Our cabin's unique round design creates an amazing wood structure with cupola windows at the top for lots of light. All natural beams are visible up to the ceiling! It is a rustic cabin - not fancy or modern if that's what you want but very comfortable with its unique structure and cozy cabin feel. There are two sets of about 12 stairs to the entryway so this allows our great views! The kitchen is not large but does have Great Lake views while you are cooking.
Meeks Bay Resort has an amazing beautiful white sand beach that is gorgeous with crystal clear water for swimming! There is a lodge, small store and snack bar and for lunch when resort is open. You can still walk in during winter to see the lake and it is very beautiful and peaceful.
In any case...West Shore is the BEST shore!
There is a fully stocked local market within 2 miles of the house.
We know that once you stay at this special place we love, you will want to come back!

Beautiful views in a peaceful part of Tahoe

We loved the views of the lake from the property from both levels. The host was very communicative and left great instructions for how to get the most enjoyment out of our time there. The part of Tahoe it is in is very peaceful and we really enjoyed not being on the busy side of the lake. Everything we needed was well stocked and did I mention the views! The kids also enjoyed the pool table which added mom and dads peace. Thanks for sharing your property with us!

Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at this wonderful house overlooking Lake Tahoe. Close to hikes and gorgeous landscapes. Plenty of sleeping and relaxing space for our group -- the kitchen gets crowded with more than 2 or 3. Just a great place to relax and unwind.

Unique mountainside cabin with incredible views

This property is on the west shore centrally located between South Lake Tahoe and Truckee. It’s a 20 minute drive in each direction. The property is beautiful and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. Precautions have been taken at the property to address any bear concerns. We did see a sow and cubs less than 100 yards from the property while staying there. I don’t think the pics on VRBO do this place justice. Really, really nice cabin vibe in the mountains at this property with all the modern amenities. This property is built on a steep grade so there are stairs from the parking area to the house and stairs from level 1 to level 2. If you have difficulty with stairs, this property could be a challenge for you. For us it was great!

Amazing all the way around

What an amazing house! The views were insane. The house is really nicely spaced out. Perfect for a few couples to enjoy and still have some privacy. Had everything we needed to enjoy a much needed get away. Tahoe is gorgeous. The property owners were super communicative and easy going. Cannot wait to book another stay.

Time Away With Family

Our family took a trip to Tahoe to have a Celebration of Life event for my Father. This property was wonderful, well kept, in a great location (can easily see the lake from deck), and had all the amenities needed to enjoy our stay. The property owners (Linda & Robert) were quick to respond and provided all the detail needed to make the trip easy. We would stay here again if we come back to Tahoe.

Wonderful stay

Loved staying here—location was great, away from the busy-ness of South Lake Tahoe but close to great hiking in state parks and right next to the lake. The house is very comfortable & has beautiful views from the decks and from the interiors, too. The owner was very helpful and responsive. We’ll definitely stay here again!

Stunning and Serene

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful spot. It had truly one of the most gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe. The rental is extremely well equipped with much attention to detail. The beds are cozy and the setting peaceful. My family enjoyed barbecuing, playing pool and board games and watching a movie together. Yoga on the deck watching the lake in the early morning was the best. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Peace of mind with a view!

We had such a lovely stay at Linda & Robert's property in Meek's Bay. Tahoma is a smaller, quieter town that is 15-20 minutes from South Lake Tahoe and about 20+ to Tahoe City. We enjoyed this serene part of the lake with hiking trails nearby, a beach you can walk to with kayak/paddleboard rentals, and a bike path across the street that you can take all the way to Tahoe City and beyond. The house itself was very comfortable and plenty of room for the four adults staying. A very unique layout - a dodecagon I learned! (12-sided polygon), with a small kitchen at the center that is newly remodeled and had everything we needed to make fresh-ground coffee and breakfast to enjoy on the lovely deck in the morning. The view from here is wonderful and where we spent most of our time. So much so that we regret not getting to play a round of pool, but hope to return and make good on that one day! Linda was wonderful to work with and very communicative. We felt very welcome and would absolutely recommend this property and location.

Awesome view and cozy cabin

This house was exactly what we were looking for in a quiet weekend away. I think it looks better than the pictures. The view is absolutely incredible. Unique round house with lots of exposed wood and beams. Two wood burning stoves make for a very cozy time. The kitchen is a little dated and small, but is very well equipped. Very nice pans and stove with lots of spices and cooking supplies available. Linda was very easy to get a hold of with any questions. Definitely would stay again!

Breathtaking and dependable

Our stay started in the middle of one of the greatest Tahoe snowstorms and Linda was on top of all the things and got us to the cabin at the first possible instant. Not only she did not quit on us because of snowstorm, she continuously gave updates on the state of the neighborhood roads and ensured that the cabin is ready for arrival despite the incredible weather setbacks. She also was above and beyond with the smaller requests we had while staying in the cabin. I've used VRBO couple dozen times and this was one of the best examples of ownership I've seen, you'd never get it from any sort of enterprise-owned properties. As far as cabin goes, I think pictures don't make it right justice - it's huge, views are incredible, kitchen is stocked with everything you'd ever need. Appliances are new (looked brand new in fact), bathroom finishes are very nice too. There are two stoves and a lot of firewood to keep it warm. The cabin has a unique round design, definitely unusual and interesting to experience, there are no square rooms which seem to create more space inside. Plenty of boardgames for the evenings, 5 min drive to Homewood ski base, lots of forest in the back. I think it backs to some sort of wilderness area, was difficult to tell because of snow. It had plenty of hills to build a sledding slides. Did I mention the views?

Wonderful stay with just a couple of small issues

Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The unique circular design of the house and the high wood ceiling on the second floor make it an interesting stay. The four of us enjoyed just chillin’ on the deck, playing games at the table, and playing pool (the pool table was an excellent amenity). I enjoyed making breakfast in the kitchen and then serving them on the attached bar. Being near the beach and having the beach chairs supplied were also very nice. Also, we were allowed on the property earlier than expected, which was a big help. There was a problem with four spiders in one of the lower bedrooms. Also, the mattress was very concave and sunk it the middle, making it very uncomfortable. My son and his girlfriend moved to the second bedroom on the next night and there were no problems. We didn’t report it since we only were staying two nights so it wasn’t a big bother. We were also surprised at the number of instructions and notices, particularly the one requiring us to start a load of laundry. However, this was our first experience with Vrbo or anything service like that, so perhaps these instructions are a normal thing. However, we had a wonderful stay in a lovely house and would stay again or recommend it to others.

Wonderful stay in this Meek's Bay area house!

Our family of four, including 2 teens, had a wonderful 6 nights here. The location was the best with the ability to walk to Meek's Bay just 0.25 miles (even though parking pass if provided) and swim there almost daily after hiking, biking, or sight-seeing. The place is very clean with a well-stocked kitchen that we utilized to cook nice dinners several nights and enjoy eating them with the best view ever on the deck! Linda is a very communicative host and made sure our visit was enjoyable. We will definitely refer this place and come back again.

Wonderful house in a great location with easy access to the lake and Desolation Wilderness hiking.

We all really enjoyed our stay. The angles to the house structure give the rooms a unique feel and offer great views of the lake. Very clean with all accommodations. The free permit to Meeks Bay Resort allows for a nice walk or drive down to the beach in a beautiful setting. The lighting in the master bath and kitchen sink areas could be improved, but this is a minor issue.

About the host

Hosted by Linda and Robert Tolin

Host profile image
I grew up in Los Gatos then went to UCSD, then UCSB and followed this by going to graduate school at Cal Poly and then stayed in SLO. I met my husband at masters swimming at the local swim center and the rest is history. My dad built a cabin and our family was fortunate enough to vacation there when it wasn't being rented. I grew up going to Tahoe in the summer at Meeks Bay and winter and have loved vacationing there ever since. I now like to share that same love for Tahoe with my husband and two kids. I think Lake Tahoe has a very unique calming and serene appeal that will continue to entice our family and many more for generations to come and enjoy it's natural beauty!

Why they chose this property

This property is in the same area as the family cabin that I grew up vacationing at, so the location has a special place in the my heart. We were drawn to the place because it backs up to the forest and has a unique wood and rustic style on the inside with great views. It is on an upper road so it is further away from noise caused from the traffic areas close to 89 in the busy seasons; it's generally very quiet! You can even hike around the neighborhood and back on some trails forest land. You may want to look at one story cabins if you have very young children (due to two sets of stairs to enter the house and use of the wood stoves for heat.) The benefit of the stairs is the beautiful views from the inside living room and kitchen of the lake!

What makes this property unique

Beautiful Meeks Bay Resort and nice sand beach is just a short walk (10-15 mins) or drive and the stunningly famous Emerald Bay is just 15 minutes away. Homewood Mountain Resort is just 4 miles away. It's feels like you are really getting away from it all but you can still dine at some great spots to eat and go into Tahoe City just a short drive away. When you visit our cabin, you will feel refreshed and totally relaxed in the high mountain scenery with the rustic decor and fresh pine air. In the summer you are very close to Ed Z'Burg State Park (Sugar Pine State Park), and also can easily drive to Bliss State Park Beach or Emerald Bay.
