About this property

Mas des Oliviers - 3 Bdrm ancient farmhouse with A/C near St Remy and Avignon

Les Oliviers, is a charming three bedroom, three bath house cleverly installed in the historic stone building that once stored the grain for the mill. It is surrounded by century old olive trees, lavender, thyme rosemary and other beautiful flowering plants of Provence. The living area, kitchen and dining area open to the center courtyard where you also have a beautiful view of the brilliantly colored Bignone (climbing from the rock garden up the ancient stone wall to the forest) and a bank of lavender and rosemary.

This house is decorated in Provencal style with high-quality fabrics, furniture, and antiques. It is simple, rustic yet elegant and keeps the décor of Provence alive without overcrowding with too many small objects.

The living space is airy, cozy with plenty of light. There are exposed beamed ceilings, stone walls and a large old stone chimney typical of a Provencal mas. Large French windows and glass doors create a sunny and cheerful ambiance. A nice dining area adjoins this living space and provides a nice view of the central garden. In the living area, there is also a large screen television with English channels, stereo (mp3 and USB connection) and DVD player. You can enjoy relaxing in this comfortable salon with two large sofas and upholstered chairs.
Convenient to the living space is your own private terrace with teak furniture, parasol, lounge chairs and stone barbecue. Geraniums planted all along the wall adorn this terrace in addition to the old olive trees and lavender.

Also on the ground floor there a nice size bedroom with armoire and terrace access. It includes a bath with shower (bench) and sink and a private toilet room separate from the bath, also with sink.
On the second floor reached from a beautiful stone curved staircase, there are two additional bedrooms both with high exposed beam ceilings and walls, one bedroom having retained the original stone walls. Each bedroom has plenty of light and its own private bath, sink, and toilet. All are decorated in a colorful Provencal décor.
Any bedroom can be either single or king beds so if you are traveling as couples or a family, everyone will equally have a room that is suitable for their needs.

Outstanding family retreat

Easily 5 star rating on all the expected items! The surprise was a 90 page document prepared by Gabby that details all the very best options for visiting, including navigation tips for dining, shopping, and sightseeing across Provence, (including best days to visit!) On top of it all, Guy and Gabby are a delightful couple to visit. We hope to return soon.

Wonderful Family Vacation!

We can't begin to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Moulin De La Roque! Gaby and Guy are wonderful hosts, warm and attentive, gracious and generous, always happy and helpful. We've been to this area many times, but they gave us great suggestions for places and activities we'd never done before - hiking to ruins of a fort near Buoux, attending the running of the bulls in Noves, a great marché in Coustelet, and visiting the flamingos in the Camargue. Merci! Mas des Oliviers is lovely - beautiful Provencal decor, comfortable beds, AC, a small but well equipped kitchen so we could easily cook for 6 of us and eat on the terrace most nights. (The mistral winds moved us inside a few nights, but dining table was fine too!) So peaceful, even with other guests staying in nearby homes. Plenty of gorgeous landscaping, open grassy areas, a large pool and petanque court, plus a short path up to top of their hill with great view of the countryside. We can't wait to go back again!! A bientôt!

Schöne Ferienwohnungen in traumhafter Lage

Our week in Provence

We recently stayed at Mas de Oliviers with 2 other couples for our wonderful week in Provence. The property is amazing--beautiful, historical, lush and peaceful. Our house was perfect for 3 couples to gather together and yet have your own space when needed. Gaby and Guy were phenomenal hosts and helped us out with whatever we needed. I would highly recommend this property--almost anywhere in Provence is easily accessible. Great week!

Relaxing, private, a special vacation

Our second stay at Mas des Oliviers. Again, a perfect place to rest your head after touring the Provencal landscape. The location of Moulin de la Roque is ideal for visiting all the lovely little towns and wineries in the area, lavender fields, the larger cities like Avignon, but is equally wonderful to just stay on property. Our "Mas" was just as great as it was the first time we came. Always clean, a well stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, etc. And it is not just the amenities! Guy and Gaby have made Moulin a home away from home. You meet other guests and have a great connection just having experienced all that Moulin de la Roque has to offer. The listing of the property is as it says and the pictures are exactly what you get. The customer service is beyond exceptional with recommendations for restaurants, things to see, and even a tour of the historical mill. We visited St. Remy, Avignon, Gordes, Nimes, Orange, Pont du Gard, Arles, Isle sur la Sorgue, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Cassis, Aix en Provence, just to name a few. If you plan your day well, you can see so many things and come back to Moulin de la Rogue for a refreshing swim and then dinner. I cannot say enough about Moulin de la Roque and how much we enjoyed our time there. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

Perfect place to stay for your "week in Provence"

There are three aspects from our week at Moulin de la Roque that made this a perfect holiday for our adult family. Firstly it was a perfect location central to Provence and all its attractions. Whether heading east west north or south every day trip was easily accessible. Secondly the site it self is a perfect place to stay, very comfortable and with its lovely grounds and pool. Finally, Gaby and Guy were such great hosts with nothing too much for them to help us with whether where to go for dinner or what to do for a day visit. We thoroughly recommend this little piece of magic in Provence.

Splendid!

Two dear friends, my husband and I spent a lovely week in L'Oliviers. Gabby & Guy were perfect hosts, helpful with suggestions for organizing our time. Location was ideal for our multiple day trips. The Moulin is gorgeous with spacious and perfectly groomed grounds & a perfect pool. Accommodations were very comfortable & we enjoyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen. We highly recommend this for a relaxing visit & we hope we are able to return.

Our little piece of French Paradise

We, along with two other couples enjoyed the most wonderful week at Moulin de la Roque in the village of Noves in the south of France. The location is perfect on many fronts. It is central to all that Provence has to offer, it is private and safe, it has many accommodation options to choose from, you have a sense of being in a home away from home, it has ample parking, it is beautiful and relaxing and you have the most amazing hosts who treat you like visiting family. Guy and Gaby, could not have been more accommodating and went out of their way to ensure we had the best experience in the Provence region. They were never intrusive but always available when needed. They provided a comprehensive booklet prior to our arrival setting out valuable information on the Provence region, including directions, market days and times, recommendations and suggestions. On arrival they were welcoming and informative. My husband celebrated his 70th birthday there and Gaby helped in recommending a Chef to come and cook us a 3-course dinner which was perfect. The grounds of the estate (which includes a magnificent pool area) are kept beautifully and there is no restriction on your access. The properties are all well furnished and equipped with everything you need for your comfort and enjoyment. The walk into the village is delightful and you will find most of what you need there in the way of services (supermarket, pharmacy, post office, cafes, boulangerie, hair dressers .... to name just a few). We all had such a fun stay at this location and have only one regret and that is that it was way too short .... we would have loved to have stayed longer. I can highly recommend this property and would return again in a heartbeat ... go on, do it .... you won't be disappointed and it will be a highlight of your holiday!!

A Private Beautiful Gem in the Heart of Provence!

We are six Aussie friends who have travelled the world extensively and stayed with the lovely Gaby and Guy in one of their homes on this beautiful property/hamlet. This property is made up of different accomodation options and we stayed in the lovely homely Les Oliviers. The property is surrounded by immacalate gardens and a fantastic large private pool and cabana. It is a short walk into the village of Noves and if Provence was a wheel this lovely property is located in the centre for discovering this beautiful region of France. Your hosts Gaby and Guy are delightful and went our of their way to impart their knowledge and love of this area. We took up as many of their recommendations as our too short seven days allowed us to including the in-house Chef Yvan who provided us with a culinary delight. Moulin de la Rouge is must stay in Provence and we cannot recommend them highly enough and hope you love it as much as we did. We would love to return.

Wonderful Provence Property

This beautiful 3 bedroom house is located on the Moulin de la Roque estate near Noves. It was restored with all the old Provence charm but also with all the modern conveniences. Large rooms, modern kitchen and bathrooms, private patio, comfortable and clean. A wonderful place to spend a Provence holiday. And the property owners/managers were very helpful and accommodating with trip planning and daily excursion advice. I hope to visit again soon!

Provence hospitality!

Our home away from home for a week at Moulin de la Roque was magical! We arrived on Saturday and Guy greeted us ! He gave us a tour of the house and the property and made us feel right at home. A wonderful tart and fresh flowers were on the table. The decorations in the house were beautiful and the 3 bedrooms and 3 baths were nicely appointed. Special touches were everywhere and the outdoor patio with table made it perfect for our French chef to serve us a wonderful dinner! The estate is gorgeous and the plants and landscaping made it so beautiful. The location in Provence is perfect and a nice drive to many of the wonderful villages. The hosts have information they have prepared which describes many of the local villages nearby, shops, markets, wineries, restaurants, and they will help you with any questions you may have. Guy and Gaby make it very easy to relax in their comfortable home. They are experienced hosts and will do everything they can to make your vacation just perfect!

Raspberry tart and fresh flowers

We are 3 couples who have rented many VRBO places around Europe during the past 10 years; this rental was the BEST place we've ever stayed! Driving around Provence in a 9pax van can be trying, but the location allowed us to spend more time at the daily sites than riding on tiny roads. We arrived on Saturday to a beautiful raspberry tart and fresh flowers on the table. The small details were wonderful (along with Gucci, our new favorite estate dog). Gabi was fantastic and full of local information. We walked to Noves and loved the 2 bakeries there. Wonderful!

An abosutely perfect place from which to explore Provence - Moulin de la Roque

There are very few homes that offer both king size beds and en suite baths - and we found the perfect place that offered this plus the homeyness, beauty and comfort of home. We were three couples. We stayed in les Oliviers at Moulin de la Roque and were perfectly impressed with the value, beauty, convenience and hospitality of the whole package. Gaby and Guy do everything to make your stay comfortable -- they make the difference between a fine place with good rooms and a perfect place for a getaway. They truly care about the Moulin and every guest that stays there. The place is also centrally located for launching into the Luberon, St. Remy, Avignon, Arles, and even beyond.

This is the place to stay in Provence

When we drove up to this estate we were blown away. It's gorgeous! We were immediately met by Robin, one of the staff, who greeted us and gave us a tour of the estate. The grounds and facilities were immaculate. Then we were taken to our villa "Les Oliviers" which has 3 bedrooms each with a private bathroom, well stocked kitchen, dining area and living room with plenty of comfy seating for all 6 of us (3 couples). The villa was very nicely decorated and welcoming. We had the best time during our 1 week stay here! Our hosts & owners, Guy and Gaby, were absolutely wonderful, so friendly and helpful. We wanted to do some special tours & they suggested a person who could help us find just the right guides which worked out perfectly. We arranged the tours several months before our trip. We also set up a little tour with Guy who gave us the history of the estate and the mill which we really enjoyed. During our stay we arranged for a professional chef, Ivan, to come and prepare a private dinner for us. It was fabulous! So much fun watching him in action, the dinner was outstanding and he even cleaned up. If you're looking for accommodations in Provence, look no farther, this IS the place to stay!

Great house Les Oliviers

We thought the house and grounds and owners all rate an A. I do want to describe the bedrooms. The master bedroom was beautiful with a large window overlooking the garden. The second bedroom was large but it only had a skylight and no window which could bother some people. The lower bedroom had french doors leading to the garden which we felt comfortable leaving open but some people might not feel safe leaving them open but we felt completely safe. The kitchen living room and dining room were charming and totally provence. The owners were very helpful and when our cooking class fell through they found another one for us,

"Perfection"

This was the first word to come out of my mouth as we arrived at Moulin de la Roque. It is like going back in time but with all the modern amenities you could ask for and none of the pretense. Moulin de la Roque is the perfect place to start your adventure into the wine region, the various villages and larger cities of southern France within a stone's throw. We had pleasant trips to everything and then coming back to the Mas was so wonderful. Guy and Gabby are truly passionate about what they do, which made our stay unforgettable. I have had a hard time adjusting back to "the real world". Both Gabby and Guy were able to come up with different areas to explore and get us some great restaurants to try locally. Truly a spectacular place to vacation and I cannot say enough about Moulin de la Roque.

Moulin de la Roque, Noves, France

My husband, daughter and 7 year old twin grandchildren spent a very enjoyable week at Les Olivers Moulin de la Roque in Noves, France. Guy and Gabby were the perfect hosts, attentive to every detail for our comfort, and very personable and friendly. They were very helpful in suggesting interesting day trips. The facility location and grounds were outstanding. It was picturesque, comfortable, clean, well appointed and interesting. All in all we (including the kids) had a marvelous time and would highly recommend it to anyone.

A wonderful place in the sun

We had a wonderful time staying in this house in the last week of August. On arrival we were given a comprehensive tour of the estate and the house, this was backed up by a great written guide, which we referred to often. And what a house - it was a real home from home with everything we required. My Canadian cousin was thrilled with the outdoor grill, which was put to full use every evening. The house was the perfect base for exploring the towns, markets and delights of this area. And after a hard of exploring, wine tasting and lunching the pool in the grounds was the perfect place to relax and cool off.

About the host

Hosted by Guy Fallon and Gaby Janney

Host profile image
We are Guy and Gaby, your hosts at Moulin de la Roque in Noves Provence France.

Guy came from Belgium over 22 years ago searching for an estate in France where he could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. He found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque.

A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. It was nestled up to a mountain and rock cliff and surrounded by a lovely river. There were fields of orchards and a small vineyard and a grand chateau.

The only problem was that most of it was in ruins. He had no idea what he would do with it, however, being an engineer by education and an architect at heart, he had no hesitation to begin a renovation of the property which continues even today.

Guy met Gabrielle (Gaby), an American, 14 years ago when she came as a guest to the Moulin with some artists to paint. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so he, of course, helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she has never left.! Some say she is still there waiting for her luggage to arrive.

Guy and Gaby are passionate about their mill and their Provence and love sharing both with their guests. When you arrive you are their guests when you leave, you leave as their friends.

They delight in sharing their secret discoveries of Provence and get pleasure in watching their guests make and share their own discoveries.

Gaby loves to paint and often has art workshops at the mill. Guy is an avid hiker and would love to give you all his advice and discoveries of the quaint and hidden Provence wilderness.

Gaby who loves the villages and markets, cooking, décor, and shopping can give you expert advice if that is your passion.

You will feel at home in Provence at the Moulin de la Roque with Guy and Gaby as your hosts.

Why they chose this property

I came from Belgium 25 years ago searching for an estate in France where I could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. I found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque. A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. I met Gaby, an American 15 years ago when she came as a guest on my estate with other artists. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so I helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she is still here!

Along with Gaby, we have created 9 villas or a little 'Provencal village. Each year we continue to restore and create this little village paradise for our guests. People from around the world visit the Moulin each year and are surprised by its beauty, quality, and attention to detail. Some of our best compliments are 'it's so beautiful, even better than the internet site!'

We enjoy being your hosts and treat you as if you are a guest in our home. We are there to provide you with advice on the area, reservations for restaurants, help if you are sick or lost or any other support you may need. You arrive as guests and you leave as friends. The little piece of paradise was created with you in mind.

We are passionate about our estate, Provence and about you, our guests.
Gaby loves to paint, the markets, cuisine and the charming villages. I am an avid hiker and together we would love to give you our knowledge of the area and our advice.

What makes this property unique
