parents/grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Thank you so much for opening this home to us! The Kirkpatricks and the Criders

Wonderful week in Pagosa Springs

This house was beautiful in a lovely setting. We walked the neighborhood every morning and watched the hot air balloons. We enjoyed watching the sun go down on the back porch in the evenings as the deer grazed all around the house. Such a comfortable house with living areas on all three levels. Well stocked….nothing we needed. And our host, Hans, was quick to reply with any questions we had. Wonderful week! We will be back!

A Week In A Log Cabin

This is a beautiful property and our family enjoyed a wonderful week there. We gathered often in the family room enjoying the view and the beautiful log structure. This is a log cabin in the most luxurious fashion. The wrap around deck was a favorite spot for reading or, in the early morning or evening, watching for the deer who would always visit. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with very high quality equipment. The house is very roomy and we all had plenty of space. The upstairs loft was a bit warm at night but there were fans. The location was good for all of us. It was a short distance to Pagosa Springs for shopping or to go to the hot springs or tubing. Our hiking and biking enthusiasts found interesting trails I would recommend the Durango—Silverton steam locomotive train ride. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and very explicit in their expectations of their guests. In fact , the list of their requirements was a bit intimidating. However, the cabin was very clean and well cared for.

Family Summer Vacation

I first want to say that I commend anyone who is willing to rent out their beautiful Colorado home to strangers; however with that said IF you are willing to rent your home, please try to get to know the individuals you are renting to--the owners sent "numerous" emails to me expressing what me/persons staying with me could do or not do. I admit there was poor communications on my part with the exact number of persons who would be in the house. When I first requested to rent the house, I was very honest when stating the number who would be staying. As the months passed several more were added AND I truly didn't think I needed to tell the owners ALL my plans--AND I knew there were ONLY to be 10 at the most staying at the house. AND there never were. But I felt "threatened" several times when I received emails stating I would be charged extra for additional people. I was also very upset to have to ask IF my sisters/brother in law could come by and visit--NOT stay--they had their own condo. I was told I could not have them at the residence!! We left the house just as clean as it was when we arrived--the cleaning that was requested was a LOT more than any I've encountered before. OF course there are great things about this home. Kitchen is very well supplied to cooking items/utensils/dishes etc. The patio views are great; however,, N.Pagosa Blvd is right off the patios and can be a bit noisy in the morning. The view is great--BUT If it is a sunny day--you cannot possibly we on the patios or in the great room/den from 1 pm--7pm. Very very bright--we were wearing our sunglasses inside--and extremely HOT. Owners have fans, which helped--but just be prepared. The nights do cool off some. We knew the house did not have AC, and we were prepared, but I don't think anyone can be prepared for the heat it causes in the big family room during the mentioned hours. Several of the beds are not comfortable--two people roll to the middle--the bottom sheets do not have elastic and you have to totally remake the beds each day. With the security cameras--we felt "watched" and not more secure. The neighborhood is very quiet--except for the nonstop barking dog across N. Pagosa Blvd--it can get annoying at times. Hans did take care of a matter with the lodge bedroom/bath immediately, which was much appreciated. I truly suggest taking the carpet out of the lodge bedroom/bath due to the smell of mold. I will continue visiting this great Colorado town!!

Beautiful Cabin, Beautiful View

This property is beautiful and the owners are very friendly and easy to get a hold of . The check in process was contact free and easy. The check out process on the other hand was a bit timely with the check off list and cleaning procedures and it all having to be done by 10am. We did feel a bit rushed. The view is amazing and the home is beautiful and clean. It has many separate areas so it can accomadate a large family and give everyone their own space. It is a quick drive to town for food or fun. We also enjoyed a pony ride with our girls just down the road. We used the kitchen and grill often and most everything you need to cook is available and in good order. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have a hot tub and more time to check out. The hot springs are in town but the group we were with wasnt comfortable going because of COVID and social distancing. Overall lovely home and We would come again!

Very comfortable home with well equipped kitchen. Overall, we enjoyed our three-week stay. The house has numerous security cameras on the exterior and two inside the garage. I could not tell whether any cameras were equipped with listening devices. Owners should assure future guests their conversations cannot be heard or recorded by owners or owners' security company and that there are no monitoring devices devices inside the house The two-story tall windows in the family room face due west. From mid-afternoon until sunset, sunglasses and a ball cap are a necessity in the family room. Otherwise, the view of the valley and distant mountains was quite nice. We particularly enjoyed watching the horses in the distant pastures. Lots of mule deer also. The deck was delightful after sunset. The propane grill on the deck was very nice, but the temp gauge needs replacement . Owners should advise guests in advance of their "no shoes inside policy". The dispenser on the coffee maker does not work properly. The elevation at the property is 7500 feet. Owners should promptly call when requested and reply to emails. We were left with the impression that owners were a bit unfriendly toward guests. Unfortunately with all the owners' rules and warnings, we never felt welcome or appreciated.

Annual Girls Trip

The cabin was beautiful, clean and very well appointed. The views from the decks were incredible, as were the stars at night. The pictures, as nice as they portray the property, do not do it justice. You must experience it in person!! As a group of seven women, we really enjoyed the four bedroom suites, each with a private bath (we made arrangements to add the "Lodge Suite" making 4 bedrooms). Our group was very comfortable in the home, which could probably handle 2-3 families without a problem. The loft looked like such a great place for kids! We enjoyed the local's favorite eateries and were close enough to include Silverton and Durango as destinations to enjoy during our stay. The owners, Hans and Norma, were absolutely great to deal with! They were responsive when we had questions and helpful when we were technically challenged. They also provided some great suggestions for what do enjoy locally! Because the owners stipulate no street shoes in the home, and asks that only slippers be worn in the house, to protect the floors, (which are beautiful real wood, well cared for, floors), the only suggestion we would make, to improve the property and a stay, would be to install some sort of attractive slip guard strips on the stairs. The Cabin is three stories, with a lot of stairs. We had a couple of close calls with "slipper slips", so an extra layer of slip protection would have been a help and a bonus. If we're ever back in the area we would definitely arrange to stay here again. Hans and Norma you did a beautiful and outstanding job creating and remodeling this jewel of a cabin, thanks for sharing it with us!!

Lovely, cozy home and perfect for two families

We've started an annual tradition of going to Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek over President's Day weekend. We found this house last year for that same weekend but it wasn't available so when we decided to return this year, I booked it right away and we certainly weren't disappointed. We were two families totaling 9 people including three teenage girls who need some privacy and the house worked perfectly for us. The layout of the home is both cozy and spacious with at least one bedroom on each level and plenty of beds and bedrooms on the top floor. We used all four bedrooms and two beds in the loft, where there was still space for two more in the loft. You can tell the owners love their home and are very proud of it but are also kind enough to share it with others. It is very well maintained and has just about everything one needs for a very comfortable stay, so much so that we decided to eat in every night although originally we had planned to go out. It was simply too enjoyable to stay in after a day of skiing and enjoy the ambiance and good company. The location is convenient but remote enough to still feel like a cabin and the views across the snow covered fields are beautiful, definitely one of the better views we have enjoyed while in Pagosa. Wifi might be slow for some but worked just fine for our needs as we all tried to get away from work as much as possible. We would love to return to this property. The owners are very, very responsive and the check-in/check out instructions are very clear and thorough. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, comfortable cabin perfect for multiple famlies

We traveled to Pagosa Springs with our family of 5 and my brother and sister-in-law and their son- 8 total. We had room for at least another family or two. The cabin is decorated very nicely, but still suitable for our toddlers (so we didn't feel like we had to move a bunch of breakable items, etc). Hans & Norma have it stocked with family games that the kids enjoyed playing when we got back from the springs each day. We lost count of how many deer we spotted. In the early evenings, we watched them from the porch grazing all around the cabin. There were two minor issues when we stayed. There was some sort of leak from the third floor stand-up shower. When I was showering, water began leaking into the kitchen below. We cleaned it up... and let Hans & Norma know. Fortunately, there were 3 other full baths so it was not an inconvenience to not use that one for the remainder of our stay. The day after we arrived, a man came to pressure wash the house. We were able to time it out so that our 2-year-old was not napping during that time. That worked out because it was quite loud. We realize that the house has to be cleaned sometime, so we understood. All in all, we would definitely go back. The house is lovely... and the porch is amazing just to relax in the evening or have your dinner outside on the deck. Thank you Hans & Norma!

Beautiful home!

There were eleven of our family members, including the grandchildren who stayed for a week. The house and accommodations were more than adequate for the three families. The home is arranged well and is extremely comfortable. We were close to many family activities, including skiing at Wolf Creek. We were sorry there was not more snow in Pagosa Springs. The home and setting would have been striking in the snow. But we had a wonderful winter vacation and family time!
