About this property

Casa Toquí in Eldorado - 360 deg. Mountain Views, quiet, peaceful

Relish the serenity of this 3-bedroom Eldorado Community home with mountain views out every window. Casa Toquí is just 16 miles from the exciting activities of downtown Santa Fe. It’s the perfect retreat for your Santa Fe stay if you don’t want to be right in the heart of the city.

Located on 1-1/2 acres, you will find quiet and privacy as well as spectacular views in all directions. Western sunsets are especially breathtaking.

Adobe southwest design, colorful décor and furnishings throughout depict the typical southwestern home. There are viga ceilings in the living room and slate floors throughout.

Great for entertaining, Casa Toquí boasts an open living plan encompassing the kitchen, dining and living spaces. A large picture window in the living room provides a view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the north/east. In the living room you will find a sizeable wood-burning fireplace to provide ambience or extra warmth on a cool evening. In addition to the sofa, furnishings include a comfortable lounge chair and ottoman. Not to be forgotten is the 47” HDTV and DVD/CD/BluRay/Bluetooth stereo with sound bar.

The adjacent dining room seats six comfortably and has a southwestern mountain view toward the Cerrillos Hills.

The kitchen has new appliances including gas stove with convection oven and broiler. All amenities are provided and there is plenty of countertop space for your culinary ventures.

There are 3 bedrooms in total. The master suite is located at one end of the home, while the two additional bedrooms are at the other. The master suite has a king bed, large walk-in closet and overlooks the courtyard and beyond to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Keeping with the theme of views from every window, you can even take in the sights while soaking in the huge tub in the Master bathroom, which includes double sinks and a separate shower.

Moving to the opposite side of Casa Toquí, the colorful second bedroom has a queen bed, views to the southwestern mountains, and plenty of closet space.

The last room is designed for dual use. It is fitted as an office/study, but also has a new full-sized futon with innerspring mattress. The desk is situated with a northeast mountain view. There is also a large closet for clothes or storage.

The hall bath serves both bedrooms and has a single sink and tub with shower.

One of the nice things about New Mexico is that we are able to enjoy the sunlight during all seasons. Spending time outside is something we can do at least 3 seasons of the year. Casa Toquí has a fully-enclosed patio/courtyard off the living room…especially nice if you are bringing your pet. Here you will find a gas BBQ and outdoor seating in spring, summer, and fall.

Amenities include WiFi, washer-dryer, double garage, additional off-street parking, fully-equipped kitchen, gas BBQ, and enclosed courtyard. There is no central air conditioning. However, we have a new portable evaporative cooler and a number of ceiling fans.

Lovely stay in El Dorado

We rented for a month and would have extended a month or two while waiting for our new home to be ready, but unfortunately not available. Though out of town a ways, the walking paths and sun sets are well worth it. The local grocery store is well stocked and easy to access. The staff managing the house were available and easy to work with. A nice place to stay!

Quiet home, close in

Very quiet. Lovely home that it wonderfully appointed. It was far enough out to feel “away from it all” but close enough to easily get to town. Lovely place to walk out at night & see the Milky Way & a sky full of stars. Fill the bird feeders & add water to the fountain & you will be wonderfully entertained while enjoying your morning coffee.

Wonderful Stay!

We vacation in NM every year and this is one of the nicest homes we have had the opportunity to vacation in. It was well maintained, very clean and all the amenities were there waiting for us to utilize. The house is even nicer than the photos. The views were outstanding. It is a great location and is very private. We were able to wake up and take a walk every morning and come back to a fresh pot of coffee and breakfast outside on the back patio. The evening sunsets were spectacular. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back again soon. Enjoy!

Lovely home with gorgeous views

We stayed here for a total of 3 months while we were looking for a house in Santa Fe. The views from all of the rooms are just stunning. Kitchen is well stocked, there are tons of bed and bathroom linens. Everything you need. It was perfect for us and our dogs, including a fenced in outdoor space. Walking around the neighborhood is very quiet and there are bike/walking paths around the corner. Close to a local grocery store and a few restaurants and then a very quick drive to Santa Fe. We loved the area so much we bough our home nearby! The property manager is very on top of any issues and super easy to work with. We highly recommend this home to anyone making a visit to the Santa Fe area.

Perfect family hideaway

Overall, the property lived up to all of our expectations and we would recommend it and return. We grew up in Santa Fe so we were not there for the touristy stuff… Making a location out in Eldorado perfect for us. If you’re there for tourist stuff just remember you’re 20 to 30 minute drive from pretty much everything in town. Closest Gas/groceries are 9 minute drive to El Dorado entrance. Also at entrance UpperCrust pizza worth the price. Closes at 7-8pm so plan early if your not cooking. Most takeout food is in town a minimum 20min drive and many close 8pm so if your not cooking your going to be driving. El Dorado grocery store closes at 9 and has a decent selection of everything you will need, but going to Smiths in town will be less costly if that’s important. We Love the quiet neighborhood, and the fact of the property is near the very south western edge of El Dorado makes it exceptionally quiet… ie no one drives down your road after dark. Gorgeous sunrise, sunset and STARS every day. Property was clean and very pet friendly. Secure yard. 5ft fence Our 70 pound golden retriever was right at home, The kitchen was well stocked and it was nice that there were small items from previous guests like LOTS of spices, and a small amount of coffee and teas. I’m a seasoned VRBO user and it just makes that first morning so much easier if there’s a few things from the previous guest like coffee filters tea coffee etc. A Beds were acceptable, but not amazing. Master king was a memory foam style and pretty well broken in on the edges but not the middle making for odd feeling of two density if you turn over. I’d stay here again but it’s fair to say the bed was the only thing I did not really like at the house. Master bath was amazing. Soak Tub with killer view of sunrise!!! Oversized shower was nice and water was nice and hot. Radiant heated floors makes waking barefoot a nice winter surprise:) Internet functions fine so if you’re needing to connect to the work world you can. Even supported streaming on our laptops at night. TV In living area was slow but we did not use/care. Fireplace inside looked nice but we did not use… Someone did bring extra wood by the house the day after we checked in which was a nice touch although we didn’t use it. Garage allowed us to park full size GMC Yukon inside. The check in process was a pretty standard: pay in full and get email with details for on-site access to property. No off site stop required. Highly recommend.

A magical place to stay

My family stayed at Casa Toqui during the Christmas holiday. We were all impressed with the property. The El Dorado area was wonderful and my husband and I loved the walking trails. The house has both sunrise and sunset views and on our first day we looked outside and there was an amazing rainbow right over the house. The kitchen was very well furnished and we cooked several meals at the house. The in floor radiant heat made the house cozy even during the winter. We enjoyed that it was not in the bustle of Santa Fe, but that might not appeal to some. For us, it was perfect.

Decent property, could use a few improvements

The house and location overall are decent. The neighborbood is quiet, beautiful, and nearby a local market, several restaurants and a brewery. If you want to be close to the square or downtown, this is not the location for you. We enjoyed the quiet away from the hustle and bustle and town was only 20 minutes away. The community pool was great. Overall the house was as pictured, the bed was comfortable and this served as a nice base camp for us to work for a few weeks and enjoy the area. I cannot recommend staying at this house in the summer with out any sort of a cooling system. The house was 85 to 89 degrees by 2pm each day. We were there during a heat wave where outside temps hit 90 or above. In addition, there are not sufficient windowshades in the masterbedroom and the sun comes beaming in at 5 AM. We brought our dogs and initially they loved the yard, but with zero landscaping (not even rock, just dirt), they came in from outside filthy and we were concerned and the house getting dirty. We had to wipe them off each time. Sue the manager and the owners were good to work with. Due to the heat, they did agree to a partial refund of our stay, as we opted to leave a week early

I Love Staying Here!

This house is super comfy, private, and quiet. I come and stay here for weeks at a time to escape the noise, pollution, and crowding that is life in Houston. Sue, the property manager is a dream to work with and makes everything, from booking, to paying, to checking in and out, a total cake-walk. I VRBO all over the country and this is, hands down, one of my favorite places.

Great stay!

The house is a bit outside of town but the neighborhood is very cool and desert-y. The houses are laid out such that you totally feel in your own bubble, and is a great jumping off point for things to do in the area. The house was even better than you can tell from the pictures. The kitchen is Very well appointed and all the rooms are great. This one checks all the boxes!!

Peaceful comfort

We stayed at Casa Toqui for 3 months. The rental was very comfortable and well appointed and I think much better looking than the photos. It has really amazing views and is just incredibly quiet and peaceful. The house itself is about 30 minutes from the Santa Fe plaza, so if you like to be in town the drive could get old. It is however a beautiful drive. Eldorado has great trails, greenbelts and a community preserve that is very well maintained. There is a grocery store in Eldorado that really has everything you need and the prices are really just as good or better than the stores in town. There are also a couple of restaurants nearby and Santa Fe brewing has a taproom at the entrance. We really loved the radiant heat in the winter and saw just a ton of wildlife--including lots of birds and rabbits. The coyotes in Eldorado are not shy, so I would keep a close eye on pets (we saw quite a few just behind the fence at all times of the day). The house is also on one of the few paved streets in Eldorado, so if you are there in the winter you don't have to worry about 4WD or AWD. The only potential issue could be the lack of AC in the summer especially for the guest bedroom that faces south. Most of the homes in Eldorado and Santa Fe do not have AC, but it is something to be aware of especially if there is an unusual warm spell. Overall, I would definitely stay again! The property manager was very east to work with and very responsive to any questions that I had.

Regular New Mexico visitors

We've been coming to NM every year for 30 years but didn't realize Eldorado at Santa Fe existed until we booked Casa Toquí for a month in September. What a great community! The house is very well thought out and will easily accommodate 5 people. With the split bedroom plan there is plenty of privacy for everyone. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils you will need and the local grocery is very good. If you don't want to cook however there is an abundance of good eateries everywhere you look in all price ranges. Not every home in Eldorado has a good view but from Casa Toquí you can see all your favorite mountains in every direction AND spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Eldorado is a "low light" community so at night you will have fabulous celestial views as well. Highly recommended. Pick a time and go.

Corsicana , Texas Folks

We stayed for the months of July and August and found the home to be very comfortable with fantastic mountain views. This is a great place to enjoy the area with a short 20 minute commute to the Santa Fe Plaza. The kitchen was completely stocked beyond our expectations. The restaurant recommendations were great. Don't forget to go to the Pantry for breakfast. Met lots of very nice people in Eldorado during our frequent walks. The water heater went out the second day we were there and was promptly replaced by the property manager's plumber the following day. Would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone visiting the Santa Fe area.

Gorgeous Views!

Charming Casa Toqui was perfect for the two of us and our little dog. Very attractively decorated, it was the best-stocked rental we've ever had. The house was immaculately clean, full of light and so cozy. Radiant heated floors were welcome on crispy mornings, and the patio let us enjoy sunny afternoons. We stayed there for two weeks while we shopped for a house, and it was a great introduction to the quiet, easy pace of Eldorado. We will soon be neighbors, and I definitely plan to recommend Casa Toqui to our friends who want to spend some time in Santa Fe. It's a short 15-20 minutes to restaurants and museums in the city. At Casa Toqui you can have the best of both worlds-city and country-plus gorgeous sunrises and sunsets over the mountains.

Very quiet and peaceful

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Casa Toqui and loved every minute. We wanted to spend some time in Eldorado to see if we might want to retire there. Casa Toqui was very clean and had recently been updated. The kitchen was very modern with all the appliances that you could want, except for a toaster oven, but we brought our own and it was no problem. The neighborhood is very quiet and if you are from a large city, like us, you will find that very relaxing. I really miss being in Eldorado and hope to return soon. We want to retire there. When we arrived, the TV was not set up for high definition. We contacted Sue, who contacted the owner, and within a few days they had arranged for the cable company to upgrade the cable box and dish. There are bird feeders in the back yard that attract a lot of birds and you will frequently see a cottontail rabbit. Casa Toqui is an excellent place to spend a vacation and to make things even better, while we were there Herrada road was paved.

Every detail to truly feel at-home

My husband and I have stayed in vacation rentals for over 10 years, and Casa Toqui was truly one of our best experiences. So many little "nice-to-haves" everywhere we turned - in the kitchen, in the utility room, in the bedrooms, on the patio. Someone has put a lot of thought and heart into creating a wonderful vacation home. This is a beautiful home and well-managed. You'll enjoy every part of the experience. A note to anyone unfamiliar with Santa Fe (we're originally from NM): 1 - If you're looking to relax and take in the beauty of NM, save your money and have a more enjoyable experience by staying outside the plaza (this neighborhood is particularly special). Simply drive and park when you want to visit plaza destinations. 2 - This home like many homes does not have A/C. We stayed in the hottest month of the year, and we were fine. If you're warm-natured and stay during the warm months, bring a small fan to place in the window.

Casa Toqui

Our stay at Casa Toqui was delightful! The views were spectacular and the house was very comfortable. We stayed at the end of July into August so it got a little warm because of no air-conditioning but the nights cooled us off a bit. The TV took a little time to learn how to use because of all of the remotes needed. The bird watching was great and the complimentary birdseed was a nice added touch.
