The Gathering House is a spacious home ideal for get-togethers with family, friends or your creative group. Arriving at The Gathering House your body, mind and soul immediately unwind and relax. Letting go of the busyness of life you are warmly welcomed into the arms of this beautiful home and town. Thoughtfully decorated in rich earthy tones, the space naturally grounds you allowing you to slip effortlessly into holiday mode.

Inside
With 3 spacious oversized bedrooms, there's plenty of room for all 6 guests to relax and spread out. The bay window reading nook, cosy couches and two verandahs provide endless spaces to retreat to or cuddle up on, while the wood fire warms the heart as much as the space. There is one reverse cycle unit to ensure temperatures are always comfortable and heaters in every room.

The generous sized kitchen allows for everyone to pitch in and help for the best shared cooking and dining experience. If cooking isn't you're thing, we are located just 350m from the Forrest Brewery and general store. You really are in the heart of Forrest here.

With two clean and spacious bathrooms there will be no arguing over who gets the first both can or why not enjoy a deep warm bath after a big day of riding. All towels, hand towels and face washers are provided, as well as natural body wash.

The house is tastefully decorated in a mid century modern aesthetic with warm earthy colours and textures. Natural light saturates every room of the house, bringing the outdoors in. This truly is the perfect place to call home for a few days.

Outside
The grounds are home to bucket loads of wild life, including a pair of black cocktoos and a loveable and curious echidna. Depending on the time of year you visit, wondering around the property you will find mature fruit trees and secluded grassy areas for relaxing or watching the kids play. The space is fully fenced so your pet is safe outdoors. The land is clean and pesticide free.

Parking is plentiful with undercover and outdoor options available.

Beautiful spot

The house is located in a great spot. Easy, quick walking distance to the Brewery and town centre, but also feels quite remote and private. The back garden is secure and beautiful. We wish the weather had been brighter so we could have enjoyed the garden more. Communication with the host was friendly and efficient. House had everything we needed. Thank you.

Very enjoyable

Only one fault and not a big one was the amount of dead flies on the floor when we arrived and the rear door mat had disintegrated into soil and was getting trodden through the house FYI. Had a fantastic time in your beautiful house and would highly recommend it thank you

Beautiful

What a beautiful property! We had such a relaxing time! The house is surrounded by trees, there were stunning roses in the garden and we even had a koala come to visit! It is a short walk to the delicious brewery and chocolate cafe. Lake Elizabeth is close by and absolutely stunning. We will definitely be back!

Great relaxing holiday

Enjoyed our stay enormously. Forrest Otway Escape is a comfortable stay, in a wonderful small village. We enjoyed hot showers, very comfy beds, great open fire, and a lovely garden to play in. Our dog loved it too. Lake Elizabeth a real hidden gem.

Beautiful, tranquil home set in quiet and stunning location

Beautiful property, we would thoroughly recommend. There was ample space for our family of six. The property was spotlessly clean and tidy with everything and more you could possibly need. There were so many different games and movies and toys for the children to keep themselves buy with. The garden was a treasure, in the night we listened to the sounds of a koala in one of the trees! The location of the property is ideal for those looking for a very quiet and peaceful bolthole. The local cafe, shop and brewery were all excellent and had very friendly and welcoming staff. The surrounding forests and bush walks were beautiful, our favourite Lake Elizabeth. We shall definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you!

Gorgeous Home wit

We loved our stay. The house is well equipped and beautifully presented. Huge spaces/ comfortable beds and a lovely deep bath all helped us have a wonderful weekend away. Forrest is a great area to explore and the bric a brac shop is well worth a visit.

Fabulous Forrest Escape

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would definitely be back again! The property is spacious, clean and extremely comfortable (it even has two bathrooms with a shower in each). Gorgeous kitchen, selection of DVDs, awesome Coonara heater plus split system. The little touches were also appreciated... spare hairdryer, bathroom toiletries, pantry basics etc. so not a worry if you were to forget something! During our stay a Kookaburra came to visit us in the backyard and there are lots of parrots around too. The home is a one minute walk to the Forrest Brewery and General Store... well located yet you feel as though you are away from it all. And Attalia the host is wonderful to deal with. Would highly recommend this place for an Otway getaway!

An absolutely beautiful home in the most magnificent setting

The Forrest Otway Escape is the perfect home away from home. It's very well appointed with a wonderful kitchen and generous pantry supplies. The house itself is magnificent - high ceiling, quality fittings, comfortable beds and soooo much space. We were a group of six adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We'll be back, for sure.

A lovely, comfortable home in a beautiful part of the world

We really enjoyed our stay a the Forrest Otway Escape. The house is comfortable, roomy and very well equipped. Although the reverse-cycle heaters kept us warm during the cold winter days, it was great to have a lovely fireplace which added to the ambiance and provided extra heat in the evenings. We can recommend breakfast at the Forrest Brewing Company and morning or afternoon tea at the Platypi Chocolate cafe before or after a walk in the bush. Finally, Attalia was a wonderful host, who made sure that all our needs were met. A truly memorable holiday!

Gorgeous getaway

This property was spacious and well kept. Our group of four were very comfortable and we could have easily fit 1 - 2 more people in. Everything was clean and in good condition, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking and enjoying meals, a glass of wine or coffee with friends and family. The property is well heated and very nice and cosy once you get the fire going. There are also two other heaters which made it even easier. It is within walking distance of the general store, brewery and chocolatier. We hope to return in the future and have a BBQ on the deck in the warmer months. Thanks for having us!

A lover of both the country and ocean I spend my time between two of the most beautiful locations in the world. A mum of 2 gorgeous girls and a beautiful border collie dog I made my dream come true of owning a beautiful home in Forrest in 2017. After reading the children’s book “on my farm” something stirred inside me and the desire to connect with a country community and give my kiddies a taste of country life was borne. Creating a lovely balance of ocean and country has been very nourishing for myself and family and it’s been a delight to share this with others through Airbnb.

Why they chose this property

For me Forrest is one of the most beaufitul and undiscovered places in Victoria. There's so much to do in this little town. I came to the area over 15 years ago and fell in love with Lake Elizabeth the first time I saw it, there is something truly magical about the place. In 2017 I was lucky enough to buy this property and make a dream come true.

What makes this property unique

People that come to The Gathering House say it's so peaceful, relaxing and feels like home. As you arrive at the property it's set back off the road and straight away you get a sense of seclusion and serenity. What drew me to the property was how solid and safe it feels and I love that no matter what window you look out of you see beautiful tall trees and it really does feel like an escape.
