In town for medical conference
Clean, well kept, convenient location for walking during the day to gas lamp area. Would not walk at night.
Beautiful property with really all we needed!
I'd certainly stay again!
This was the most amazing stay I’ve ever had. The owners are so attentive to the Guests, and have the most amazing set up! Their level of customer service is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever experienced. Not to mention how gorgeous the interiors are, and the house itself. It’s a prime location and walking distance to DTSD. Very quite neighborhood as well. My stay was so amazing, I extended it and they were so accommodating to place me into another apartment home within the same building. You will not want to pass up an opportunity to stay here!

Home away from home
Cute, comfortable place to stay at in down town San Diego. Clean place the only thing I would say is the owner may need to spray for spiders, gnats, and flys more often. Not a deal breaker though. Next, is parking is not always easy to get if you are gone all day and come back late. The owner is quick to reply and very responsive. We didn't have any problems and really enjoyed our stay here. Would stay here again in the future. Love porch nice to enjoy our coffee early in the morning in the beautiful San Diego weather. I give this place a high 4-star rating.

Okay for what we needed
First off john was great, very accommodating and fast to respond to any questions we had. There were four adults and a toddler in our group. The place said two bedrooms which was not accurate. It was a one bedroom with a small loft above (within) it. We went for a wedding so we weren't there much and it worked out for our stay. It was close to everything which was great however it wasn't in the nicest part of town. Parking is on the street and for the most part we didn't have any problems finding a spot. The beach was a 10 min drive, gaslamp is a 5 min drive, and the zoo was 10-15 min. Very centralized.
Nice little find....could use some improvements but overall a great place
First of all let me say this unit suit our needs and overall an enjoyable find. There are many good qualities of this unit, with that being said there is room for some improvements to help others have an enjoyable stay. I emailed the owner before I submitted my review and the replay I got was very positive and they are working on making improvements. I would definitely stay here again if I am back in the area. John was a great guy who communicated very well and replied quickly when needed.
Overall the unit was clean.
Kitchen was well stocked with items most will need on a trip.
Nice breeze flows through the unit.
Nice touch to have the floor fan in the event it gets hot.
Available parking off street was nice, instead of paying high parking fees like some other types of places.
Clean linens.
Having an AC unit was nice.
Thank you for the complimentary quarters for laundry although we did not need it on this trip.
Thank you for the bottles of water as we got in late and did not have time to stop anywhere.
Appreciate the shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The dining set on the front porch was a great place to have dinner and enjoy the cool evenings.
Welcome information was wonderful.
Now to the improvements and items that needs to be noted.
The bed was hard and higher in the middle and had us pushed to the sides of the bed. It felt like there might be some kind of support in the middle, however this makes it a bit annoying for a couple.
The unit smelled of smoke, and seems some deodorizer may have been used to eliminate the smell.
Several of the blinds were not able to be pulled up because it did not have the pull strings to raise them making it a pain to open the windows.
The refrigerator was quite loud and was constantly running it seems.
The sofa sleeper was quite uncomfortable to sit on. You would sink in and when you got up you could hear the springs in the sleeper bed frame. For this reason we did not even want our daughter sleeping in it as sitting on it alone was not comfortable, so she had to sleep in the loft, which was cute but not ideal for my girlfriend and I.
The neighbor on the bedroom side had dogs that were barking til late. We could still hear it with the windows closed and were not able to enjoy the natural air flow.
It looks like the shower has an issue with water coming out as there seemed to have been possibly mold stains on the baseboard near the shower by the door.
The unit itself was very nice. It was clean and in a good location. It’s a mile or a little more walk to petco park and the Gaslamp Quarter. We walked almost exclusively and never had any issues. There are some homeless folks in the area. Never felt unsafe or bothered. I would stay here again, without a doubt!

It was a perfect location. The place was pretty as well but it does have an old wood or old house smell if that makes sense. The space was perfect made me feel like I lived in California. I would book again.
Pros: Full equipped place - stuff for the beach, fully stocked kitchen. Backyard was awesome, complete with an orange tree. $10 uber ride to downtown. Easy communication and check in.
Cons:
Beds were pretty worn down (sagging in the middle) and the sheets were pretty polyester-y. The neighbourhood is okay but I probably wouldn't want to stay there alone. Bathroom floor needs a good scrub and the BBQ was gross (not the owner's fault, previous user just didn't clean it).
Our family loved our stay here. It was perfect for our family of 4. We had what we needed & anytime we had a question and reached out, our host answered immediately. We had the opportunity to use the grill & hang out relaxing on the lounge chairs. My husband enjoyed fresh oranges off the orange tree. Other people staying in the surrounding apartments were quiet & it was a very nice stay. We'll be back!
Clean and as exactly as depicted on VRBO listing. In a nice central location for experiencing all San Diego has to offer. All the basic amenities. The host provided thorough and clear instructions and was very available, easy, and pleasant to communicate with.
This is an impeccably clean, comfortable apartment. Host is kind and welcoming; communicated every step of the way. Apartment is conveniently located to Old Town, Zoo, and grocery. I'll stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay. John, the owner/manager was very easy to work with, great communication at all steps in the process. We would definitely stay again. Everything was as advertised which is super helpful.
The property was nice, we were there a full week so we got used to calling this place home. It's out of downtown but it's super easy to get downtown or hop on a highway and get up to La Jolla. Check-in was super easy and John was always available if we needed something.
My 2 friends, whom I've known for over 50 years decided to go to San Diego One of my friends, Cathy, had never been to California. Her husband recently passed in May and we thought this might help her with her grief. Well, the 3 of us had a marvelous time. The place we rented was just great, it had every amenity we could have asked for We are just so thankful to John for a beautiful few days, Thanks, Alyson
Can't say enough about this rental, John, and sweetest feline ambassador of the neighborhood!! This location, ideal. The unit, BLOWN AWAY!! The property, AWESOME!
We had so much fun on our trip. This unit's location is just minutes from everything you'll want to do in San Diego. Gaslamp downtown: 2 minutes away. Old town: 2 minutes away. Balboa Park: 2 minutes away. You get the idea. This unit is at the heart of what makes San Diego a top vacation destination.
John has absolutely thought of everything when it comes to ensuring your needs are met. We've stayed at VRBO rentals all over San Diego, including two locations at the beach. and i have to say this unit is, hands down my favorite. I will be seeking out this location next summer because it really was one of our best trips in years!!
Thank you John and cool neighborhood ambassador cat!!
We really enjoyed our stay. Due to Covid19 we were house bound but was able to spend the week with my son who is in the Navy and had a serious surgery. The owner was on hand when needed and accommodated my family. I would love to stay again if we were to visit San Diego again.
We stayed in SD while visiting my nephew who is stationed at Camp Pendleton. The place was immaculate and fully stocked with towels, shampoo, and, toilet paper, and body wash. The bed was large and super comfortable. It's a good place for small families. I would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by John Reardon
I grew up in Northampton Massachusetts, a town with countless beautiful old homes and lots of woods. I spent countless days in my youth building tree forts never knowing that those 2 dynamics would intersect at this point. Upon arriving in San Diego with an interest in building and purchasing real estate, I became immediately interested in the largely neglected Victorian buildings in this area of town. This property became a labor of love for me many years ago and I hope that legacy will be carried forward by my 3 sons. My wife if Japanese, so our family often divides our time between 2 very different worlds, both with much to offer.
Why they chose this property
It is our hope that our guests will appreciate the attention to detail and uniqueness of design that has been incorporated into every aspect of this property.
What makes this property unique
This property is strategically located close to most of San Diego's most popular destinations. It's central location and proximity to a newly revitalized downtown, airport, beaches and parks affords our guests the best possible experience while visiting San Diego.
