We loved this place. It is located at the end of the main North Shore beach area, so it is far less crowded than the Haleiwa, Waimea and Ehukai areas (especially on weekends) but still convenient to everything. Also, the beach across the highway is lovely and was just about deserted every time we went there (and is apparently a great surf spot when the waves are up).
The property itself is a classic Hawaii house, not fancy and probably not for people wanting an antiseptic tourist experience, but my wife, two teenage children and I loved it. Plenty of space with Comfortable beds, a nicely updated bathroom, outdoor showers, a nice front lanai, a decently outfitted kitchen, and a washer and dryer which were crucial after 10 days of traveling.
Visitors need to be aware that there is no AC, but we were just fine with keeping the windows open and the ceiling and box fans running. And yes, the neighborhood chickens rose earlier than we might have wanted to, but it's the country, so you have to get used to it. The entrance is right off the Kam Highway, so there's some traffic noise and the parking space can be a bit tricky to get in and out of with heavy traffic, but that's truly a minor hassle. The only drawback that I could really find was the refrigerator/freezer in the B unit seems to be nearing the end of its life and didn't keep things very cold (i.e. beer!).
To summarize, if you want the real North Shore experience instead of the Hawaii vacation that the big hotel chains make you think you want, this is the place for you. Honestly, our biggest complaint is that we wish we could have spent longer here and less time among the tourist throng in Waikiki. Aloha!
