Groznjan is both a municipality and a beautiful medieval town. Groznjan is known as the 'artists' village', as in the warm summer months the whole town comes to life and becomes one of the most important cultural centers in Croatia. It is the ideal vacation destination for all art lovers. There are numerous galleries and studios in the city. The jazz festival 'Jazz is back!' takes place every year at the end of July. At the end of September, the city is transformed into a huge work of art. More than 300 artists from all over Europe gather to exhibit their works of art. This festival is known as 'Ex Tempore'. The town's buildings are made of limestone, which was also used as a permanent architectural building material in Trieste, Budapest and Vienna. Groznjan offers a beautiful view of the Mirna river valley to the south and the medieval town of Motovun and Mount Ucka to the east.
