Complete quiet
I stayed for 2 nights and it felt like completely tranquil and remote even though we where so close to all the great cafe and activity options of the Byron bay hinterland. The house was large and warm with beautiful views. There was heaps in the kitchen to cook with. I would certainly visit again.

A lovely cottage on a beautiful hilltop, with perfect tranquility to relax and unwind. The view is mesmerising, from watching birds in the large tree each morning from the deck, or the canopy of stars at night. Definitely recommended!

Perfect
This is without doubt the best property we have stayed at. So much to love. The area is awesome. Like most Australians we tend to go to the coastal fringe. Only 30 min from Byron (but preferably Brunswick), you have great access to the coastline. But the real magic lies in the hills. There are so many gorgeous villages within a 30 minute drive. We spent days weaving our way through the area, visiting cafes / restaurants (Doma is sensational, with breakfast the highlight). The local swimming holes provide a cooling and calming change to the hectic beaches. Our favourite was on the property. The views are extraordinary, with a mix of Byron hinterland rolling hills. Looking to the North you can view the steeper escapements of the Tweed hinterland. The cottage is very well appointed and has all the trimmings of a "lived in" home. The sunroom is stunning and so easy to relax in. The cream are the hosts - Peri and Nick. Whilst careful to respect the privacy of their guests, we found ourselves looking forward to an afternoon catch up by the pool. Discussing the days events, planning for the next and generally being completely absorbed in their stories of the area and life experiences. Till next time.....

Fabulous stay
We had a great time at Mara Joy in Federal. Amazing windy (safe) roads in the hinterlands on the way in were fun and so easy to find the cottage. We had a family of 5 stay and there was so much room. The cottage had everything we needed and we enjoyed beautiful days of sunshine but even on a few days of rain we enjoyed lazy days on the deck watching the view. The pool was warm and the kids had tons of fun in it. Nick & Perina were such lovely hosts and we enjoyed hearing their stories. Had to book all dinners in Byron and it was about a 30 min drive in. We’ll definitely be back!

Gorgeous hinterland family retreat
This cottage is really special. Quite spacious and everything you need for a family of four. The view from the deck and swimming pool is stunning. Easy to get to Byron and surrounding beaches but the farm is so beautiful we had trouble leaving most days. Hope we can come back one day.

Wonderful find
One of the best value places we have ever stayed. Extremely comfortable (and large) space. Pool was spectacular, as was the property. Federal’s Main Street is tiny but great. More than anything, the property’s hosts were lovely people who had imbued their neck of the woods with magic.

Wonderful farm stay in Federal
We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The hosts were very welcoming and the cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. The view is amazing and the Federal area is beautiful. Lovely Japanese restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and good store for local supplies too - both 5 minutes drive away. Thank you Perina :)

Why they chose this property

The property is extremely quiet and devoid of traffic and people - unless invited.
