Step into the enchanting world of Le Cireysou, a meticulously renovated old farmhouse that beautifully blends original features with modern-day comforts. The spacious rooms, inviting terraces, lush garden, and refreshing pool create an idyllic setting for a truly relaxing family holiday. Whether you seek tranquility or quality time together, Le Cireysou offers the perfect environment to unwind and create lasting memories. Experience the seamless fusion of old-world charm and contemporary living at Le Cireysou farmhouse.

User
The traditional stone-built farmhouse stands in its own private grounds of over 1 acre, and comes complete with its own large enclosed private swimming pool (16*7M). Close to the historic town of Bergerac, on the edge of Pecharmant vineyards, it is a prime base from which to visit all the touristic places of interest in the Dordogne as well as the Percharmant, Monbazillac and Bordeaux vineyards.

Le Cireysou has been renovated in a manner that provides all the comforts of modern life yet retains the original charm and character of the original 300 year old farm building.

The farmhouse stands at the end of a quiet country lane with little to disturb you other than the nearby cows and occasional tractor.

The house itself stands in its own grounds with lots of trees and grass for the children to explore and a wonderfully large swimming pool sufficient for the most ardent swimmer or sun lounger!

Grounds & Swimming pool: The house is surrounded by local farmers fields providing a very peaceful and relaxing environment rich in wildlife. The grounds around the house cover 6000m2 so there is plenty of space to play games (football, cricket, table tennis etc.) on the grass or to lie under one of the many trees.

The swimming pool is 16m long by 7m wide and ranges from 1-2m deep which makes it a very large and enjoyable pool in which to swim. Fully surrounded with decking on all 4 sides. Situated approx 6m from the house the pool area is completely enclosed and private with a patio area and covered terrace with table tennis table. To prevent any allergies we have chosen a water treatment without chlorine which is provided through a salt machine system. We are environmental friendly and we only use organic pest killers (where absolutely necessary) and no weed killers.

Wine Tasting & 'Cuisine Perigourdine': Le Cireysou lies at the crossroads of the Bergerac, Monbazillac and Pecharmant vineyards. Pecharmant is the most prestigious Bergerac Appellation Controlee and is fast becoming a sort after wine. If you prefer sweet wine, then head straight to the vineyards of Monbazilliac. A visit to the famous Chateau Monbazilliac is an absolute must and maybe you can even combine it with one of their summer concerts. Locals will be happy to explain the vinification process and show you their cellars which have been in their family for generations and maintained with great love and care. You are also only 1 hour away from the stunningly picturesque medieval village of Saint-Emilion and within easy access of many other famous Bordeaux vineyards.

Do not forget to enjoy the famous “Cuisine Perigourdine” making the most of the region's duck population - the 'foie gras' is to die for! 'Magret' is also excellent on the BBQ! We can recommend local producers if you wish.

Dordogne touristic attractions : The property is situated close to the Dordogne river. You can follow the river up to Sarlat (60 minutes) and visit some beautiful places enroute: Beynac & Cazenac, Domme and its ramparts, La Roque Gageac and Sarlat itself.

Some outstanding features at Le Cireysou!
- high ceilings with wooden beams in the traditional Perigoudine architecture
- a large outdoor shaded terrace with view of the garden and swimming pool
- large grounds with various tree species, ideal to play cricket, football or just relax under
- very large pool with salt water to reduce the risk of allergies and the impact on the environment
- the pool is surrounded by a composite wood decking, made out of min 60% recycled wood fibers and low impact polypropylene.
- the house is furnished in a traditional way with old Perigourdine furniture
- large fireplace in the living room where stories used to be told
- above the living room, there is a spacious mezzanine where the tobacco leaves used to dry, to read, rest or watch television
- a stunning stone external staircase leads to what used to be the kitchen, now a large bedroom with an 'oeil de boeuf' (round window) above the old stone sink. Food was cooked in the large fireplace.
- the house has now been fitted with a large kitchen with breakfast bar separating a dining area from the preparation area.
- the kitchen has terracotta tiles on the floor which have been made locally and were the traditional flooring in Perigord.
- we have equipped the house with robust outdoor furniture made from Indian teak, so that you can enjoy and relax in a luxury environment.
- a large outdoor permanent BBQ has been fitted for you to combine gourmet French food and outdoor life. In the long summer evenings it is nice to sit and relax around an aperitif on the terrace whilst the meat is cooking.
- A special wine barrel to stand around a glass of wine
- the bedrooms are large with their original wooden floor and wooden beams.
- we are very environmentally conscious: the house is fully equipped with LED lights, we don't use any pesticide or fertilisers.

The lovely Dordogne
Le Cireysou is a lovely old house set in a large garden. We did enjoy our stay despite a few drawbacks. The area is quiet apart from a little traffic to local houses. There is a charming village two minutes drive away with shops, friendly bar with pool table etc. Easy access to lovely villages along the Dordogne The house itself could do with a little maintenance. We had been looking forward to the lovely pool, the main reason we had chosen this property. The pool guy/gardener informed us it had been damaged by the previous tenants. This meant cold water ran consistently to top up the pool. The pool ladders were broken, the liner uneven and the decking quite dangerous. The book of house rules informed us that we were expected to clean the house and replace used things. The previous tenants had not taken this to heart. Crockery and utensils needed a wash before use. Bed linen didn’t smell clean. We had been promised dish washer tablets which were missing and NO LOO ROLLS! After a long journey this would have been very welcome. There were a few maintenance issues which didn’t bother us greatly but for the rental price, you would expect them to be fixed. For example, flooding outside the kitchen window when water was used. The outside dining table had a problem with falling beetle debris from above. The main bathroom had a problem with water channelling along the shower edge onto the carpet which was rotting. Reception for TV is none existent. WIFI is poor. We have stayed in old buildings before but there was something very large Coypu ? above the bedrooms, in the loft. My son had to change room because of the noise so he could get some sleep. This all sounds rather damming but we did enjoy our stay and for want of a little maintenance and care, this could be a really fabulous holiday. We were disappointed and thought that it wasn’t value for money.

Fabulous property
Not having been for a couple of years, we had forgotten just how amazing this place is with its charm and character combined with modern appliances to make it a real home from home. The swimming pool was an absolute godsend during the recent heat wave. Nice new shower too in the main bathroom.

Peaceful Relaxing visit to the beautiful Dordogne
Our party of 6 have stayed here before and had a wonderful holiday. The Mouleydier/Bergerac area is so peaceful with stunning views of the Dordogne and surrounding region. The property had the old world charm that you would expect of a 300 year old farmhouse but with all the modern facilities needed nowadays. Everywhere was spotless and well maintained with plenty of brochures and advice on what to do and where to go in the region - but as I said, we have been there before and the high standards were maintained. The property is within easy driving distance of the airport, Mouleydier village and Bergerac town as well as other fascinating towns and scenery. A very enjoyable and peaceful stay and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone considering visiting the region.

Fantastic Family Holiday
As a family of five, with young children, we stayed for two weeks in July '16 and had a wonderful time... so much so that we shall be returning this summer for our annual vacation. The farmhouse & location is wonderfully rustic and offers the perfect setting to spend time together. Swimming, table tennis and barbeques were particularly popular!

Great place to spend some time in the garden
We enjoyed the location and the trips across the Perigord region. The garden and pool are lovely and the outdoor area offers a great place to have bbqs and sit out. Inside more could be done to make the rooms more comfortable (beds are not great). Overall we enjoyed our stay but could have done with a better night's sleep.

Wonderful !
A perfect place for a family holiday - the house is full of character, comfortable and easy to feel very much at home, yet very much in France. Well equipped and clean, we wanted for nothing and our hostess was always most accomodating and helpful with all my annoying queries beforehand. We had a lovely days just lazing around the pool & playing in the garden, but also exploring the local area - great caves and medieval towns, and plenty of activities to take part in - canoeing, walking. Spoilt for choice each day, we only scratched the surface and would definitely like to make a return visit!

Excellent stay
We spent 3 amazing days in this old farmhouse. The place is amazing with a huge garden. We spent most of the time outside enjoying the garden to play soccer, cricket, archery and ping-pong. The terrasse is really nice for all lunch. Weather allowed us to have breakfast on the terrasse. Bergerac is only 15 min from the house and is really accessible. Everything you need is available in the area, a supermarket is located 5min from the house by bike. The house is well furnished and was clean. Bathrooms are big enough and clean. We will come back !!! Thanks for this nice stay.

Great estate, giant pool and park!
We spent five days in this marvellous renovated farmhouse, very charming; secluded (no direct neighbours) and all amenities provided. We were 9, including 5 children, but this house can clearly host more, especially if you use the mezzanine as an extra room. The owners had left everything needed for the kitchen and outdoors activities, very friendly couple, the house was clean and the interior is clean and not cluttered. The unique feature of the property is the *enormous* pool, it has an Olympic size and the kids (9-15 yrs) loved it. Full depth, so for smaller kids luckily it is fenced and in the garden. The park-like garden is also great for all kind of sports; it is largely a lawn that we used for soccer and cricket. Surroundings are beautiful, the village next door is cute, but it is the region as such that draws the attention: very close to the vineyards and the scenic castles of Dordogne. After touring a full day, it was great to relax at this spacious and peaceful estate, enjoying a BBQ and a glass of good wine without traffic and noise around. Restaurants nearby seem OK but not more, we went to Bergerac (15-20 min) for a better selection. Clearly to be recommended, we will return next year if the schedule permits.

Haven of peace in stunning region
Spent a lovely sunny long weekend with family and friends in this charming house, lots of space for children to run about safely in the garden, everything we needed to cook and enjoy meals outside on the terrace. There is a huge swimming pool so it would have been possible just to chill out at the property but we managed to fit in a day out in the Vezere valley canoeing and visiting a prehistoric site (see www.vezerevalley.info) and tasted wine at a few local chateaux..recommend the Sunday morning market in the medieval village of Issigeac but we have only scratched the surface of all there is to see in this area..We will be back!

Pleasant and restful stay
Stay in "le Cireysou" This farmhouse decorated in the traditional "Perigourdin style" is very welcoming, surrounded by a beautiful shaded garden where there is enough space to play various outdoor games : football, cricket, petanque...... The large pool (16x8m) is very enjoyable and with secured access for the children. Quiet and peaceful location, in the middle of the coutryside : in the summertime you can sit in the garden and enjoy watching the wheat harvest, which we very much enjoyed. The interior of the house is also very spacious with different levels and beautiful ceilings. The village (800 yards away) has all the amenities : supermarket, bakery, bucher, cafe........ We had a very pleasant and restful stay.

Excellent. Spacious, peaceful and cool.
The location was perfect for ourselves, daughter and family. Rural and quiet with a very large grass garden and a short distance to drive to shops, bars etc. The view from our bedroom over the sunflowers in full bloom was fantastic. The house itself has bags of character and was very cool and spacious. Everything you need is there, but this is someone's home, so don't expect pristine, 5 star hotel standards. Having such a large pool was wonderful and the family spent many hours in it, or sitting outside near the barbeque which was very well used. We spent several days just being there. A car is a must however and we made local visits to a village Fete, a village antiques fair, as well as the towns of Bergerac, Perigoux and Lalinde. There's plenty to do for the kids. Especially a water park at Lac de Neufont, to the north and water sports on the Dordogne at Tremolat. Both only 30 mins away and having wonderful picnic areas. Close by, Lanquais has a very nice restaurant (the only one in the village) and there is a good choice in Lalinde, which also has a very good weekly market. We would certainly recommend this property to a friend..

We had a lot of fun in this cottage surrounded by a beautiful park. The house is cool in the summer - which was very appreciated because temperatures rose to 37 degrees celsius - spacious and well decorated. The weather was so nice that we spent most of our time in the pool! We have excellent memories of this private, intimate and very comfortable holiday cottage and we look forward to coming back again very soon.

I was very impressed with the farmhouse and ground
We loved the authenticity of it all. The pool is an added bonus, especially after a 15 minute walk into the village for lunch and stroll by the river, to cool off. There are lots of places to visit for historical or shopping days. If you prefer to eat at the farmhouse the kitchen is well equipped also a great bbq for outdoor dining. We will be back.

Beautiful property in a stunning location
The house and gardens are very impressive. It is spacious, well laid out and is the ideal location for families with children to share. If you like to eat outdoors, this is the perfect spot. There is a large brick- built BBQ and the patio area provides ample shade for eating outside throughout the day and evening. There is lots for the children to do with an extremely large swimming pool, table tennis on the surrounding decking area and large lawns which lends itself to numerous outdoor activities. There are two bakeries and a lovely cafe in the local village where you can eat a set meal at lunch time for a very reasonable price which includes wine. If you choose to eat there, ensure you have a light breakfast as the portions are very generous not to mention the numerous courses. If you want to travel further afield there are several beautiful towns and villages dotted along the banks of the dordogne all within reasonable daily travelling distance. Bergerac is also only about 30 minutes away where you will find a larger selection of shops and restaurants. In summary, a beautiful property in a stunning location where the children can play safely in the grounds and the adults can relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

RUSTIC CHARM IN THE DORDOGNE
Just back from our fabulous holiday in the Dordogne. We fell in love with the old rustic style of the old tabacco farm with traditional beams throughout the internal living spaces, and old leather sofas. We didn’t get to try the huge fireplace, but thought this might be an asset in the Winter. Having young children, the spacious garden was a blessing - large enough to play and hide. The salt -treated pool was a delight to swim in to avoid ‘chlorine eyes’, and the new table tennis table was a welcome challenge for the little ones and grown-ups alike. The location was minutes by car from the Dordogne and the village of Mouleydier, where you can buy daily essentials with stops for café on the way home, not forgetting the baguette dispenser walking distance from the house, which was a novelty. At just 10 minutes drive to Bergerac, we were able to stock up at the large supermarkets on the outskirts of town, and frequented the many local artisan shops, and traditional open air local marche. Being so close to the wine routes, was a definite plus for us and the scenic towns of Cadouin, and Beynac were a must for the tourist trail. The convenient location meant we never had to travel too far to visit the quaint old villages and fabulous scenery.

Stunning pool, house full of character
Lots of plus points but all some negatives:- Positives - 1) beautiful looking house full of character, downstairs is fine - kitchen is good and sofas in lounge very comfortable, mezzaine area great. 2) pool is huge and fantastic (though water surprisingly cold for August but maybe that's just me being wimpy). House spotlessly clean and grassy areas well kept and large. 3) 7 minute walk to next village to bread vending machine which was great (never seen one of those before - fantastic). Great croissants in Mouleydier every morning and great pizza there too in the evenings. 4) Really short drive from the airport, very handy location. Negatives - 1) bedrooms and bathrooms are somewhat basic and tired and mattress in double room with staircase was SO uncomfortable, I could feel the springs in my back. I had to turn it over, better then but still not comfortable. 2) There is only one serviceable shower, the one in bathroom over the bath is impossible to use without drenching the matting on the floor. The ensuite is tiny though the shower is fine. 3) Emails from owner were very prompt and helpful at time of booking but noticeably less prompt after payment. Took almost 3 weeks to respond to simple email and only then when I chased for a response. 4) I was surprised at the lack of basic information at the house for guests. There were masses of leaflets of tourist places but nothing useful like how to find nearest supermarket and opening times, recommended restaurants etc (make sure you ask this by email before departure). 5) I was also surprised that no pool inflatables were provided. In our experience of other properties with private pools, lilos etc are provided. 6) You need to speak good french - the lovely housekeeper speaks no english and the absence of any useful information in the house means you would have to ask her by phone if you had any questions. 7) The property description states the River Dordogne is 'a few hundred yards' away; it may be as the crow flies but not by foot/road. Also, it takes much longer to get to Sarlat than the 45 mins stated. In August traffic the drive was no fun. Summary: Overall I don't think the property is worth the high season rate; for £1700 plus 80 euros, and in comparison with other similar holiday rentals we've stayed in, this one needs more work on behalf of the owners to justify the cost but it wouldn't take much work to make it wonderful.
