Hidden gem
Very thoughtfully designed and perfect! Layout, lighting, convenience, comfort and just downright beautiful. We really enjoyed staying here and plan to come again with more family members. Already loved the area but this home really sets the tone for a wonderful stay no matter what your interest. Even the three Martin houses make it wonderful to sit out on the porch and watch against the backdrop of the sound of the beach. Just beautiful and again very well thought out design of everything!

Perfect Getaway Location!
My husband and I really wanted an easy location for an anniversary getaway but we also wanted to include our dogs. This was 100% the perfect site!! It was so refreshing to walk along the beach, watch the dogs experience the ocean, and leave the screen porch doors open all day listening to the waves and birds while we read books and played card games. The house was clean, cozy and relaxing! It definitely helped me mentally relax and reset. Already looking to go back again next year for a longer stay!

Off season get away
The property was everything we were hoping for and more! We were looking for a short get away with our dogs, to the beach for the first time. Right on the water, everything is set up for a wonderful stay.

Great house!
This is our third visit to this property. We love the house, wonderful layout. Our favorite is the screened porch. Short walk to the beach area. The ferry is great for an day outing. We highly recommend this beautiful place for your next vacation.

Great Trip to Paradise
Wonderful stay at the Soundside Bungalow for an annual fishing trip. My buddy and I brought our familes (4 kids 4 and under and wives) for three nights and had a blast. Beach at Cedar Island is perfect for young kids. Will be back next year. Huge thanks to Allen and Hollie!

Perfect in every way!
29th Anniversary get away. Truly the most relaxing vacation ever. The wind was up during our stay and the waves and blowing sea oats were mesmerizing. Has everything one needs. Just fyi…the stove/griddle was so nice. Will definitely go back!

Tranquility and beauty
We were a group of 7 adults going for a mini family reunion. We have some very particular people in our group but the house was so clean and user friendly that even they didn’t have complaints. Very well stocked kitchen with a lot of pots and band and dishes. The access to the water and that screen porch. One of the best houses we have stayed in by far.

We had a terrific time at this charming sound-side home on Cedar Island. The house worked perfectly for 5 adults with room to cook, read, and best of all, spend hours on the fantastic screen porch. You are only steps from the water which was tranquil and beautiful. Cedar Island is not a traditional beach and it is quite remote. Be prepared. But if you like getting away from the crowds, you may love it as much as we do. Strongly recommend a day trip to Cape Lookout with a rental ATV. We also had a really fun horseback ride at the nearby stable. The house is clean and well equipped. Can’t wait to return!

Another amazing stay
This was our fourth stay at the soundside bungalow. As always the house was spotless, the location is perfect and the beach was amazing. If you’re seeking seclusion, privacy and beautiful views, you simply can not beat this house. We keep coming back because there is truly no other rental that checks all the boxes this one does. This place and Cedar Island have become special to my family and we look forward to everything from the amazing fish at Carteret Catch to friendly conversations with Sherman at Islands choice. Thanks for another amazing stay, we will be back!

unspoiled beach, relaxing vacation at a beautiful home!
This is the third time at this house and again, a wonderful 4 night stay. Highlights: view of the sound, privacy walking on the beach, screened in porch that rarely gets hot, surround sound music throughout the house, very comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen. My son and I and our two dogs spent hours every afternoon on the screened porch playing scrabble, reading, listening to the birds, viewing both the sunrise and sunset each day. Love bringing my good camera here! The other highlight for me was my 90 minute beach ride on horseback! We’ve been to this house in May, end of August and mid September and all these times were beautiful and no mosquitos or sand gnats! We went over to the commercial fishing place, Quality Seafood, and bought the fresh catch of the day, mackerel, for our final dinner there! Until next time!!!!

Great Beach House
Fantastic location, right on the beach. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Pet friendly. Mostly a quiet location apart from the occassional truck and ATVs driving on the beach and parking for the day - one parked right in front of our walkway to the beach! We did have one problem in the house and the owner was very attentive to our request for help. Recommend catching the ferry to Ocracoke for the day. Groceries at Walmart is about an hour's drive from the house. Loved the area but be aware it's very remote (which was perfect for us). The best room of this house is the screened in porch watching the Purple Martins and the Sound.

Wonderful!!
We were looking for a quiet laid back time for Thanksgiving. Found exactly what we wanted! Very clean home with a short walk to the beach. Our 2 little pups enjoyed running on the beach. Before arriving, I was a little worried about the ferry being so close. Had to keep looking to see if they had left, no issue at all! We liked the house so much, we rebooked for next year before we even left!

Peaceful!
We had a great stay! The house was roomy and clean. We had everything we needed. There was a great speaker system set up throughout the house and screened in porch. The best part was the screened in porch for us. We were on the porch the whole time practically if we weren’t on the beach. It was very peaceful and relaxing!

Amazing place
This place is absolutely a dream. This house and the surrounding area was everything we wanted in a vacation and more. I can not say enough good stuff about the owners of the house. Hollie was amazing and in communication with me the whole time. The day we were coming in was a hurricane and she kept us up to date on everything. This is our new family vacation spot for sure. The beach is so nice for small kids along with amazing fishing front out the front door.
