The small town of Malchow is a tourist gem in the center of the Mecklenburg Lake District. It is also known as the island town, as the old town, which is well worth seeing, is surrounded by the Fleesensee and the Malchower See. An earth dam and a listed swing bridge, which opens several times a day for boat traffic, connect the two parts of the town. There are also passenger boat moorings, a harbor, restaurants, cafés and shopping facilities. Other attractions include the monastery church, the town mill, a large bathing beach, a summer toboggan run, a monkey forest and a riding stables just outside the town. Boat and bicycle rental directly in the town as well as wellness, sports and golf offers in the nearby vacation resort Land Fleesensee round off the tourist attractions."
