Bear Heaven

If you love bear sightings this is your place!!!!! We saw multiple bears every single day!!!! Cabin was clean and worked well for the amount of people that went. I would say our let down was that we couldn't swim. 2 of the 3pools closed the day we wanted to go and we couldn't find the 3rd pool. We just found other things to do. The huge table was nice!!!! We would 100% book this cabin again!!!!

Cute property, minor issues but would rent again.

The house is located high up on the mountain and has a very nice view (minor tree obstruction but nothing to complain about). The layout of the house is nice, one bedroom on main floor and two on the ground floor. Our only two complaints is the slightly narrow deck on the main floor (wraps around from the front door to the side facing the view of Gatlingburg) and the fact that when we stayed it was obvious that no one had recently cleaned either deck area. The amount of cobwebs and spiders was a major turn off to spending any time on either deck. While it only took us 10-15 minutes to sweep/clean everything off the lack of attention was fairly obvious by the weathering/fading of the exterior of the spa and of the other chairs/furniture on the decks. Outside of that the property was nice and the interior was clean so not an issue, would consider renting again if we return to Gatlinburg in the future.

Amazing experience

It was everything we wanted for our vacation. Our kids loved the pool table and it was an incredible veiw. Both of the mountains and over Gatlinberg at night. We had a bear get into the trash because my boys forgot to lock it and into my car that my husband forgot to lock. We did not actually see any bears though, which made my kids sad. It was plenty of room for my family of 6 and was equipped with everything we needed. This is our 3rd Tennessee vacation and by far our best cabin yet. We would like to go to this one again in the future.

Definitely encountered bears almost daily. Roads going up to the house including the driveway are gnarly. Not for the faint of heart but gorgeous view of downtown Gatlinburg 😊.

Clean and beautiful views, would suggest more towels for spa and note where fuse box is located as we didn’t realize some fuses were out downstairs / thought lights were broken.

A week in Smokey Mountains with the family

The cabin is tucked away on the Smokey Mountains. About 15 mins down the mountain to Gatlinburg. The roads are narrow and steep, bigger vehicles might have a harder time. Our F350 pickup had a hard time turning in the driveway and often we had to back down the road to let other cars pass. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need (some pans could probably be retired-they've seen better days), we bought a pizza slicer for future guests. :) There was enough towels for all 6 of us, just washed them a few times to reuse. There is a washer and dryer and detergent and softner available. There was enough TP for the week, but I would recommend bringing more paper towels, there was only 1. The hot tub is large enough for 6 people, but also has seen better days. On day 2 we had errors on it, I reached out 3 times during our stay to get someone out to fix it, but no one ever came. We tried to problem solve and clean the filter out, but unfortunately it was a short term fix and the water just got cold. Access to 3 pools in Chalet Village. All were clean and had other things to do there as well (pool tables, tennis courts, foosball table, basketball). Bring your own swim towels. As far as the bears, we saw a minimum of 3 a day! They usually come around 7/8 am and then again around 5/6 pm. One would come to the backyard daily. We saw one open a car door using it's teeth, so make sure you lock your doors! Also, saw one climbing on the back of a pickup truck trying to get it open. The biggest one was about 400 lbs, when we were sitting on the back deck and it started coming towards the steps of the house. Fortunately, our dog noticed first and alerted us, otherwise it may have just joined us for drinks and the view on the back deck! LOL Overall, we loved Tennessee. We loved how the cabin was tucked away in the mountains away from the busy strip. The view was amazing and it had plenty of room for us and our 4 kids. We loved spending nights hanging out playing cards or pool. Suggestions: update hot tub or at least leave extra filters/ chlorine tabs etc. The TVs in the bottom bedrooms did not have remotes, so the channels needed to be changed manually. Maybe leave an info book in the cabin (wifi password, how to use the hot tub, what to do in the event of emergency) We had two bad thunderstorms at night where the lights flickered, maybe some flashlights in case the power goes out. Other than that, thanks for the great memories!

The house was great. We had bears visit every day. The view of Gatlinburg was beautiful.

We had a wonderful family vacation. The ride to town was a bit treacherous. We had bears come up on the deck walked right up to my husband. They were not aggressive thankfully! The kitchen had everything we needed & the master had a very comfy bed.

Up on top of Gatlinburg

Overall we had a great experience and enjoyed the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook all week. The table and couch are huge and easily accommodated us all. Upon arrival two sections of the couch wouldn't recline like they should have so we fixed that. (Hopefully they can stay fixed for awhile for others to enjoy) The cabin is 15 minutes from Gatlinburg straight up the mountain, but we never had any issues getting up or down the mountain. The driveway was fun to learn to navigate and you could see where someone else had messed up trying to get into the driveway and they hit the light post. For us and our bigger SUV we learned it was much easier to slightly pull into the driveway across from ours to back down into ours. The hot tub and pool table were a nice touch for have in the evenings after we had returned from town. The hot tub is older and missing all the head rests but not a big deal. However, you can see where the lack of maintenance is occurring on the back deck around the hut tub the most. The outside of the hot tub is greatly deteriorating and there is a lot of evidence or a wood eating insect eating at the outside of the hot tub and deck around the hot tub. You can tell this isn't a new issue by how deteriorated things are and by some of the size of the holes. There is a baseball size hole in the corner closet to the door under the front corner of the hot tub. The other downside for us, was how muggy the lower level got. We got a decent amount of rain off and on all week and you can feel the moisture on the lower lever. Something a dehumidifier could easily fix. Now for the bears!! I was pretty excited about seeing bears at the cabin based off of others reviews. We saw a few throughout the week on our trips up and down the mountain, but didn't have one come to the cabin until right as we were leaving. We loaded the SUV, strapped the kids in their carseats to run back in to grap the trash only to open the front door to see a bear standing on the back of my SUV. I booked it back inside, locked the door and grabbed the keys to ensure my SUV was also locked. I tried setting off my car alarm to scare the bear away but he only walked up onto the front porch. After a few minutes he walked back down to my SUV again and again I set off the car alarm. This time the bear ran off. I ran probably the fastest I ever have to put the trash in the bins and back to the SUV for us to leave. Fun and terrifying!

Grand View says it all

Everything about our stay at Grand View was great. It looked just as pictured, I went off of recent reviews so there were no surprises. The cabin was beautiful and the view was spectacular. We had at least one bear come to our cabin everyday, one came a little too close for comfort the first day and tried getting in the front door, we caught him in time but forgot to lock our car doors and left our cooler outside so he stole our cooler and got into our car. Lesson learned! I was able to scare it off but he was a big boy of at least 400 pounds! The rest were smaller. We just kept our guard up after that and stood guard whenever we grilled because they will come when you cook! The only downside was the pools weren’t open yet and the top bunk is really hard but we brought a mattress topper for our daughter otherwise you probably couldn’t sleep on it alone. The rest of the beds were fine tho. The pool table was alot of fun and the hot tub was perfect. Couldn’t beat the location, so close to town while still being deep in the mountain. I will miss this place, we didn’t want to leave! Would definitely come again.

Beautiful Views!

We all had a wonderful time in Gatlinburg and the cabin is so close to everything, but still has beautiful views of the mountains and at night, the lights of the city. The hot tub was also large enough to fit all 6 of us, and we totally enjoyed our stay!

nice and relaxing stay

Cute little cabin with all your needs. Outside can use a little tlc and a few minor things like maybe having a cutting board or providing an extra roll of paper towel and dish soap would be nice other than that no complaints hot tub was nice and ready the first day we got there.

Beautiful Views

Quiet, serene, away from the crowds. View from decks were gorgeous. Hot tub felt great. The drive up the mountain is steep and very slick in the rain. You are tucked in the mountains and will see bear walk right beside the cabin. The bugs are terrible right now. We couldn’t sit on the deck for long. The kitchen is well stocked and making meals was easy. Communication with property management is very easy.

Bug infested

Positive items: 1- we saw bears even next to the house. 2- kitchen was nice sized and had what we needed to cook 3- hot tub and pool table were nice 4- den had plenty of room for us 5- view is nice Bad 1- during our stay in July 2021, the basement we over run by small worms. Even on the ceilings. We killed probably a hundred of them. When we informed the management company and property manager, we were told there was nothing they could do. They came out and sprayed 3 times. Apparently when it’s hot, these small harmless bugs come inside. They were on the ceilings and floor. While they were very nice and did offer me a small discount on the price, I personally got a hotel room and let my family who wasn’t bothered by ‘nature’ stay. I understand you are in the woods. But that was just too much. I provided pictures to the manager. 2- do not drive a large truck up the mountain or the driveway… best way is to back down and not pull in forward. It’s quite steep. 3- we had a mouse and some roaches… we contacted them in weds and Friday am they came and left traps Tips: 1- lock your car or they said bears can come in (while we were there… someone I met downtown said a bear tore up a neighbors car since they left it unlocked) 2- the road going up is very steep and small! The property manager and management company were nice and polite. I feel bad for writing this and it may just be a one off experience,.

At first scary drive. Outside patio had cobwebs everywhere. There were lots of millipedes inside

The hot tub didn't get hot. The millipedes were everywhere inside the cabin. And patio was covered in cobwebs. We did however enjoy the cabin it was beautiful. But some things to work on and better outside up keep.

Beautiful View!

Overall we had a great stay at Grand View. The view was beautiful! We enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. The house was clean and in good order. We enjoyed access to the pools and had our pizza delivered right there for dinner. Only issue was the top bunk of the bunk beds. Totally inadequate. The mattress is held up by 2 very thin wires. Very uncomfortable even for an 8 year old. She slept on the futon instead. I contacted the property management company on our 2nd day but no one ever got back to me. It would be an easy fix to make it much more sturdy and comfortable.
