About this property

A River Runs Through It #2 Waterfront luxury with hot tub, fireplace & firepit

Cedarbreeze is more than a cabin. It is a cozy little house complete with all the amenities of a home. It has a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, lovely river rock fireplace, and a generous living area.

There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sofa bed in the living room. Both beds have comfortable latex mattresses.

Outside, the large covered deck overlooks a huge lawn sloping down to the river. A propane BBQ is provided on the deck. A hot tub for the exclusive use of this cabin sits on a side deck. There is a fire pit just for the use of this cabin, and a small fenced yard is convenient for those with children or pets.

Lovely landscaping enhances the beauty of the setting as well as providing privacy between cabins.

Beautiful, peaceful get-away from everyday life!
We stayed 2 nights starting on May 9, 2024. We were looking for a peaceful retreat, and this place was it! The Sol Duc River was absolutely beautiful and provided the solitude we desired. Take a chair down by the river and watch for the red-tailed hawk to swoop in for a meal. Bring your binoculars! The weather was perfectly sunny with highs in the upper 60s & lower 70s when we were there. We enjoyed eating our meals on the beautiful back deck that overlooks the river. The bird feeders, including a hummingbird feeder, were nice additions to enjoy the local birds. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed in the kitchen to make our meals. We used the fan stored in the bedroom closet for white noise to drown out the traffic on Hwy 101. We also found a step stool in that same closet which is very handy for reaching the dishes in the kitchen. The cabin is decorated beautifully and feels like a home, not just a place to rent. The hot tub was perfect after a day of hiking. You will find the light switch for the vanity lights in the bathroom on the outside of the bathroom door, while there is a switch for the fan/light on the inside of the bathroom. This place is somewhat remote, but it was perfect in proximity to all the things on our agenda: sunset & low tide at La Push (Second Beach), Cape Flattery, Sol Duc Falls, and Hoh Rain Forest, which we did the day we left. We recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful time away!

Best Cabin in Town
I recently stayed at this cabin in Port Angeles and it was nothing short of spectacular! The cabin offered a stunning river view that was a constant reminder of the natural beauty surrounding us. Despite a mix of rain and sun, each day felt uniquely serene and picturesque. The hot tub was a highlight, providing the perfect relaxation spot after a day of exploring. The weather added to the ambiance, with the rain amplifying the cabin's cozy feel and the sunny days brightening the expansive views. Cleanliness and quietness were top-notch, creating a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a tranquil getaway in a pristine setting! Thank you Brenda, the pictures do not do your cabin justice

Another Wonderful Getaway
Over the years, we've stayed at the "A River Runs Through It" cottages 4 times during "birthdays week" and for an anniversary. Of the various vacation properties we’ve been to, this is our favorite. Given its idyllic riverside location and being a rabid fly angler, the vintage fishing decor is especially appealing to me, but the cottages' interiors and furnishings are also elegant and stylish. The cottages are extremely well maintained, always spotless, and everything always works! In the temperate PNW coastal rainforest, that demonstrates Brenda and Ted have a true dedication to excellence. The amenities are 1st class-top drawer; even the dishes! As far as location goes it’s remote and you can tune out the world. But if you wish, fast internet and TV can keep you connected to the chaos. For things to do, I've landed fish within sight of the back door while my non-angling wife does quilting projects on the dining table. Nearby hiking trails and backroads lead to spectacular mountain and saltwater vistas, and giant moss covered rainforest trees. Forks has events going on year-round; live amateur theatre, live music... And the “Cedarbreeze” cottage is pet-friendly with a fully fenced yard allowing us to bring our dog along. We Love it. Thank You Brenda and Ted for sharing your place with us again.

Sol Duc Fishing weekend
Loved this cozy cabin right on the Sol Duc River. Idyllic, peaceful and a perfect getaway for us. Decorated so nicely with antiques and nicely stocked for ultimate comfort. We loved the hottub and used it daily. Location was perfect for my husband and nephew to get to areas they like to fish. We look forward to coming back again!

Olympic Park getaway
This was the greatest VRBO rental I have come across. Everything for every day living and the things needed for vacationing were all included with this rental. Not to mention that Brenda, the host, was a nice down to earth person to meet. I'll definitely be rebooking for another trip out to Olympic National Park.

Wonderful experience. Loved our stay. Everything you need is provided. The washer/dryer unit is nice feature and it included detergent. The patio was very relaxing along with the hot tub that overlooks the Sol Duc river. The location was fairly central and a grocer is only a 10 min drive to Beaver.

Stream Paradise
Watch the water riffle in the rain from the covered deck of this outstanding property. This was a hiking vacation and the hikes were glorious from this property midway between Hoh Rainforest and Hurricane Ridge views of Mt. Olympus. But we also loved the rainy day inbetween where we sat on the huge deck protected by the rain and watched the creek. Bird feeders brought in Steller's Jays, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Dark-eyed Juncos, and right on the deck, frequent visits by a female Rufous Hummingbird. Truly this is a gem, from the hand made woodwork edging interior doors to the tables, chairs, and comfortable beds. The best of the best!

Great location, lodging, and communication
We picked this place first for the location. Olympic is a big park and it is impossible to be close to everything, but this location puts you as close to all the sites as possible. The house was beautiful. The landlord was quick to respond to questions. She even arrived at our cabin with a vehicle and jumper cables when the battery of my car died. Thanks for a great stay!

A perfect retreat
This cabin is truly a perfect retreat right in the heart of Olympic National Park. The location was ideal for exploring, and the cabin was spotless and very comfortable with all the amenities you could need. You can tell a lot of care and love has gone into the property, it felt very special to be there. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and chipmunks on the deck as the river flowed by. Hope to return one day!

About the host

Hosted by Brenda Connely

Host profile image
We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted is from Nebraska but has been here on the Olympic Peninsula since 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found the river house. A friend mentioned the property might be available. We bought it and spent every spare moment for the next four years fixing it up. One day in March of 2004 Brenda came back to the cabin from work in Port Angeles carrying Sam the cat, who had been the only one occupying the house in Port Angeles most of the time. 'We live here now,' she announced, 'we're always here anyway.' She got no argument from Ted and so the house in Port Angeles was sold and we became full time residents at the cabin.

Everybody enjoyed life at the cabin, including Sam, but after several long, wet winters we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks, still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the cabin so we decided to share it with others by turning in into a vacation rental. It has been gratifying to see our guests love it too. So many have told us they don't want to leave at the end of their stay.

Why they chose this property

Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and the house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feelings about the place.

What makes this property unique

We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guests comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, soak in the hot tub, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.
