Great lake week

This house is very spacious and well maintained, and the back deck and new dock are awesome. We had 5 adults staying for most of the week, with plenty of room for all and lots of opportunity for lake fun. Close enough to Canandaigua that we were able to attend a concert at CMAC one night. The only challenge is the access road that is a bit difficult to navigate if you don't have an SUV or 4-wheel drive vehicle.

The property was very peaceful. The owner provided kayaks, a canoe and a rowboat which was very nice to have. The cottage was well stocked with kitchen items and games. We had a great week.

Beautiful quiet spot

We loved our week here. The cottage suited our group perfectly. We loved the outside space for hanging out and having meals. The upstairs big bedroom was perfect for various family members and guests who were in and out during the week and we loved the bedroom facing the lake to wake up in! Overall it was a perfect spot.

Wonderful Stay

Loved the location of this property - right on the water and quite secluded. An extremely peaceful and relaxing location. Plenty of space to spread out, nice beds, well decorated and cared for both in and out. The Dunn's have beautiful flowers everywhere and a great and well equipped deck for eating or just sitting and enjoying the scenery. Also Joyce and her husband were great to work with. The road to get there needs to be traveled slowly but it's well worth the time.

Secluded getaway for our family and dogs

We stayed during the peak season for fall color, and it was amazing. We chose this place because our geriatric dogs cannot be left alone and we needed to bring them with us, and they were welcome by the owners. Our Lab swam and swam while our Shepherd waded and snoozed. Lots of fish to be had, and so much to see and do in the area! The home was perfect for our needs - quiet, comfortable, clean, and within easy driving distance to the Women's Rights National Historical Park, the Corning Glass Museum, and the Rockwell Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we would have booked it for a longer retreat. We hope to be back!

Relaxing quiet spot for vacation

Beautiful location and lake access. One minor suggestion is to have the owners supply the bedding and towels. It is a big house and having to bring all of that is a lot of work. Otherwise a very nice house and quiet place to enjoy vacation. There are lots of fish in that area and fishing was so much fun!

Dreamy Vacation

My family of five had the most perfect summer vacation at this lake house. It was so clean and organized. It had everything we needed to enjoy the lake. We were outside the entire time, and even during one day that was drizzly we felt like we were outside because the entire first floor is windows to the lake. My three kids (age 5, 2, and 2) swam the entire time. We packed everyone in the canoe and went on safaris. Lots of wildlife...cormorants, kingfishers, great blue herons...there are binocs and bird books which was cool. My son looked for fish during our canoe trips and found lots of blue gills and a huge carp. This discovery almost flipped the boat! Groceries are close. We didn't eat out but there were nearby options. We took a day trip several time for waterfall hikes and our kids favorite was only a few minutes away. They could splash around and climb. We relaxed as much as parents of 3 toddlers can! Thank you so much for making this lake house available to rent. We made lifelong memories.

We had a delightful week on Canandaigua Lake!

This cottage is well equipped with almost everything you need for an enjoyable stay (we took our own towels and linens). The property is lovely, with plenty of grass areas and two separate swimming spots with docks. There is a spacious deck that is especially nice for reading, sunning, board games, and just relaxing - for most of the day. The only challenge is that being located on the east side of Canandaigua Lake, the summer sun in the late afternoon and evening makes the deck, cottage, and yard very, very warm. We were there for a particularly hot week in July and found that making and eating dinner needed to be put off until 8:15 when the sun dropped below the hills across the lake and the cottage cooled down. But that is a challenge for all homes on the "east side" of Canandaigua Lake. We enjoyed being at the quieter end of the lake and used the kayaks that were part of the cottage package. We also rented a pontoon boat from Smith Brothers Marina (directly across the lake) for three days and had a great time checking out the scenery and lake homes on both the east and west sides. The close proximity to Naples was nice for quick trips to the grocery store and lunch at Roots Cafe. Because we live in Rochester, this cottage was convenient for all three of my grown children to easily make it to the lake for at least a few days and we had some great family time. Overall, a wonderful week!

Kayaks and Fishing and Birds, oh my!

What a great time we had at this beautiful cottage on Lake Canandaigua during the last week of June! My husband and I have stayed at various lake houses on several different lakes throughout the Northeast for the last 9 years. This one was the absolute closest to perfection we have found! There was ample space to house the various family and friends who came and spent a night or two with us throughout the week. The deck is magnificent--offering amazing sunbathing during the day and gorgeous sunsets. We ate most of our meals outside on that deck as well. We were blown away on our kayaking adventures as we headed to the very southernmost end of the lake--birders' heaven!! Cormorants, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Swallows, etc...My husband and brother-in-lawa enjoyed fishing from the rowboat one day, while a few of us swam by the dock. The yard is immaculately landscaped with gorgeous pots and beds of flowers. We always take our croquet set with us when we vacation, but don't always get to use it because the lawns are usually too small or non-existent. This property had a perfect lawn for croquet!! Sipping a glass of wine, singing, telling silly stories, and roasting marshmallows on the fire pit at night was a great way to end each day. We highly recommend the Dunn's very special piece of heaven on earth!

Awesome Cottage on the Lake

This is the first time we have rented this beautiful cottage on the lake. And it certainly won't be the last! The cottage is so comfortable and well stocked. We had everything we needed to enjoy a fabulous family reunion. We fished from the dock and enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on the lake. The views are amazing. We cherished every day and enjoyed every moment. Everything was perfect and exceeded our very high expectations. Our thanks to the Dunn's for sharing their home with us and giving us bunches of fond memories.

Fantastic double birthday fun on Canandaigua

This year, for my boyfriend and his best friend's birthday, we decided to change it up from our usual BBQ and get out of the city for some glorious time on the lake. We had a full house of couples and friends, along with our two dogs, and couldn't have had a better time. The Dunn's property was clean and comfortable, had plenty of beds for all, plus kitchen supplies and linens, that we never felt lacking for anything--but the real star is the huge deck! We spent most of our waking hours outside--swimming, sunning, canoeing, grilling, or just catching up under the umbrella with a cocktail; such a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the city, and the sunsets were sublime. All in all, it made for one of the best birthday weekends ever! After our friends departed, and the night before my boyfriend and I were to check out, we added another day, just because we couldn't bear the thought of leaving, and the Dunns were so lovely to accommodate us on such short notice. Wonderful people, wonderful property. We will be back!

Beautiful lakefront getaway!

My family (including our 3 year old) loved this relaxing lakefront property. We appreciated the thoughtful touches to help us feel at home, including information about local eateries, breweries, and other attractions. Naples and Canandaigua are both easy drives from the cottage. The property itself was clean, well-maintained, and allowed plenty of space for us to spread out both indoors and outside. The large deck overlooking the water was absolutely amazing and provided many comfortable places to sit in both the sun and the shade, and to watch the sunsets. There is lots of access to the water to swim and explore, and the fire pit was a hit as well. Our only minor issue was that the oars for the row boat were not in good condition, but the owners were already aware of the issue and taking care of it. We will be back!

It doesn't get any better than this!

This place is everything as advertised and more! Wonderful relaxing environment with plenty of yard and water space. The deck on this place is to die for and a wonderful gathering place. It's easy to see why this family loves this home and the care they've applied over the years. A Wonderful Get a Way!

Beautiful private location. Clean and extremely well maintained and equipped. Girls weekend away could not have been in a better location. Easy access to wineries, shopping and the village of Naples. Loved lounging on the deck early morning with coffee, enjoyed lunches by the water with an amazing view. Wonderful campfire in the evenings. Loved it! We are all looking forward to returning in the fall of 2014. This is now our new tradition for our girls get weekend away!!
