Lakeside Cabin! View of lake from deck, firepit seating, quiet property!

This property is located on 2 and a half acres with one hundred & fifty feet of lake shore. The cabin sits a mere 600 feet from the lake! The covered porch of the cabin is connected to a wrap-around deck over-looking the yard and lake.

This is an open floor plan with the main bath room & master bedroom (queen sized bed) located on the first floor. There is a half bathroom located on the 2nd floor loft which contains another queen sized bed and two twin beds. The loft also has a sitting area over-looking the yard and lake shore.

The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite covered island making it the perfect environment for cooking and entertaining! Your guests will enjoy sitting at the island eating, playing games or participating in the cooking while other guests lounge in the dining area or living room enjoying the view!

Hope you found the cabin in good order after our departure on Saturday, 7/29/2023. The cabin was ideal for our stay with the loft providing an area that the Grandkids could call their own. A few comments that hopefully you will find helpful relative to the cabin rental. Not all of the outlets were functional. There were no instructions for the TV. Also think some of the batteries in the remotes needed replacing. We do understand that if the TV’s worked, streaming was needed. The lighting in the master was lacking – one bed lamp did not work (missing knob) and the bulb in the overhead fan did not work. The grill was not used. It appeared that it was somewhat disassembled. The access to the lake and the water off the dock was very disappointing. Honestly if we had known the condition the area was in we would not have rented the cabin. We had two teenagers and 2 – 10 year olds all are avid swimmers and one is a kayak enthusiast. Needless to say somewhat disappointed. Not sure why having a waterfront cabin with no clear accessibility or view of the water. Now I understand why there was no photo of the waterfront.

Perfect Getaway

The house is fully stocked with everything we needed, including a well-appointed kitchen, comfy beds and a great gas grill on the deck. The deck! The huge wraparound deck was where we spent the majority of our time. It overlooks the beautiful yard and lake. While there are neighbors, you'd never know it. We felt like we had our own secluded oasis all week.

Cabin on East Leaf

My daughter, my sister and her daughter and I had a wonderful girls' weekend at the cabin! It was very comfortable, cozy and the Northwoods decor was very welcoming. The kitchen was enjoyable to use and well stocked. The wrap around porch was amazing. Communication with the owner was great and check in was effortless and so convenient. Wonderful cabin - lovely owners.

My son and I had a WONDERFUL TIME at Dan and Marnie's cabin. We cooked a lot in the well-appointed kitchen, hung out and played cards by the cozy pellet stove, and enjoyed the wooded stillness by the lake. All in all, just a great stay. We hope to be back!

Peaceful Lake Vibes

Rest and relaxation, much needed vacation.

This is our third stay in this cabin. It is clean and comfy. We really enjoyed the new dock and the fishing is fun. Even on the windy days we found plenty to do.

Fall stay

We had a wonderful time at the house watching the lake and fall colors and spending time with family. The description of the property was as described, and Marnie and Dan were easy to work with and very responsive. We had a pleasant, comfortable, and relaxing stay.

Beautifully decorated, Peaceful and Private.

We loved the property, the cabin super cozy, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed alot of time on the front deck with a beautiful view of the lake. The front deck, though no covering is nicely shaded by the beautiful trees. The birds are plentiful all through the trees. We saw Eagles, Hawks, Blue Heron, Ducks and many other smaller birds that serenaded us with their conversations and song. Dan and Marnie could not be any friendlier and were great help to us when we lost power for a day due to a local transformer repair. They own a general store and restaurant in near by Ottertail where we visited and enjoyed some shopping and wonderful scones and coffee. All in all a wonderful place! We would just like to mention a few things that did disappoint us a bit just to help others in their future stay. Though the listing includes TV, there is no service to the TV. If you want to use the TV you need to bring a HDMI compatible device to stream your own. There is a Blue Ray DVD player also to use and some DVDs provided. There is no washer/dryer on the premises. The Fire pit is not visible from the cabin. It is very nice with plenty of seating however behind a grove of trees and down at the lake. The lake is very low and marshy, we were not able to get the canoe out of the area it rested in. Younger more adventurous people who are not afraid of wading in the marsh and muck probably could though. Beautiful Property, Thankyou Dan and Marnie!

Cute, comfy getaway

Quiet, restful and comfortable, this cabin made a lovely home base for a long weekend exploring the area. There are state parks for hiking, beautiful vistas, and small towns to explore. My sisters and I enjoyed the small touches in the cabin that gave it personality. VRBO did not list the lock-box code for the key so we were relieved when we called the owner and got an answer. Be sure to get that before you go.

Beautiful view from lake cabin

The property was great. Enjoyed a couple of late summer afternoons on the dock watching the eagles, loons and fish jumping among the cattails and lilypads. The water level was too low to get out with the canoe given the drought. Cabin had everything we needed for a getaway. The Internet was too spotty to stream anything - so got lots of reading in. Good experience beyond that.

Summer getaway

Relaxing getaway

Enjoyed sitting on the deck coffee in hand overlooking a large backyard with view of the lake. We scouted around the small towns seeing all they had to offer. It was a good week of weather, relaxation and family time.

A Northern Getaway Gem

This cabin is all about the quaint, homey details. Everywhere you turn, there's a creative reminder that you're up north surrounded by nature. Furniture is constructed out of white pines, feathers line a living room lampshade, and the walls are decorated with dragonfly towel hooks, fishing lures and maps of the area's lakes. But my favorite detail of all was the antler used as a toilet paper holder -- ingenious! The creative aesthetic complemented the cabin perfectly, and the place was so clean and well-kept that it felt brand new. My boys and I felt right at home and couldn't spend enough time gazing out at the lake through the two-story wall of windows. The view from the loft, especially, is absolutely stunning. The wall of "logs" reaching to the roof added to the local flavor of the cabin, and we enjoyed movie nights with the Roku, thanks to the wi-fi. We played football and baseball in the expansive yard and spent time down at the dock overlooking the (bit dry but still relaxing) lake. Ours was a five-star stay at this gem of a cabin -- thank you!

Williams Cabin - East Leaf Lake

This property offers a wonderful "Up North" MN experience! Excellent layout & furnishings, clean; great wrap-around deck for relaxing and dock to enjoy spectacular sunsets. We made use of a great little brochure in the binder that had a user-friendly map outlining venues of interest in the area, including Glendalough State Park. Add the sweetness of birdsongs by day and fireflies by night, for a memorable stay, in all regards.

Dan & Marnie Whitehead purchased this property in 1998 with the dream of clearing the property enough to put their airstream camper on it until they could build their own cabin. Together with their two young daughters, they accomplished their dream and built the cabin in 2003. They have been working on finishing the cabin by themselves for the past 10 years while enjoying raising their family.

We fell in love with this property because of the many lakes, parks, festivals and other community events that bring people together! The property is absolutely serene no matter what season!

What makes this property unique

East Leaf Lake not only offers a variety of activities on the lake but also on Leaf River which is also perfect for canoeing, kayaking & fishing. This is an excellent pan-fishing lake with good Walleye, Northern & Large Mouth Bass! The lake is perfect for families as there is low boat traffic on most days.
