House by the lake - Kuća RiO - House by the water, Iberian finca in Dalmatia

Our Kuća RiO is an approximately 90sqm large and spacious holiday home and resembles the Iberian Fincas in its architecture. Therefore there is no hall or corridor, so you enter each room through a separate door. Kuća RiO is designed for 6 people, so it is ideal for two families with children or 6 friends. There are 3 air-conditioned bedrooms, two of which are on the upper floor.
There is also a living room-kitchen, a bathroom and another toilet.
All bedrooms are functionally furnished and each has two single beds, which are arranged side by side and therefore look like double beds. The interior of each bedroom is completed by two bedside tables with lamps, wardrobes, shoe shelves, mirrors and fans.
This kitchen-living room is fully equipped with a large and a small refrigerator, each including a freezer compartment, a dishwasher, an oven with hobs, coffee machines, kettle, mobile double hotplate, various electric pans and much more. In addition, there is a pantry in the living room-kitchen as well as an electronic heating system, which makes watching satellite TV more comfortable on cold days.
In the bathroom, which consists of a toilet, washbasin, shower cubicle with shower, mirror and base cabinet, there is a washing machine and a hair dryer.
You can also look forward to an outdoor shower with hot water boiler, while on the upper floor you can use another bathroom, which has a toilet, washbasin and wall cupboard.
In addition to these rooms, two large terraces belong to our Kuća RiO. On the lower terrace there is a large, individually made dining table made of grouted tiles with a long bench and various chairs, which invites you to linger. From the upper terrace you have an extraordinary view of Lake Prokljan and experience spectacular sunsets.
Various relax loungers can be used on the terraces as well as in the mediterranean garden. As a special highlight you can look forward to our self-built "fireplace" or our grill. Here you have not only the possibility to grill different kinds of food according to your taste, but also to prepare typical Dalmatian specialties like the dish under the bell "izpod peke".
In June 2022, our Kuća RiO has been categorised with three Stars (***), which makes us very proud.
Toilet paper and soap are provided as a starter set. First aid kit and free Wi-Fi are available.
We charge a one-time fee of € 80 for the final cleaning of the accommodation.
Optionally we offer you to rent our boat "Verpeilović" with a 4 PS engine. However, a valid boat driving licence is required for this. (Patent B or higher) If you prefer to be navigated by a competent and experienced skipper to at least discover other places on Lake Prokljan, please do not hesitate to contact us! We know reliable and trustworthy professionals, who will of course take you to the open sea in speed boats. By the way, these skippers are also real masters at the fireplace or grill. If you are interested and after consultation, they are certainly ready to prepare Dalmatian specialties for you directly on the spot in Kuća RiO. The advantages are on the one hand that none of you has to stay sober because you still have to drive. On the other hand, any food, including the "fire master's" expenses, will be many times cheaper than in trendy restaurants or konobas, with almost the same quality. Give it a try!
Kuća RiO is located in the picturesque village of Bilice Vrulje, a small old fishing village overlooking Lake Prokljan, where vines and olive trees have been traditionally cultivated for generations. Lake Prokljan is the fourth largest lake in Croatia with an area of about 11 km² and is situated in central Dalmatia between Šibenik and Skradin in the immediate proximity of the Krka National Park. The characteristic feature of Lake Prokljan is the so-called mixed water, which consists of fresh water from the Krka River and salt water from the Adriatic Sea. The distance from
Bilice Vrulje to the open sea is about 7 km as the crow flies.
The quiet surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of the city with its crowds and traffic noise offer you the ideal conditions for a relaxing holiday. It is particularly suitable for those who do not want to be in a crowded area and who value peace, quiet and untouched nature. At the same time, Bilice Vrulje, which is situated about 8 km from the town of Šibenik, is an ideal starting point for day and evening excursions and for getting to know the Dalmatian life.

Please let us say a few personal words here, so that you also get to know the history of Kuća RiO:
45 years ago, my grandparents and my parents bought the property. At that time there was neither electricity nor water in Bilice Vrulje. In a few years they built the house and used it regularly with friends. After the Balkan war only the foundation walls were left and we started to renovate and furnish it gradually from 1997. Through the active support of amiable locals our Kuća RiO was created, which we would now like to offer to "still" unknown people. We are very attached to Bilice Vrulje and the surrounding area, we know each other well and the lovely locals have become great friends years ago. These long-standing friendships enable us to be always up to date and to be at your disposal with advice and action if needed. Experience warm hospitality and an unforgettable holiday.

Almost every hour there is a local bus from the entrance of the village in Bilice Vrulje to Šibenik. In addition, there are now also a number of taxi companies, which can take you to the city for about 10 €, for example. We will be happy to help you if necessary.
Every morning the "bread truck" comes to us in Bilice Vrulje and can be reached at about 10.15 a.m. on the main road in front of our Kuća RiO. The offer is focused on different kinds of bread, as well as sweet and salty pasta. You can get other groceries for example in the next supermarket (Ultra) on the main road to Šibenik.
To the nearest airports Zadar or Split it takes about an hour by car.
