Very clean- simple- ample room ...
We enjoyed our bungalow on the North Shore. It was comfortable clean and enjoyable. There is s bit of traffic from the road you hear at all times. Other than that... we enjoyed it very much. Air conditions was a plus.

Perfect Place
I love this location! We stayed here before, years ago. The beaches are a hop, skip and a jump.

Ok but not for families wit kids
Our experience was ok but not what we were hoping for. The beach was close by and that was nice but the waves were too strong for young kids. The house wasn’t stocked as well as we had had in past home rentals so we were judging off that. For example, no oils or spices for cooking. Not even salt and pepper or sugar. Everything smelled of mildew. It was just hard having to sleep in a bed that smelled and after shower towels that smelled. There were lizards in the house at several different times which didn’t really bother us but might someone else. I had to buy some laundry detergent to do a load of laundry (outside) and I actually left a few pods for future use for someone. I bought a dish sponge because it smelled awful too. The traffic was extremely loud and bright at night. Not the best for kids trying to sleep. Even with white noise it was loud. The floors are very creaky as well. Again, not the best for sleeping kids. No vents in the kitchen or bathroom which prob aids the mildew situation and one of the beds in the room had mold all over the bed skirt. Shower looked like black mold in the grout too. It wasn’t a terrible stay but we did want to check out early. Again, take this all from someone with two kids under 4 so that played a big part in our discomfort. We spent 4 days here and headed to Aulani. We wanted to experience both the country and a resort stay and I think we achieved that!

WE LOVED our Perfect Surf Cottage on the North Shore!
This accommodation was perfect for our family! It was light, airy, styled beautifully, spacious, private and comfortable. We enjoyed being able to walk or ride bikes to the beach, Ted's Bakery & Pipeline. We enjoyed the deck for breakfast and evening meals. The kitchen, laundry and bathroom were well set up. The North Shore area was lovely - nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The traffic on the highway outside our cottage was busy during the day... but quiet at night. Great to have car parking available and we appreciated the fenced yard. Totally recommend this accommodation for families and groups looking for an affordable holiday in Hawaii!

Nice old school Hawaii plantation style home!
House was updated recently and clean. Directly across the street from a sweet surf spot and mostly secluded beach. Excellent!

This place is perfect!!!!
We fully enjoyed our stay at this house across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu!!The place was exactly as described, clean, convenient, quiet and in a great location. It was just me and a good friend staying there for a week, but the place is perfect for families too. We bumped into the owner on the last day and he’s probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met! It is located right on Kam highway, so there is a little bit of road noise , but it didn’t phase us!!! Highly recommend this place!! Oh yeah, it’s got the BEST outdoor shower I’ve ever stood under!!🤙🤙🤙

Lovely Bungalow
This bungalow was easy to find and perfectly located across the road from the beach. Beds really comfortable and enjoyed the board games. A little noisy from being close to the highway but this did not bother us. Thankyou.

Great location close to the beach! With a/c!
Everything we needed was there! We contacted Heather once about something we needed and it was there that day. There is a window unit in the living room that helps cool the whole house. They have towels and beach mats there to use. We got lucky and someone had also left a small ice chest. It was great for traveling on the road and to the beach. Beware of Ted's Bakery near by!! lol, we all gained a few extra pounds eating there! It is beyond awesome! Hope we get to go back someday!

Perfectly chill location, comfy cottage
This cottage was absolutely perfect. Plenty of room for three adults. The beach is literally just a 3 minute walk and it was almost always nearly empty. We loved having drinks on the front porch and looking at the stars. It was so convenient to be able to have food at the house so we didn't have to interfere with our beach time--at least not much. Beach, walk home for lunch, back to beach. Repeat. There aren't a ton of restaurant options within reasonable driving distance anyway, so it was perfect. The cottage itself was super clean, sunny, perfectly appointed and Heather was very responsive and sympathetic when we had no clue the washer & dryer would be located outside. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants a convenient, clean, comfortable place to stay on the North Shore. Thanks for having us, Heather!

Happy on the North Shore
Awesome stay. Heather very prompt with any questions or issues we had. Basic accommodation, but was what we needed. Location right across the road from a cool, unpopulated beach. Really enjoyed our stay at our surf cottage!

Clean house in a great location
This house was just right for our family. It was a no frills place, but just what we needed. It was bigger than I expected from the pictures, and my kids loved the yard. The kitchen was well stocked. We were so close to everything we wanted to see and do. The only downside was the noise from the highway.

A great place to stay on the North Shore
This two bedroom unit is across the road from one of the best beaches to view the sunset from on the North Shore. It's up towards the east end of the north shore and is a little quieter than the a few miles to the west. It was a great launching pad. Also, nice and close to Ted's Bakery. The two-bedroom unit suited our four person family and the kitchen had everything needed. A great outdoor shower and washing facilities too. Would recommend to other families.

Perfect!
It's been awhile since we stayed but wanted to write a review! We lo9ved this little place and wanted to re-book it for 2017 but it's booked up :( It worked perfect for the four of us. One couple and two friends so the separate beds in the second room worked well. (great for kids too). We road the bikes to town and could walk to the beach. It was great! Had one issue with toilet but owners fixed same day while we were out. Want to come back!

Great experience!
Our family really enjoyed our time and stay at the cottage. We stayed in unit B and it was just perfect. Loved the location and have absolutely no complaints. The newly installed AC was unexpected and a great addition! I wasn't able to find the hairdryer but realized we didn't really need it. Book this place now and you wouldn't regret it!

Exactly what we were looking for on the North Shore
Kai/Heather were so responsive. First and foremost in any stay, that is my number one. Its their home/property and I feel like if I had any questions that they would be on top of them quickly. Top notch. Our little family LOVED the feeling of the North Shore. The slow life. The 'hawaiian way'. The house was simple and we loved it. If you are looking for amenities this is not your place. But for us, this cottage was exactly what we were looking for. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars. And would TOTALLY stay and recommend it to anyone.

Avoiding the crowds
The Surf Cottage is a great place to stay. The North Shore is low key and not overpopulated in the summer. Great place for kids with the beach 5 minutes away. Heather and Kai brought us extra sheets and gave us tips on where to go exploring. Great shrimp tacos from the food trucks. If you're looking to avoid the high rise hotels and to experience Hawaii more like the Hawaiians do, we recommend the North Shore and especially theSurf Cottage.

Great North Shore location!
We loved this place! Kai and Heather were wonderful and really took care of everything! It is located at the end of North Shore, so far less crowded than other areas. The beach across the street is beautiful and was almost always deserted. It was perfect for snorkeling! The house was very clean and worked well for the 2 of us and our 2 teenage children. Plenty of room! Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook. There was an issue with the fridge not working, but it was taken care of right away with a new fridge! There is no AC, which is pretty common on the island, but with the windows and doors open and the fans blowing, it really wasn't a problem. The Kam Hwy can be a bit busy (and noisy), making getting into the parking area a little tricky at times, but really not an issue at all. In walking distance to Ted's Bakery, so that was nice! The boogie boards and bicycles were a great bonus! The area is really laid back. Great experience all the way around. We will definitely stay here again if we ever make it back to the island and will surely recommend to others!

Classic North Shore property
We loved this place. It is located at the end of the main North Shore beach area, so it is far less crowded than the Haleiwa, Waimea and Ehukai areas (especially on weekends) but still convenient to everything. Also, the beach across the highway is lovely and was just about deserted every time we went there (and is apparently a great surf spot when the waves are up). The property itself is a classic Hawaii house, not fancy and probably not for people wanting an antiseptic tourist experience, but my wife, two teenage children and I loved it. Plenty of space with Comfortable beds, a nicely updated bathroom, outdoor showers, a nice front lanai, a decently outfitted kitchen, and a washer and dryer which were crucial after 10 days of traveling. Visitors need to be aware that there is no AC, but we were just fine with keeping the windows open and the ceiling and box fans running. And yes, the neighborhood chickens rose earlier than we might have wanted to, but it's the country, so you have to get used to it. The entrance is right off the Kam Highway, so there's some traffic noise and the parking space can be a bit tricky to get in and out of with heavy traffic, but that's truly a minor hassle. The only drawback that I could really find was the refrigerator/freezer in the B unit seems to be nearing the end of its life and didn't keep things very cold (i.e. beer!). To summarize, if you want the real North Shore experience instead of the Hawaii vacation that the big hotel chains make you think you want, this is the place for you. Honestly, our biggest complaint is that we wish we could have spent longer here and less time among the tourist throng in Waikiki. Aloha!

Great location on the north shore
The house was in a great location in the north shore. It was as described and worked well for our family of four. We were very comfortable. The unit was well stocked with everything needed to cook in the kitchen. We appreciated the beach chairs and boogie board that were available for use. The beach across the street had nice waves for surfing, and some nice snorkeling. We were able to do both! I would definitely come back.

Everything we hoped for!!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the cottage with another couple for 4 nights and it was lovely. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful beach, just a couple minutes walk from the front door. We loved being able to rinse off in the outdoor shower after a day in the ocean and relax on the front porch. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything we needed to cook a meal, but we were also very close to many North Shore food trucks and the amazing Ted's bakery. This was the perfect place for a relaxing beach vacation, thank you for making our trip so enjoyable!

Great stay in The Perfect Surf Cottage!
My family and I stayed in the Surf Cottage (Unit A) for a week earlier this month. I can't say enough good things about this property and Heather. It is everything as advertised and then some. The property is a duplex with very handy parking right in front of the house. I will say it isn't the easiest to find initially, at night, but that is kind of to be expected. As the name implies "Perfect Surf Cottage", it is just that...a surf cottage...not a surf mansion or a surf palace...it is a cottage...everything you need to have an awesome time in the laid back North Shore. Close proximity to Foodland grocery store and the best breakfast/bakery place you will ever find anywhere, North Shore legendary Ted's Bakery. Directly out in front of the cottage and across Kam Hiway is beach access that is a pedestrian only walkway that opens onto a fantastic beach named Velzyland. We are a family of 4 relatively tall people, the shortest is 5'-9" and the tallest is 6-5", we had plenty of room without being on top of each other. My wife's favorite thing was the outdoor shower. My younger son had a love hate relationship with the chicken family that lived on the premises...he has the rooster's crow saved on his I phone. My older son and wife did a shark dive out of Haleiwa "One Ocean Diving" that Clark Little recommends. I loved the whole cottage, especially the day geckoes and anoles that run amuck all over the place. The house is clean and well kept and was everything I wanted...not too nice...not to shabby...just right for the North Shore and a total relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for that country North Shore Vibe and I sure hope to stay here again. Thanks, BW

Surger Cottage steps from the Beach!
Our family of 6 stayed on "side B" in July. We all fit comfortably, using the 3 beds plus a sleeping mat in the closet. There were no extra sheets and after asking, Heather (and her husband) found some for us right away! Also during our stay the washing machine stopped working and they replaced that right away! We so appreciate their responsiveness. Highlights of the cottage: steps from a quiet beach (crossing the busy road so be careful!) The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed; neighbors friendly and quiet; enjoyed drinking coffee on the front "lanai" every morning. :) And, a 10 minute walk to Ted's Bakery. We also like the way the place was decorated. We look forward to staying here again!

Comfortable cottage across from beautiful beach!
Our family of 5 enjoyed this beach cottage during the summer when the north shore is a snorkeler's paradise. The water was clear, warm and calm, with a small outside reef break. Great snorkeling conditions and overall perfect beach weather for lounging, SUP'ing, etc. A twin bed and queen bed in "kids" room worked for us, but the master bed is saggy. There's also a small couch that our kids loved stretching out on in the living room. We would rebook in a second, because there's a quiet little beach across the (sometimes busy) street. Kitchen is well stocked and the shower & laundry outside was much appreciated. We loved the beach vibe and comfort of this cozy house, and it's in an ideal location on the North Shore. Thanks to the manager Heather for her helpfulness (found lost sunglasses) and overall responsiveness.
