The house was immaculate and the owners were quick to respond to us. Location is perfect, close to beach with a beautiful view! We would recommend staying here!
We loved everything about this old school beach house! Tropical Storm Debby did her darnedest to ruin our two week vacay, but we enjoyed every minute of it! Good mix of sun and rain and wind and awesome waves. Best thing about this house papartially covered drck
We loved the Docks Cottage, the place is well kept and had everything we needed for our stay. The beach nearby was a fun place to chase moon crabs at night with our kids (bring flashlights). A short beach walk north brings you to a stretch of beach that is totally uninhabited, it was a beautiful place to walk and relax.
The property is definitely closer to the beach than the pictures show. We loved it. The outside showers were great at minimizing the sand into the house. Sadly, we did not get to see any fireworks; those were only on the Avon pier. The property has a portable dishwasher, but it was too time consuming to set it up. Aside from liens, you may want to bring a pillow, the beds each come with a pillow and they weren't very comfy. The beds were comfy though. Definitely rent again.
Great place to relax with short walk to beach. Plenty of space for small family or couples. Quiet but near restaurants and stores. Owners share local information and easy check-in.
Once again, Dock’s did not disappoint. This is the 5th year we have rented this home. The rental process is smooth from start to finish. The owner is wonderful to work with. For my family, Docks is our home away from home. Thank you for another relaxing & comfortable vacation. Until next year…
We love coming to Buxton and staying at The Docks. Location is perfect. A short walk and you’re at the beach. When it’s time for a break from the sun and beach the deck is a perfect place to have some lunch and/or read a book! You can walk to get dinner and don’t forget ice cream at Uncle Eddy’s! The cottage is clean, well stocked and comfortable. Can’t wait until we are back next year!
House was so clean and so so close to the ocean which was perfect with three young children and the tons of toys we had to haul back and forth. We had a few days of all rain so having a nice clean house to hangout in and keep us dry was wonderful. Plenty of room. Comfy beds and couches. Two outdoor showers was very convenient. Cannot wait to stay here again and hope for better weather. Only 8 min to the nearest food lion, Dollar general right around the corner. Conners supermarket was also right around the corner and prices were surprisingly affordable! Contact with owner was very easy and friendly.
Some things to note ( owners did make us aware of this!)
We had to bring our own bed linens, towels for kitchen and bathroom use, paper products, trash bags)
Plenty of cookware, utensils, and plates/cups.
Thank you for providing a safe, comfortable, affordable place for my family. It was truly a wonderful stay!
Once again Docks did not disappoint. Ready when we arrived. New bedding & a new fridge greeted us for this stay (our 4th). They were doing beach replenishment on out beach, but it did not deter us. Already looking forward to next year. Thanks, Richard & Charles for another great vacation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Docks. The home is better than advertised. Very clean, well appointed and excellent location. While we were sadly unable to use the beach access during our stay due to the beach nourishment project, it is just steps away. We will for sure be returning soon!
Beautiful location, relaxing, peaceful, and a lovely cottage with everything we needed!
We had a great stay at the Docks cottage. It was very clean at check-in, and offered us everything we needed for our week long stay. The location is beautiful with a lot of interesting sites and beaches to check out close by. The view from the deck is outstanding, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We definitely plan to stay at the Docks cottage again!
Super easy process to rent and communication was great!
Great beach house for our small family. Place was clean and view was spectacular from deck. Only complaint was there was no beach. There was no place to set up due to storms wiping out beach. Hope next year will be different with the beach revitalization.
The house was nicely maintained, outdoor showers deluxe. Interior furnishings and kitchen well-supplied. There is an unimpeded view of the ocean from upper porch, but about 4 lots back from beach, not oceanfront as I had requested originally. Nice area though and had a very nice time.
Property was very clean. The walk from the house to the beach is shorter than a lot of beachfront places we have stayed. The driveway is at the start of the sand. The only issue we had was due to rain and the buildup of sand on the street, the street floods right in front of the house. Our family had a car and a truck, so we just avoided going out in the car when water was high.
Very family friendly location. We had an infant, 2kids and 4 adults. It was nice to be able to quickly run back to the house for bottles, bathrooms, and to grab snacks while at the beach.
There are tons of places to go check out, stores nearby to get your necessities (dollar general was our best friend lol). All around, we had a great stay! Owners were quick to respond with our questions also.
What should be our 3rd stay at Dock’s, is actually our 2nd. Hurricane Isaias had other plans for us last summer. This year was very anticipated & Dock’s did not disappoint. Richard is one of the best owners I’ve encountered. Very responsive & accommodating. The house is perfect for what we need (a roof over our heads, comfortable beds, equipped kitchen). It was clean & ready for us when we arrived. The 2 outdoor showers are great also. We used the boogie boards & beach chairs in addition to our own. The washer & dryer is always a bonus! We will definitely be back again.
Our parents bought the lot in the early fifties which began our family's visits to the island. From then until now various parts of the family have spent time there - camping, staying in cottages, doing water sports, beachcombing, and relaxing. The house was built in the seventies. Building the cottage enhanced the setting for all of us and, again, we continued to spend as much time as possible between our various responsibilities at our own widespread 'mainland' homes. Throughout that time and to the present we have taken great pride in the house and have maintained it well. We have a local property manager who has helped maintain the house and work with guests.
Mom and dad are deceased now and Charles and I (Richard) are continuing the tradition and the standards set by our parents. We hope you consider the house in your vacation plans. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have about the house or the area.
