The Gingerbread house is located just 7 minutes from the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve! and just 15 minutes from West Virginia's newest State Park (Summersville Lake State Park).Come stay with us and enjoy your home away from home with a million dollar view!!!!!!!!!
Our home can sleep up to 14. But groups of 8 or10 are our norm and seems the best fit .The Gingerbread house is located in the center of farming and basically a retirement community. We have a paved circle drive with lots of parking and lots of parking for your boat or extra vehicles. We have an over the air antenna and we have excellent cell phone coverage in our area.
we supply Firewood(for one night) for free, and we also have gas and charcoal grills on the property for your convenience. We supply the gas and you supply the charcoal and lighter if needed
We have a large inground solar heated pool and a 4 person hot tub in the pool area with a cabana with a table . chairs and a small fridge for drinks. There is also a radio.
This is our 10th year as a host with vrbo and we are geared more towards families with kids and grand kids that use our home as a central location for a family vacation. Travelling from all locations and distances you will find that our home is in the middle of many popular vacation sites and activities. last but not least. we provide pillows for the beds but our guests are to provide their own bed linens for their stay. We adopted this practice during covid and have kept it as it seems to be well accepted by our previous guests. WE HAVE REDUCED OUR PRICE BY 100 PER NIGHT SINCE WE ARE NOT SUPPLYING BED LINENS, FOR OUR WHOLE CALENDAR YEAR!!

MY WIFE AND I BUILT THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE BEFORE WE GOT MARRIED WHILE WE WERE DATING, WE HAD IT READY TO MOVE INTO IN THE WINTER OF 1980 AND WE GOT MARRIED AND MOVED IN ON DEC 28, 1980. WE BOTH ARE LIFE LONG RESIDENTS OF FAYETTE COUNTY , I HAVE LIVED IN HICO ALL MY LIFE AND THIS PROPERTY HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE. Debbie and I lived in the Gingerbread house for 33 years and decided to use it as a supplemental income as opposed to selling it. We welcome you our guests to enjoy our retro home and cherish its memories as we have while enjoying the local area and its many things to do!!!!( WE ASK THAT YOU BRING YOUR OWN , BED LINENS AND BLANKETS. WE HAVE ADOPTED THIS PRACTICE TO MAKE THE GUESTS FEEL MORE AT EASE WITH THEIR OWN LINENS,,, WE STILL PROVIDE TOWELS AND WASH CLOTHS.(WE HAVE PILLOWS IF YOU CHOOSE TO LEAVE YOURS AT HOME)

LOCATED MINUTES FROM ANYTHING FUN OR EXCITING THAT YOU WOULD WANT TO EXPLORE. STATE PARKS HAWKS NEST AND BABCOCK ARE NEARBY AS ARE MANY OTHER ATTRACTIONS PERTAINING TO THE NEW RIVER GORGE. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING FROM A SIMPLE HIKE TO A BRIDGEWALK OR ZIPLINE TOUR TO A RIDE IN AN ANTIQUE STEARMAN BIPLANE!!!! ONLY MINUTES AWAY.!!!! WE ASK THAT YOU BRING YOUR OWN BED LINENS, AND a BLANKET, OUR BEDS ARE ENCASED IN ZIPPERED PLASTIC ENCASEMENTS THAT ARE WIPED DOWN AFTER EACH STAY.. we provide ample amount of pillows.

Our home is warm and cozy and easy to find. We have a beautiful view of the countryside and we are not stacked up against other cabins at all. We try to have nearly no harsh rules and want you to feel at home as much as possible.
