House was comfortable, cool during very hot July days. Sorry that dish washer not working, with 9 people, but couldn't be fixed for 3 weeks. We found distance from beach a bit too far, but beach itself lovely and private. The extra small bedroom should have a door for more privacy. Otherwise bedrooms were comfortable.
Otherwise,
Newer property with nice layout and private access to beach. Walk to the beach was a little long and one extra sign at the intersection near the private road would have been helpful. The decking on the second half of the walk was super helpful and appreciated. Paddle boards were a nice addition that the owner provided. Open layout was great for our group. Beds were comfortable. Nice to have ceiling fans in all bedrooms including the den area. Loose faucet in master bathroom with small leak under the one sink. Lovely property. Our 3 year old granddaughter asked if we could just offer more money and buy it! 😂 Having to find a place for our trash on Sunday morning checkout was challenging. Wish we could have had the option to leave it for housekeeping in the cans outside instead of having to find a place to drive it. Well stocked kitchen and we were able to cook plenty of different meals. One suggestion would be a 13x9 baking dish would be a nice addition for the next renters. We will give this consideration for a future vacation. The outdoor shower was extremely helpful for our large group.
Everything was great with the exception of towels and cleaning products, The master bedroom had only 1 towel per person, this required constant washing
We were a group 8 family members. We found the house well stocked and appreciated all the items in the kitchen. The walk to the beach was about 0.3 miles down hill. Most of the trail was covered in pine straw which made it a little slick. The beach was deserted! Very private! We did find you could drive down one of the side roads and unload your stuff. That cut about half the distance. When we were there the sand fleas were bad. Actually, lots of bugs in the forest ;) even with the bugs we loved sitting on the porches!
One call out the room with the futon doesnt have a door and with the open floorplan downstairs, it made sleeping in that room a little tough. But that's what earplugs are for.
Only other note, we would have like extra pillow cases. There two pillows on most bed and extras in the closet but no pillowcase.
Cape Charles is a cute town! Enjoyed the brewery, mini golf, ice cream, and A1 seafood market!
Our plan was for family time and some local historical sites. Cape Charles is a friendly little beach town. The house was well equipped and management was responsive. Kids enjoyed fuseball, paddleboard and boogie boards.Loved the private beach and pool. Only downside was the hill to beach and pool when you are taking all your stuff. We did leave most by boardwalk with kayak. If you plan to go back and forth you may want an EZPass as tolls are steep across CBBT.
Overall good time!
We had a group of 7 adults and 4 kids between ages 2 and 8. The home was perfect and fit us comfortably. The home was clean. I would definitely plan to bring some bug spray bc we did get bit on the short walk to the beach. The house was in a great location with a great private beach. It was central to many good outings.
The 180 was the perfect place for a quiet and peaceful beach vacation with our family. The house was roomy, beds comfortable and overall a very nice house to enjoy family togetherness. There were plenty of beach toys to use, a kayak and paddle board were a welcome surprise. The path to the beach was not long, it was peaceful, quick and easy to get to and we had the beach to ourselves! I gave 3 stars for cleanliness because the stove had stuck on food on the burners and when I preheated the oven for the first time, smoke billowed out from a previous spill causing the smoke alarms to scream at us. The outdoor grill was so messy that we had to purchase grill cleaner and a wire brush. There was also small pieces of trash outside on the ground and on the deck (like paper, wrappers and food). There was hair in the bathroom sink and a hair tie in the shower. But the property was so nice that we were able to get past this after a little cleaning up ourselves. We did enjoy this place!
Wonderful house with plenty of room. The selection of books in this house was wonderful. There was also a great selection of sand toys, boogie boards, and even a kayak. The beds were very comfortable. Communication with the property manager was easy. Some reviews mention slow internet, but there is high speed internet in this rental and we did not have any issues.
The only suggestions I would have make is to bring your own frying pan. The ones there have seen better days. The rest of the kitchen is well stocked.
Relaxing , enjoyable gathering place for family and especially wonderful for all the girl cousins to be together. Toys for the beach was great too. What was lacking were dish towels, serving dishes and place settings for 10-12 people. Very clean house but the cleaning crew only got there at 4 pm
The 180 is nestled in the trees just a stones throw away from the community pool, which we enjoyed tremendously.
The views from the living room windows were peaceful and serene. Our kids enjoyed inspecting the fairy garden outside which we thought was a special touch.
There was ample room for our two families to move around and still have our own space. The house had a good supply of beach gear and a kayak for use.
The A/C worked well and the house was decently clean. I did notice that sand and dirt had collected on the baseboards through out the house and there were some places in the master bathroom where some greasy/sticky finger prints were left behind from other renters. I'd recommend a deep clean but we still felt comfortable in the home.
The trip to the beach is a bit difficult with 4 children, 7 and under. There are several sections of the trail to the beach that have decking for easy walking. But the beginning of the trail is a bit steep with slippery pine needles under foot. It would be amazing to add a walkway through the entire thing! A beach cart would also be helpful as we ended up carrying everything out to the beach and then leaving our chairs and canopy there due to the distance, only taking them back to the house on the last day.
The beach itself was amazing once we arrived. The water was very warm and we found some sand dollars, a seahorse, and enjoyed watching the ghost crabs scury about.
Check in was a breeze. Check out was also very easy aside from needing to drop our trash off at the container site before we headed home.
We made some great memories!
Beautiful home and private beach. We loved seeing hummingbirds on the porch and dolphins in the bay. They were short on towels, had no beach towels or a hairdryer. Multiple keys for the property would've been helpful as would a 12 cup coffee maker. Small details but loved our stay overall.
We absolutely loved the house and the fact that both the Pool and Beach were within walking distance. The property did show that there was a Pinball machine - there was one, but it does not work. If I had only one suggestion, it would be to put a guardrail going down on the left side of the driveway at the point where the gravel meets the asphalt. It is a totally BLIND space that you cannot see if your car is following the driveway, and there is a definite curve in that space. Terrifying.
Found the property to be perfect for family vacation. Our three year old grandson loved the beach and calm water. Sons enjoyed kayaking. Loved the privacy! Would suggest a couple of items for your home to accommodate young families: crib, high chair, and rocker. All in all great vacation! Would come again…….
We had a wonderful stay! We had 3 generations of our family (3 years old to retirement age) and all had a wonderful time. The home is beautifully maintained and clean. It is a short walk to both the beach and community pool. The walking sticks made available in the home made it easier on our family member that needed some extra support on uneven terrain. We appreciated the pool access as it was a great way to take a break from the beach. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a quiet but fun vacation!
This house is perfect in every way. It was just a Short walk to the beach which was beautiful. We ate wonderful seafood and the sting Ray was delicious. A little sightseeing and then one person in our party got sick so we had to leave 2 days early. We would definitely rent it again!
My family enjoyed staying at The 180. My kids had a lovely time at the beach and the pool. It is a great location, with an extensive private beach like no other in the area. As some reviewers noted, the wifi was a little slow.
We loved our stay at the 180. We recommend this house to all. Very close to everything. Absolutely loved the secluded beach. It was nice having beach to ourselves without having anyone around. Absolutely wonderful experience. We had some internet issues on the first day but Chuck came over and offered us a hotspot right away from there on no issues. We had elderly parents and the beach was quite a hike for them but they had walking sticks available for their use. Thanks for sharing your wonderful beach home with us.
We stayed here with another family. House is ample in size, fit all 8 of us nicely. House is clean and modern. Kitchen is nicely appointed with appropriate pots/pans/utensils. The beach is a little bit of a walk but was clean, calm and shallow (perfect for little kids). Pinball machine wasn’t working (I let owner know so perhaps it is fixed now). Overall it was a great stay!
