Villa Pilias is a new, detached house built in 2012 about 100 metres above sea level, in the Greek village of Kamaria with about 40 inhabitants. There is always a breeze, the sitting area on the terrace is cooled with water fog and in the bedrooms a normal air conditioning and an additional cooling via the floor can be switched on, so it is pleasant even in great heat. Villa Pilias is only 800 metres from the sandy beach and affords a picture-postcard view of the sea from the terrace, in clear visibility of the mountains of up to 2500 metres.Modern villa near the beach with a lovely panoramic view of the sea and the surrounding mountains, an ideal starting point in summer for trips to the beach and in winter for tours

Apart from a 42“ TV with HD satellite channels and a BluRay player, there is also a receiver with a docking station for an Ipad, Iphone etc. or a USB stick. One bedroom has another HD flatscreen TV. Internet is available via a powerful 4G WLAN router with prepaid card, which is charged on request for a fee. The three bedrooms each have a double bed. The living room has an L-shaped sofa, which can be converted easily into a sofa bed for two children. In the master bedroom you are awoken in the morning by a crowing cockerel and the Greek sun, which shines right onto the double bed. You open your eyes and look out from the bed at the blue sea, or not, if your close the aluminium blinds and the door with insulating glass, so the rooms stay cool with the air conditioning. The villa is in the countryside. You can cook in the fully-equipped kitchen, e.g. recipes from a Greek cookbook, which is in the well-stocked book cupboard. The kitchen provides a dishwasher, toaster, kettle, fridge, coffee machine, electric grill and ample crockery. When you come back in the evening from the sandy beach 800 metres away there are no queues for the bathroom and shower. Four people can shower at the same time in the villa, with 130 litres of water up to 70 degrees, heated with solar panels. The main bathroom has a double shower and two washbasins. The second bathroom with a shower and WC also has a washing machine.

Four folding loungers are available for sunbathing on the 50m² terrace, with an awning for shelter from the sun and a big table with eight outdoor chairs, and just as many in the dining corner, inviting you to sit and relax. All the windows are fitted with insect screens. The outdoor shower with hot water is very popular, with flowering bougainvillea and oleander next to the natural stone staircase guaranteeing privacy. On the terrace there is a water mist system which cools the air by evaporation on hot days.

In winter under-floor heating provides pleasant warmth in the villa. If you do not feel like tidying up or cleaning, then leave it as it is and book home service (payable). One reliable and honest ladies will tidy and clean for you. In the villa there is a hiking book in German language, in which nearby great paths through the Mediterranean landscape are well described. In addition, a group meets every Saturday from autumn to spring for a long guided hike. If, like so often in the south, the water is switched off, it is no problem at Villa Pilias, as the the house has a 1000-litre water tank to ensure a supply.

There is a supermarket just 800 metres away and the nearest taverna with delicious, typical Greek dishes (the lamb chops are a dream) is 250 metres away. If you would like to cook delicious Greek meals, then you just need to buy the ingredients, the best place for which is the market in the capital Kalamata. Enjoy Greece also in winter in pleasant temperatures, for visiting the many ancient sites or to go on extended walks through olive groves or even mountain hikes in snow.
