Lovely Trip
This house has the most amazing views of the lake! We all enjoyed sitting on the expansive porch surrounded by flowers and hummingbirds. Very peaceful. My grandkids enjoyed tubing every day behind the boat, jumping off rocks, and we found a rope swing further down the lake for them to swing out into the water. They had a blast! We took 2 excursions off property to Sliding Rock and Rose Creek Mines. The boat ride from the house to the marina dock is just a short 2 minute ride where you park your car. Very easy! Ted was a great host and very helpful! Would love to come back next year as this place was awesome!!

Amazing getaway!!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bear Lake. Ted is a wonderful, responsive host who has thought of everything in his well-cared for luxury lakefront home. Our family enjoyed the paddle boards, kayaks, tubing on the boat, swimming from the dock and beach, and lazy afternoons on the enormous, flower-filled deck. We didn’t use our car the entire time — we spent all day on the lake and cooked all our meals in the well-appointed kitchen. The solar powered system and cistern water were easy to use and had us happy and comfortable each day. Our family had a blast — such a great property and experience.

A very special property
We had an amazing time at this wonderful lakeside property. We enjoyed our evenings on the incredible deck with a roaring fire, visits by many hummingbirds, and of course our time on the lake. Our pups had a great time too, swimming and fetching ball from the beach area was their favorite activity!

Amazing Family Vacation
This location was perfect for a vacation that was a healthy blend of adventure and peaceful relaxation. The lake was fun to traverse on the pontoon and there are several waterfalls and hiking trails that can be accessed for the adventurous ones in the family. Every comfort is provided and the owners have created luxurious accommodations that have everything that you would need to make your vacation complete. We would most definitely stay here again.

Spectacular Relaxation Property
This property is exactly as described. Being off grid had absolutely no drawbacks even though we had rain for 3 days.. there was never a lack of power. The design of the home is very appealing to anyone. Modern yet cozy. Plan on total relaxation and fresh air. Bird watching, boating and just sitting out on one of the perfect outdoor spaces (there are several) and/ or building a beautiful fire to pass the time. The pontoon boat and the ranger ATV were favorites of my husband.. Bed very comfortable and master shower great. Kitchen has everything you need.. hope to come back.

A perfect house on a perfect lake with a perfect host! Our group of five had a phenomenal week at Little Bear Lodge. The lake provided so much fun in the form kayaking, boating, and tubing during the day, as well as quiet and serene evenings for rest and relaxation. We couldn't imagine a better vacation or more thoughtful host. We cannot wait to return. Thank you, Ted!

Paradise
Bear Lake is an incredibly scenic location, and Ted has one of the best spots on the lake. Every room has a beautiful view. We found it to be the perfect place to truly escape from it all. We also brought our yellow lab along with us, and I'm fairly certain it was the best weekend of her life. We all enjoyed swimming, boating, sitting on the docks, and a wonderful hike to the gorgeous waterfall that's just a short hike away. Can't wait to visit again!

Magic
Captain Ted was an amazing host. From showing us everything we needed to know about living in a sustainable home, to how to operate the pontoon, to leaving us with a basket of wine and goodies - we really felt special and new this was going to be a special trip. The home is even more beautiful than in pictures. Everything you could need or want is onsite - from chopped firewood to a coffee grinder. We used the pontoon everyday and took out the canoe, kayak and stand up paddle boards. Our favorite part of the day was our daily spin around the lake in the pontoon. In late fall the lake was all ours. We spent the majority of our time outside on the lavish wrap around deck. The outdoor fireplace was always on. Wine, a book, some music and a warm blanket made the deck perfection. Our pup also enjoyed lazy days laying outside. We can’t wait to return.

Leaf peepers dream!
This place is an absolute dream. The pictures do not do it justice. Capt Ted was gracious enough to meet us at the dock and and help us get acclimated to the property. We took advantage of the kayaks and pontoon boat exploring the lake and waterfalls during the day and enjoying the expansive deck in the evenings. We truly enjoyed this little slice of heaven and hope we have the opportunity to visit again.

Off the Grid LUXURY, One of a Kind Experience, don’t hesitate to book!
On a bright autumn day, our group of 4 friends from college (back in the day) gathered for a safe visit at the boat dock. We followed directions which were easy, but one wrong turn and you could be very frustrated, so be sure you are on the bear lake public access road, not Bear Lake Reserve road. Then Captain Ted came right on time to pick us up. He was so friendly and hospitable from minute 1. We packed for 4 weeks, not 4 days, but he helped us get all of our gear (i.e. food and beverages) to the “island”, and up the hill on the atv. The pictures are accurate, it is stunning. The views all around are so private and so bountiful in its setting, we all were mesmerized for the 3 lucky days we were on property. We did not leave the entire time, no reason, though it would have been easy if you needed to get to a small grocery/gas station about 10 minutes from the parking lot at the boat ramp. The kitchen was ample, the living space comfortable, the bedrooms - wow the views out the window at night and during the day, I can’t even explain. The bathrooms were great, cleanliness fantastic, it was just spot on. But the highlight was taking the pontoon out literally for six hours at a time, basking in the solitude of the lake, fishing (not catching....lol) in the silence only interrupted by our own laughter, conversations, and the pop of the next beverage can. We read on the boat, snoozed on the boat, tooled around to music, we did not want the days to end. The sunshine made us comfortable all day even when in the 50’s, it was not cold as the mountains protected us from the breeze. We did hike to the waterfall and it was spectacular, though NOT easy. Some bouldering and climbing up roots and rocks required, sure footed is necessary, probably too hard/dangerous for kids under ten. You can see that waterfall and a couple of others from the lake too. Our only request would be to add a table for 4 inside since our nights were too chilly to eat from the beautiful deck which likely would gorgeous the other open months of the year. Ted, thank you for sharing your amazing creation (he did design and build it, WOW). We didn’t know it at the time, but this literally filled our souls during this difficult year. Blessed to find this gem and encourage others, do NOT hesitate to book!

Beautiful!
We loved our stay at Island Lodge. Capt. Ted is awesome - he met us at the dock, gave us a great debrief, and was super responsive regarding all of our questions. We had a lovely welcome basket waiting with local specialities and there was firewood prepped and waiting. The house is amazing - the pictures don't do it justice. Nearly every room in the house has a great lake view and the wrap around porch is where we spent all of our time when not on the water next to the huge outdoor fireplace. In addition, the house is well stocked with basic spices, condiments, cleaning supplies, extra towels, etc. which is super nice that you don't have bring those with you like at a lot of rentals. We spent the mornings paddle boarding (provided) or on the boat. The lake is a nice size, easy to navigate, and not crowded. It's really cool being on the island! Highly recommend and Capt. Ted is a great host!
