An architect's masonry house,Anavyssos, Attica, with view to Aghios Nikolaos be
The two story villa is accessed either directly from Athens' Venizelos airport (about 25 min. driving time) or from Athens' Faliro/ Glyfada area, taking Sounio Ave. towards Cape Sounio. It is located at approx. 800 m from the beach, uphill, combining thus the beautiful view to the sea to the peace and quiet the relative distance from the tourist areas guarantees. It is conveniently placed, so as on the way to the beach you find the super market and the gas station and a little further away the taverns that offer fresh sea food and other delicacies. On Sounio Ave. about 1,5 km from the beach of Aghios Nikolaos, is the village of Palaia Fokea that offers all kinds of commodities and services. Continuing on Sounio Ave. you may drive to Cape Sounio with its spectacular ancient Greek Temple of Poseidon and onto the interesting old metallurgical hub of Lavrio.

The property is located at a hill overlooking Agios Nikolaos bay at Anavyssos. The view is really nice, and reaching amenities nearby and the beach is very easy and close. However, the house is really old and outdated. The lights are very weak and so is the water flow, and that makes the stay quite uncomfortable.
This is a beautifully designed home, almost hidden from the street under a wall of jasmine. The view is superb, the garden with the fig, olive and pistachio trees very peaceful, and the owner accommodating and friendly. The only thing missing was air conditioning, a must during the hot Attic summer.
Если вы хотите отдохнуть от шума, суеты - этот дом для вас.

Lovely property with view of the sea.
We rented this property to stay in the Anavyssos area in May. It was a lovely setting and the place was perfect for the needs of my wife and myself. We would definitely return.

About the host
Hosted by Antonis Zivas
I'm an architect and a photographer. Growing up, I've spent some good summers in the house with my parents and my sister. My father, an architect and university professor at the Polytecnic of Athens, finished building this house on 1980.
Why they chose this property
It has been the family's summer house, being only 50 km away from Athens. My father liked the view the beautiful hill slope offered and the close distance from the nearby sandy beach of Agios Nikolaos. He also liked the fact that in the same area other architects, friends of his, also chose to build their summer houses as well.
What makes this property unique
I love this house because it is built out of real masonry walls, a beautiful feature not encountered any more in modern housing projects. It offers a unique, natural feeling because of that, together with the extraordinary view out of its large first floor terrace. Beyond that, I love the ground level balcony because it opens out to the garden full of lemon and mimosa trees. Another thing I should mention is the recently added feature of extra insulation which, together with the roof ventilators, offers comfortable in-house temperatures.
